The most gorgeous beaches in North America
And everyone speaks English. A place to swim in the most beautiful turquoise calm water almost all to yourself. As close to paradise with perfect warm weather-the balancing exception is : tiny mosquitoes appropriately names “ No-see-ems”. So warned be sure to bring serious repellent and treatment crème . Be aware that There is no hospital in the Exumas: supportive medical services are minimal Medical/dental situations require flying to Nassau. Grand Exuma’s infrastructure is in the process of developing But Boater and fishermen love the Exumas as do celebrities who own their own small Islands in the chain for astounding prices.

Check in was smooth and the room was EVERYTHING! We stayed in the hoopers suite which was huge! There is beach access few steps out the room. The shower was clean and nice with the pull down shower head. The food at Latitudes was so good I had to tip the chef. If you need anything the staff is friendly GWEN is so sweet and always willing to help. Frankie at the front desk was very kind and available during the day. EJ AND Princeton at the bar made excellent drinks and had awesome customer service. There is music and dancing on the weekends but the vibe is very relaxed and care free. I like this resort because we felt secluded but still close to George Town , fish fry and other attractions. Will definitely stay again!

I had booked this resort for a family member and then last minute plans had to change due to extenuating circumstances. While I did not stay at the hotel, I did stop in the hotel and spoke with them in person. I wanted to write a review to say that the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and I really appreciated their assistance. My review is solely based on the excellent customer service I received as I was not a guest at the facility.

This resort is the worst we ever been too. We had a one night reservation dueto flights being changed and could not get into our actual booked resort. We arrived at check in time to find out the room we were booked was not available, they told us the people who were init wanted to stay and they couldn't kick them out. They told us they had another room but needed to be cleaned. We waited an hour and a half for them to scramble cleaning it. Then when they took us to the room, they could not find the keysfor the deadbolt. After scrambling around trying keys they could notfind a key to lock the room!! At that point I asked for my money back and stormed out furious... the whole resort is very run down and dirty. The room they tried to give us looked like it was a storage room or break room for their employees, it had mould all around the shower and wall in bathroom.

We arrived early in the morning and they were very kind to give us a room right away. However, after having already arranged everything we realized that the shower was broken and we had to change rooms. The rooms are ok, the bathroom is not well cared for that price. In the evening, we noticed that they didn't change the bed before giving us the room, so it was full of various hairs from the previous hotel guest. Back from vacation we both have legs and arms full of bites from dirt bugs.
The breakfast is too poor.
The staff however is kind and the food in the restaurant is good. Tha bar closes already at 9 p.m.
The location of the hotel by the sea very nice.

The price is too high for such an hotel! I know Exuma island is expensive, but for 200 $ pro night I expect at least a clean bed.

This place suffers from major deferred maintenance . The room had no chairs, only one light, no WiFi. No safe. The refrigerator was noisy and rusty. The sliding closet doors were rusty and off the tracks. The exterior lights didn’t work. The pool was murky; I guess a pump broke down. But the bathroom was the worst. Rusty fixtures, no tub stopper, broken tiles, broken towel bar.

Only two people work here so the office is randomly locked. Ice is locked up so if no one is there, no ice. Coffee might be ready by 7:30 but it might not. It would have been one star but the two employees were nice.

And BTW, our neighbors there said that their door wouldn’t even lock! This could be a nice spot with a total rehab.

If you are poking around on Tripadvisor and considering a visit to Exuma, let me first start by saying that this is the place you need to go. It is absolutely beautiful and remote [so remote, that my daughter and I saw the SAME 4 travelers several times in four days!!] and the beaches are truly stunning. If you are looking for a place where there are only a HANDFUL of people on the beaches, then this is your locale. If you want the touristy, crowded scene, then by all means go to Nassau/Paradise Island.

