We stayed at Tom & Ali's new refurbished place in the beginning of December and it was incredible! The view off the deck is beautiful. There are two kayaks provided, and for 3 of the days we stayed there, we were able to enjoy a sunset kayak where we had the ocean entirely to ourselves. The bay is absolutely beautiful. The water is so clear that I could clearly see what was swimming on the bottom from the deck of the house, even before the sun was up! At night there are some great stars to view and few neighbors. There were many times where the adjacent beach was completely empty, as was the entire bay. If you like quiet, simple beauty and solitude, this is your place. There are lots of no see-ums, so make sure you bring bug spray, but that is not unusual in the tropics. Location wise, it is very easy to drive to many different beaches. Lighthouse beach was incredible (esp. the Caribbean side) if you can get down there before Disney takes it over. Tom and Ali were very gracious and accommodating hosts, and we hope that someday we can return. Bahama Villa (and Eleuthera itself) is a truly unique place in the world.

As nice as the pictures are on the Web, they still don't do justice to how beautiful the property and surrounding area is. The house is kept in impeccable condition and you can spend the a whole week without leaving the bay. Fishing, sun, snorkeling, amazing sunsets, nearby supplies . . . the place has it all! - Peter I.

The pictures of the house are 7 years old. This furnishings of the house are NOT like the pictures. The owners allowed the house to be rented filthy, unsanitary and unsafe. The 'COVID' cleaning was not evident but we were charged. There was NO Palapa as shown in the advertised pictures, NO ladder to safely get out of the water as shown in advertised pictures, the furniture wasn't as pictured, the small appliances had bugs in them, the oven pilot light wouldn't stay lit, nails popping up all over the deck, missing screws so deck chatters up and down as you walk on the deck, broken lounge furniture was still left out to use. Don't go barefoot on this deck! We wouldn't rent this 'Villa' again. The house had spiders and I was bitten by one as we found it dead in our bed the next morning. This bite was worse than the no-seeums. We felt this owner used FALSE advertising.
You may be saying, why was there so many 5 stars? Because the views and the water are phenomenal. Unfortunately, we didn't need to rent this house to get those views and water.
I asked the owners what could be done to remedy these issues and I received a no response after 5 days. Skip this rental, you'll be glad you rented somewhere safe for your family. I wouldn't recommend this home to anyone with small children either. The way to get into the water is unlevel with gaps in the walkway and no safe way to get into the water.
The Bahamas and Eleuthera were fantastic. The people are warm and lovely.

After a hard working year, we needed a time out, and found the Bahama Villa on Eleuthera. It's as nice as it looks on the photos on the web side. The villa is directly located on the shore at Ten Bay Beach, and has direct access to the water. During our stay we had the entire beach for our own, since the few surrounding Villas were not inhabited. It's a perfect place for fishing, swimming, beautiful sunsets, snorkling and collecting shells. The Villa itself is equipt with the all relevant itmes, such as TV/DVD Player, a full kitchen and BBQ grill. We spent most of the time on the property and, expect for grocery, there is no need to go somewhere else.

Flew the family into Governors Harbour for an extended weekend. Arthur the house manager was there to pick us up and help us get acquainted with the island. You may want consider getting fruits and vegetables on the way to Bahama Villa since they are not permitted through customs. Note, groceries and fuel (if you do a rental car from Arthur or Naaman) are more expensive than in the states, but the rum is cheaper! You may also want to buy one-gallon jugs of water if you plan to be out on the water (kayaking, boating, or exploring the island). Thankfully, while at Bahama Villa there is a large water dispenser (think water cooler) in the living room with refillable five-gallon jugs that can be purchased/swapped at the small grocery store where you get the vegetables and fuel.
As if Eleuthera isn’t remote enough, one gets an even greater sense of privacy and remoteness when traveling the final stretch of road and driveway that leads to Bahama Villa. The property itself is hidden from the small rugged road by a large piece of ancient coral, now overgrown by lush vegetation. All of the tropical plants and trees give you confidence that this is the most private property around. Contrast this with once you are inside the house and your eyes are drawn to a perched view of Ten Bay’s 50 shades of blue and pink sand beach. Wow! Bahama Villa Is essentially an elevated peninsula that extends your porch and hammock out from the properties that exist on either side. This is an amazing location!
We turned off the A/C one day and just did the ocean breeze, grilled fresh caught fish, and lobster on the gas grill and listened to island tunes coming through the WiFi. My wife, is a convert. No more resorts for us. If one comes here with the understanding that this is an island and not a hotel, you will have no problem enjoying the Bahamas the way it was intended.

