My husband and I with our then 2 year old son stayed here a couple of years ago. The villa we stayed in which was supposed to be brand new was a dump. We were supposed to have satellite tv as the advertisement said, but the very large and ancient satellite dish that was connected to the villa was badly rusted and broken. The dish looked as if it hadn't worked in many many years. We too had a room that they would not open. We also slept with the lights on to rid off the extremely large cockroaches but with no success. Woke up one morning and found one the size of my index finger on the bed. Everyday the kitchen was covered in cockroaches. Paid for my villa, and am still waiting for my change but that might have been an oversight.
The pizza restaurant down the road I believe it is called Mate and Jennys food there was very good. All in all the island is beautiful and we have gone back to the island by boat, but we will never stay at the Palmetto shores again.

This was the worst place I ever stayed in! The place was a dump! Old smelly furnishings. We had a two bedroom villa, which they could not find the key to the second room, so It stayed locked the whole time we were there! We slept with the lights on all night to keep out the palmetto bugs. We took the first plane out of there!

We stayed five days, four nights in "Michelini," 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, full living room, kitchenette by the shore, walking across the lawn to the shore - great sandy beach, clean, fine snorkeling and all-round swimming. Apparently earlier "reviewer" gave the place bad knocks undeservedly - a definite hard-to-please type. My husband and I, our grandson (13 years) and son-in-law thought it a comfortable, just-right place to kick back, enjoy sun and exploring. All essentials furnished - towels, linens. Bought food to cook at the local grocery on the way in.
Cable TV. Barbecue there if we bought briquettes (didn't). Bought lobster tails and conch from a local. Visited with our daughter's family renting "Blue Moon" house three doors up the road. Could not have had a better time and plan to return, even very soon. It was our first visit to the Bahamas. Asa Bethel, Palmetto Shores Villas owner, helped us find a boat to rent. Could not have been more helpful. I will certainly miss the wonderful nights of sleep with the regular night winds swishing branches against the back wall of the house in a soothing, soothing fashion. Then snorneling before breakfast, just walking to that beach. Mmm. Great place. Great vacation.