Next, the hotel:
The location of the Exuma Beach Resort is actually perfect - it sits in the middle of the island about a mile from Georgetown [I'll get to that later]. The hotel is really more of a B&B with about 10 rooms, and an indoor and outdoor restaurant. The outdoor restaurant [called Latitudes] has a bar and patio, and folks will boat right up to the dock to hang out, have a drink, and socialize. Continental breakfast is included [juice/tea/coffee/bagels/yogurt/fruit], but you can order off the menu, and the food is great.
Our room had 1 queen bed and they were able to put a cot [it was tight but who cares] in the room for my [whiny] 18 year old daughter. We stayed in the Hibiscus room, which was just a few steps away from the water and the beach that sits right near the hotel. Here is the thing - the beach at the hotel isn't the best beach on Exuma, but who cares - a 5-10 minute walk down the beach [in low tide] or a 10-15 minute walk on the road is Jolly Hall Beach, and like every beach in Exuma it's EMPTY, and it is STUNNING.
What puts this place over the top is the personalized service and how much they CARE about you having a great stay. Our plane arrived early into Exuma, but our room was ready so they let us check in. Then, on our last day, our flight didn't leave until 6:45pm. LaTroy [who was so awesome in helping us the whole trip!!] had us check out, and upon our return from Stocking Island, gave us a room to shower in before our flight! How many hotels do that? Not many.
Antoinette reserved a rental car for us and the Airport Car Rental had it delivered to our hotel. Sara and LaTroy called the 4C's tour for us the morning of the scheduled tour to make sure was still on due to possible issues w/ Tropical Storm Bertha. LaTroy also called our B&B in Nassau to make sure THAT reservation was still intact....Alex took my [whiny] daughter running on the beach for a workout. The list of extra service touches goes on and on.
The internet in the restaurant is better than in the rooms, but it's still a little bit slow. Print out directions to places you want to go and visit rather than relying on being able to pull stuff up on your iPad if the connection is slow.....

Stuff to do on Exuma:
I highly recommend you rent a car, however due to the HIGH price of doing so [our rickety old Jeep was $125/day and gas is $6 gallon], I recommend you do all of the non-car things you can first, and then rent a car for your last days and drive it back to the airport. For example, you MUST, you MUST take the 4C's boat tour. That was the highlight of our trip and one of the few times my 18 year old daughter didn't whine [along w/ beach time - she didn't whine then either]. You don't need a car to go to Stocking Island and hang out at the Chat n' Chill either. You can walk into town and catch Elvis water taxi [leaves every hour, on the hour, $12 round trip pp/same day AND he will pick you up from the Chat n' Chill when you say you are ready] and hang out there for the day. I'm sure there are other boat tours and such you can do on the days you don't have your rental car yet - just ask LaTroy and the staff to help you.

When you get a car:
Do NOT leave this island without going to Tropic of Cancer Beach - it is the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. It's about a 40 minute drive from Exuma Beach Resort, and the only gas station you'll hit is in Georgetown, so make sure you have enough gas [heads up - when you rent a car, they give you HALF a tank only!]. Go check out my review on Tropic of Cancer beach to find out how to get there - like the other beaches on Exuma, it's hard to find. We tried finding Coco Plum beach but couldn't. I was so bummed - that just means I have to come back. We didn't drive down to Emerald Bay [that's where Sandals and Grand Isle resorts are], but that's something you can probably do as well. There IS a supermarket at Emerald Bay and there is a small store about a couple miles from Exuma Beach Resort in the opposite direction of Georgetown.

Stuff to take:
Snorkeling gear [don't try to think you can rent it - these aren't public beaches with places offering rental stuff], sunscreen [you don't want to have to hunt for this], aloe, lip balm, all your toiletries as well as some meds [advil, pepto, etc - you don't want to have to hunt for any of this if you really need it], WATER SHOES with rubber soles on the bottom [Amazon sells them for <10$ - remember, a lot of limestone in the Exumas], a handful of zip loc and other plastic bags [for wet stuff], an UNDERWATER camera [you will thank me later!], a backpack to lug around when you go on a boat [which you will want to for sure], and some carabiner clips to hang all your wet stuff on to your backpack.

Other tidbits:
Sky Bahamas makes you check ALL your baggage except for the backpack that will fit under the seat in front of you. Customs in and out of Nassau is a complete nightmare - allow an hour in customs each way. Bahamas Air is a nightmare to check baggage, is always crowded, and flights are always late - due to the customs situation [but, oddly enough, they WAIT for people before the leave so you have a good shot at making your flight even if you do get stuck in customs].
Visit the straw market and watch the ladies weave baskets, but try not to get ripped off - I'm pretty sure I did. Oh well.
Take cash - you'll need it for a taxi [if you choose not to rent a car, or rent later as I suggested], for gas, for food, for tips, and for the straw market. Most of the 'larger' restaurants take plastic, but the places at the side of the road don't. I think there was an ATM in Georgetown, but I don't know the hours.....this is a remote island folks; don't forget that.

I now have to figure out when I can go back to Exuma and the Exuma Beach Resort and who I'm taking next time, but I guarantee I'll make it back....say hi to LaTroy for me when you go and have a great time.

