There really isn't anything new I can write that hasn't already been covered in many of the other glowing reviews of this resort. My wife and I traveled here the last week of January 2020. Gabi and Frank are caring, gracious hosts who do everything they can to make sure you have an excellent experience. Their efforts are reflected in their staff who are all eager to please and become friends before your stay is over. The beach and water here are fantastic and you can always find a secluded spot all to yourself if you want. Just beware of the sand flies. Bring some insect repellent specific to sand flies (no-see-ums) if you are the type of person who always gets bug bites (like my wife). The food at the resort is very fresh and the prix-fixe dinners are as good as a fine dining restaurant. Their chef is fantastic and can accommodate any food allergies or preferences. Overall, I can't recommend this place highly enough. I've been bragging about this trip to anyone that will listen since we've gotten home. We will definitely be back!

Shannas Cove Resort is a very special find ! Gregor and Maria are the perfect hosts and ensured that our experience was everything that we hoped. The property is well maintained, the bungalows are very comfortable and in a spectacular location if you are looking for a quiet, remote, rejuvenating time on a beautiful island in The Bahamas. We have traveled to many beaches in The Bahamas … this may be our favorite. It was everything we hoped it would be …. And more. The bar and restaurant are a real, natural central gathering place and the food was superb ! We highly recommend a stay. It’s a gem !

We had a great 6 days here with Gregor and Maria. THe place is beautiful Its secluded at the northern end of Cat Island but its not too far out. 15 mins down a pretty rough road, just take your time. Having a car is almost a must but they can be rented locally or Gregor can arrange for you. Get a CRV or suv with some clearance. Shannas has an incredible beach and they have kayaks, paddle boards etc. There is only space for about 10 guests so this is not Sandals. You would not be going to Cat Island if you want a Sandals experience anyway. Meals are done there everyday and they ask the day before if you want dinner the next night. Breakfast is available and lunch was from the menu and affordable., The dinners were actually quite good and made by Maria and staff on site. They can accommodate allergies/opt out of shell fish etc. The rooms are basic but clean and more than adequate with hot water, ac etc. As for Internet I bought a BTC sim for my travel phone and was happy to find service was fine even on the tip of the island, so I used it as a personal hot spot in room. Wifi avail free at the main building restaurant. We have been to a number of out islands and Cat island is amongst the best. It's not bustling- its quiet, but there are things to do just ask Gregor or Maria for advice. They were quite helpful and live on site so they are there to look out for you. We will be back! Our third visit to Shannas Cove- stayed in the Dolphin Villa which is slightly larger/brighter than the other four, but honestly every room here is gorgeous, well situated, private, clean, perfectly equipped. All have perfect breathtaking views.
We took long walks in either direction, minding the tide charts, seldom seeing anyone else along the way. The crystalline water was perfect for swimming & kayaking. Gorgeous nature, unspoiled.
Frank & Gabi helped arrange a boat trip with Captain Rod to see turtles and rays and a follow up snorkeling excursion. Perfect 3-4 hour diversion.
This year we flew direct from Ft Lauderdale to Cat Island on Makers Air, highly recommend that. Frank made it easy by arranging transport from the airport to the resort. “No problem!”
We loved our 7-7:30 happy hour with our fellow guests, so easy going & fun with Frank & team tending bar. We were delighted to find Tara and Antonese still on staff delivering warm and friendly hospitality each day!
New to us was experiencing Chef Fabian’s masterfully executed dinners. Gourmet, inventive, delicious & exquisitely presented. Such a great complement to the relaxing and beautiful Bahamas experience. Our favorite: the mahi dinner. Drool worthy!
We left yesterday & miss it already. We’ll return with great anticipation. This resort knows hospitality!

We had the pleasure of checking into Shanna’s Cove on the 24th December 2020 for a 9 day vacation and we were not disappointed. The hotel is beautifully kept, the staff extremely friendly, the hospitality was impeccable, and the local beaches are fantastic. There is a great 30min walk to a secluded beach along a jungle track that is a definite 'must do' for all guests. Frank and Gabby made our holiday extremely special, and the food cooked by the inhouse chef, Fabian, was out of this world. We do not have a bad word to say about Shanna’s Cove and we absolutely cannot wait for a return visit. Frank and Gabby are both extremely accommodating and nothing was ever too much trouble for them.
Overall an 11 out of 10 experience and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice quiet get away on a beautiful beach with amazing food and welcoming, personal hospitality. The local Fly Fishing spots are also very special and the Bone Fish are plentiful - only a short 10 min walk away for some of the best DIY bone Fishing I have experienced in the Bahamas having lived here for 4 years.