Ten bay only has a handful of villas and they were all vacant while we were there in November. This villa is directly on the water and easy to access by car. It was very easy to book via its official website.
The villa has a full kitchen including microwave, coffee maker, modern gas stove/oven, bbq grill, a flat tv with cable, vhs/dvd player, movies, books, snorkeling/fishing gear. We felt at home as soon as we set foot there.
The master bed is very comfortable and the room has a beautiful view on the carribean. AC works well, and there are ceiling fans.
The villa felt safe, windows/doors are secured by locks. There is a phone and internet connection (no computer), and my cellphone connected to the Bahama telco. Emergency numbers are provided.
A taxi will cost 45$ one way from the closest (GHB)airport. The drive is 20min/18miles. Mr Arthur Nixon which is the manager of this villa hooked us up with an old car for a mere 55$/day for the length of our stay, or 70$/day if we rent for less than the full length of our trip. Without a car you can't go anywhere. There are no scooters rental and I would strongly discourage riding a bicycle, if you ever find one. We thought that transport was kind of a ripoff. Except for grocery (or emergency/accident) there is no need to go somewhere else - this place is great for snorkeling, fishing, swimming, suntanning, kayaking and taking it easy.
The biggest inconvenient there was the sand fleas aka sand fly, beach flea, hop-a-long, no-see-um, biting midge, and punkie or punky. Do not take this advice lightly: BRING DEET! Seriously!

We spent a lovely Xmas week at Bahama Villa and just returned last night. The place has been renovated by the new owners - new appliances, furniture, kitchen and bathroom. We were happy with the central location, cleanliness, and outdoor activities literally right out the front door. It’s a cute and efficiently laid out place - and the front porch is just perfect for relaxing with a book and enjoying the amazing view. There’s a relaxing a comfortable couch, flatscreen smart TV and WiFi…be aware that internet on the island does occasionally drop.
Snorkeling right off of the dock you can see grouper, puffer fish, small sharks, TONS of stingrays (don’t worry, shuffle your feet), sand dollars, starfish, turtles, and other interesting life along the cliff face. No current to speak of and shallower water towards the 10 Bay side would be perfect for smaller kids. Be careful directly out front off the deck as the cliff face is steep and coral rock is sharp…the stairway down in the back is the easy way to the dock. There’s also a very well placed outdoor freshwater shower for rinsing off after a beach session at nearby 10 Bay. You can wade right over to the beach - even during high tide it’s not more than waist deep.
The owners also include 2 kayaks - while not equipped for heavy seas, are perfect for light paddling and exploration - and a variety of beach equipment (chairs, towels, mat).
Shop at the Midway Cost Cutter or Island Farm (fresh bakery on Tuesday and Friday).
I hate writing a positive review about this little gem - because it means we’ll likely have to compete with folks for it next time we head to Eleuthera - but Ali and Tom have done a nice job with the updating - and we look forward to our next trip down.

We rented Miss Ruby and the cottage over Christmas 2017. The house was exactly as in the photos. The manger,Misty, was at the house to greet us even though our flight had been delayed and she was very nice and helpful. She even had a tree decorated with Christmas lights and some stockings and candy canes for the kids. The house was very clean and the property was great. The kids loved the pool. There could have been a few more baking pans, possibly some spices, and some of the beds squeaked. We really enjoyed our stay at Miss Ruby and would rent this villa again.

I stayed at this lovely home with my 8 year old son, husband, and mom. We had an absolute blast. First, we had some issues with the home such as the telephone not working and the refrigerator and wifi being out; however, we travel the world and we understood that being on an Island has different expectations from washington DC. So we sat back and just enjoyed the ride. Arthur worked hard to fix the problems and the owners went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of for the issues. Back to the home, we would love to come back to this haven. This was the best beach for us. My husband and I are avid scuba divers (having dove in Bali, Sri Lanka, all over the Carribean), we wanted to get our son comfortable with snorkeling. Could not have picked a better spot. The home is on a very peaceful cove with lots of fish to see in the water. We saw the grouper, huge schools of fish, some rays, a rare bat fish, lobster, tons of crabs. We snorkeled and my son fished all day long. We rented the kayaks and enjoyed kayaking around the cove whenever we pleased. There is a short path around the house that my mother took to get the beach. We spent most of our time at the house. We did drive around the island to visit the beautiful deserted beaches. We mostly cooked at home but had some great meals. We did not get eaten alive by any bugs. Also, the owners were wonderful about answering all of my questions. The home is great for a small family or two couples. It's not fancy but we loved it and would really love to go back. The only issue holding us back is the island airline which is always late and caused us a missed connection. Grocery stores are a bit lacking but we made by with lots of visits to the nearby organic market (amazing homemade bread) and fresh fish from the fish monger (its 1 man in a beaten up dive suit)---what an experience...highly recommend it for those seeking quiet relaxation at your own pace and on island time. Especially for those of you not looking for the Nassau experience, this is the Bahamas many years ago before the tourists took over. We fell in love with Eleuthera at Serenity Cove.