An overall trip from hell! We arrived at the Exuma Beach Resort on May 5th to find absolutely no one there. After sitting by the pool with our luggage for three hours, we finally decided to go next door to Hideaway Bay and had them call the manager of Exuma Beach Resort. Frankie, the manager, finally showed up after being called in and apologized to my wife and I for the wait and stated our dinner would be comped and we would be receiving one free night. In addition, our original room we booked would be upgraded to the Hooper’s suite with ocean front views. Although the trip got off to a terrible start, we thought things were beginning to go our way. However, after having our first dinner, our promised Hooper’s suite was unable to be accessed. With no one around again, we had to stay in our originally booked room which had many issues such as burnt out lightbulbs, the toilet paper holder being off the wall, soap dispensers off the wall and a broken shower handle and TV remote. We woke up the next day with the intention of moving to the Sandals Resort, but the maid convinced us to check out the Hooper’s suite before leaving for good. The suite was beautiful enough to make us stay for the rest of the week. Once again, however, more issues ensued as later in the week, the tile floor cracked and ultimately felt like it was ready to cave in. Wednesday brought another low point to the vacation. Leaving to go on an excursion, I had accidentally left my wallet in the room (100% I had left it in the room). Coming back from our excursion, the wallet was NOWHERE to be found (there was no safe)! We opted to call the local police department and an investigation began but to no avail. The promised bar, music, and restaurant was also absent all week until Friday, a day before we left! In addition, the promised complimentary coffee and tea was no where to be found except one morning at the resort. After everything we endured, Frankie told us we would be in touch with the owner of the resort regarding our stay. The response we received was almost what we expected as the owner did not respectfully call me and simply claimed “we received plenty enough for our troubles.”

All in all, the scenery was beautiful but the resorts lack of service, maintenance, restaurant/bar/music, and security really made this trip unbearable and substandard! I highly recommend NO ONE to stay here!!

We booked the exuma Beach resort
and i also wrote couple Mails if they really got 2 separate beds.
As mentioned before with One of your Colleagues

But Never got an answer from the resort

When we arrived the Garden room was directly at the Parking Lot.

and there is no really beach with sand....

The room smelled musty and it was so tiny that there was no Space to put a roll bed or whatever in
The employee Said to this no Problem.
We will get you another Hotel to stay
First he wanted us to stay at a resort where a friend is working in Georgetown. Next possibility was the where he worked before
On the Way we saw some nice Cottages and wanted to stay there instead
He Stopped there. We tipped him and the Said no Problem with the Money we Paid for his resort. Either he will give it to me Directory or to the Manager of the New whom i Trusted to give it to me
He and mother were witnesses
After 3 days i got him on the phone and there he told me. He will just give the Money for the stay in the Cottage. Which was much cheaper(160$) the Night
Second i have to Pay the First Night in his resort( what he Never mentioned before) and third he will Not give me Balance
So he took the First Night AND the Balance!!!

cannot believe where they get all the excellent evaluations??

Response from Exumabeachresort, General Manager at Exuma Beach Resort
Responded Aug 13, 2014
Thank you for voicing your concerns. As it stands our hotel was not at fault for the booking error in relations to requesting a room with separate beds. The booking agency through which you made your reservations and payment made no indication that you had requested a room consisting of two separate beds. And as you before stated, you emailed our hotel in relation to the same but got NO answer from the hotel as we never received such an email. As it relates to the size and condition of the room I must express that I feel this to be a gross exaggeration. As stated by our many satisfied guests our room are quaint, comfortable and clean. We do offer three categories of our rooms, one being our entry level room with a garden view to which you booked. If the room was not to your liking, we do have other categories of rooms available for you to upgrade to. As mentioned before the miscommunication in which your request was not received nor acknowledge was in no way the fault of our hotel. Indeed our employee did do his best to accommodate your request for a room with two separate beds, he did this by finding four(4) different hotel possibilities to which he personally drove and escorted you to each one making sure you would be satisfied with your choice of accommodation. It was explained to you that because you would be canceling your reservation within our 7 day cancelation policy you would be forfeiting one nights payment of your reservation as is standard with all hotels. As for the balance in question it was explained to you that they were processing and international currencies exchange fees. Clearly the language barrier played an issue as all of the necessary information was relayed to you in detail. Once again we apologize for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you back to our resort again. Sincerely, Management

Yes! You book your tour which departs from Great Exuma Island and they take you to pig island, iguana island, swimming with nurse sharks, thunderball grotto, etc. And they provide a Bahamian style buffet lunch!