Beautiful hotel. So relaxing. Nothing is an effort for the owners Gregor and Maria, who are so welcoming, friendly and great fun!
We particularly enjoyed relaxing by the beach, and all of the water sports including paddle boarding, snorkelling and kayaking.
The hotel is positioned in the far north of Cat Island, overlooking what is mostly an empty and long beach. Just blissful! The room is comfortable, with a nice spacious shower room and terrace out of the front with views across the beautifully landscaped garden to the sea. Proper wow factor!
The food is lovely - especially the salads and pizzas - and every night the owners invite guests to join for drinks at the bar, followed by lovely 2-3 course meal made in the hotel kitchen.
Getting to Cat Island is a bit of a trek for those coming from the UK/Europe, but it is so so worth it to be able to switch off properly and relax in a quiet and tranquil environment. If you want to explore the island further, I would definitely recommend renting a car.

We had high expectations for our first trip to Shannas Cove, which was our first extended trip as a couple without our kids. We were looking for someplace tropical, secluded, and relaxed. That's exactly what we found on Cat Island. We had assumed the pictures of empty, beautiful beaches were stock images or carefully taken to show only the best of the area. We were wrong! The pictures don't even do the setting justice. It is truly an escape from everything in your own little slice of paradise. Gregor and Maria were gracious, friendly hosts. They helped us through the covid protocols. They made the cocktail hour before dinner feel like a relaxed gathering among friends. Maria's cooking was exceptional and creative. We looked forward to every meal, especially since dinner was fixed and chosen for us. Each course was a surprise that didn't disappoint. If you have never been to Cat Island, getting there can be confusing for first-timers. Gregor is very helpful in lining things up with Bam's Charter from Nassau. To Type-A people like us, the charter arrangements seemed informal. But everything worked fine, and it helped us adjust to island culture where you don't always know every last detail ahead of time. The accommodations are exactly what you need. They are clean and sufficient, but the highlight is the view and the porch. All the rooms had a clear view of the ocean, and hearing the surf in the morning is the perfect way to wake up. The walk to the Man of War beach is absolutely worth it. Bring sneakers for the walk, as it is 30-40 minutes walking with a few sandy/rocky/hilly spots. If you like to go on walks at the beach, plan on taking lots of long walks. We walked for hours each day, exploring coves and empty beaches where we couldn't see anybody else for miles. We saw stingrays, a reef shark, starfish, and more. We stayed during the fourth week of January, and the weather was great. It was in the high 70s everyday, and it felt warmer because of the strength of the sun. We packed warmer clothes, but we hardly needed them. The water was warm and calm and clear. We cannot wait to go back!

I would give Gabi and Frank 10 stars if I could! Shannas Cove is a treasure like no other. The views are unbelievable - it is untouched by people and development which is so hard to find these days. You will feel like family from the second you go to book with Gabi and Frank. They are so kind and welcoming. Frank organized our flight from Nassau to Cat Island seamlessly and took care of everything. At the resort - the beach is huge and you can walk for miles. Hardly anyone on it. They have everything you could want - chairs, kayaks, SUPs. The bungalows all have amazing views and are very private (Gabi and Frank designed it this way). The food was AMAZING and so was the service the entire week we were there. They were always checking to make sure we had everything we needed and are super accommodating for dietary preferences. There is also a short walk/hike (30 min) right from the resort to another private beach you can only reach by the trail or by boat. So beautiful! We traveled during December 2020 with the pandemic and they couldn't have been more helpful with the process. We felt safer on their property that we do in our hometown! Highly recommend as a romantic getaway for couples off the beaten path.

Gregor and Maria 5 ⭐️ for the welcoming family atmosphere; very homey for such a beautiful location! Maria can cook and the staff as well. Breakfast was perfect and dinners would have been over the top anywhere let alone a locale as secluded as Shannas ! The clientele were diverse and all so friendly and welcomed me to share their dinner table on more than one occasion always some really good stories . The views create peace and the trails end with secluded and empty beaches . At the end of the day my room had a beautiful ocean view, was spacious , well equipped , and most of all spotless. I cannot wait to return with family ! I could go on and on about the island and people ! All exceptional !

There is a bar at the restaurant. YES fruity drinks :) I was drinking Pina Coladas myself. You would have to carry it down to the beach. It’s all close together however. This is not an all inclusive. So drinks and food cost. But it’s just kept on your tab. You get an accounting each day, and settle up just as you leave.

If you want do drink wine you can pick out a bottle, and they label it with your name, and then you drink from it until you finish it (then start over!). I think prices are reasonable/normal. I was quite impressed that Gabi sold me a can of Off spray, a necessity for sand fleas, for only $8.
