A warm welcome and we were delighted when we were shown our room - it was large, spotless and very nicely appointed with a huge bed and a large shower. Our evening meal was nicely presented and the portions were generous, although we had only ordered "light bites". Similarly, the breakfast was all we could have wished for. Superb value for money and a very pleasant stay.

What a wonderful place! Couldn't fault it. It's a quaint little Welsh pub with lovely accomodation. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Room was clean, bright, modern and has everything you need! Food was great value for money and was lovely homemade pub grub, with a good selection of well priced drinks, too. Service was fast and with a smile. Breakfast was fantastic - we pre-ordered and could have so much, all tasty and good quality! They even had gluten free bread, which was a huge bonus for me as a coeliac. Understanding of allergies was good, I felt confident.
Overall it was great value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed our 1 nights stay here for a wedding at Garthmyl Hall (5 mins drive away).

visited the Talbot after about 3 years absence due to illness and the lockdowns, we received a wonderful warm welcome from Janet, Jackie the landlady and Jill, we very much appreciated the fact we were still remembered from the our last visit,
we enjoyed superb home cooked food and some perfectly served real ale, all excellent in term of quality and value.
the Talbot has had a lovely refurbishment it is spotlessly clean throughout, it is a genuine traditional hospitality establishment, a great asset to the local community and for visitors to the beautiful village and surrounding area, 5 star in everyway it has very professional staff and landlady ,a warm friendly atmosphere , home cooked food and fine beers , also dogs very welcome in the bar.
Give this place a try its the very best in berriew for sure.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip, very well looked after by Jackie during stay and the room was very comfortable. As I had eaten before arriving wasn’t able to have a second dinner although breakfast was brought to the room in the morning right on time and the selection of food available was top notch. The bar and restaurant were closed due to the current regulations but will reopen soon, would have enjoyed sampling some of the local brews from the bar although Jackie very kindly brought some drinks to the room. Hand sanitizer mandatory when entering and exiting the hotel and single use toiletries are in place in the bathroom, the rooms are thoroughly cleaned and ventilated as well as being left vacant for a day before the next guests arrive so hygienically spot on. Some really nice walks and paths for cycling on round the Talbot, cycled 20km out and back along the canal path which was very enjoyable. Big thanks to Jackie for being an excellent host, will definitely return if in the area again.

Quite a challenge to find. In a village crammed full of quaint black and white painted buildings. Parking can be an issue, have to hope to park on the road outside. The hotel is quaint, quirky and full of character associated with an old coach Inn. It is both a hotel and restaurant. Free wifi, if you can manage to connect and stay connected. Connecting is at best iffy and keeping connected next to impossible. It's a BT hub, so why is it so bad when by guarantee WiFi in every room ( don't know if hotel has bought into this, if not they need to if they want to keep advertising free wifi).
Spacious room with all the expected amenities. A metal framed bed with a comfy mattress. A vintage cast iron fireplace resides in the room. The w/c and shower are accessed by stepping down two steps. The breakfast was customisable and excellent.

A real find. Clean, accommodating, friendly helpful staff, home made reasonably priced food, quality real ales, quiet and off the beaten track but en route to various Welsh tourist destinations. Good base for both touring the area or for walking, fishing, cycling.

The Talbot Hotel! Where to begin? The Talbot Hotel is a lovely Welsh, village Hotel in the heart of beautiful Welsh country side. Small but well well place and with a heart that is huge. All the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and the landlady ensure an excellent stay. The rooms have been re-furbished to a high standard and provide comfort for both business and pleasure.
However, to top all of this there is the amazing food. Quality and quantity which I feel is hard to match anywhere I have ever stayed and believe me I have stayed in cheap and expensive and none rival the Talbot. Every meal is a pleasure to eat, great presentation and food cooked to perfection.
If you ever want to stay in this part of Wales or you just happen to be near by, my advice would be to drop in, sample it for yourself I can guarantee your view will be the same as mine. The Talbot Hotel - a real gem.

The location on the banks of the river Rhiew is well worth a visit. This pub offers home cooked food which was very good and the portions were more than ample. We have eaten here on several occasions over the years and we are always pleased with the food provided
