We spent 3 nights here and ate in on 2 nights rather than waste time finding a restaurant during our sightseeing. The Adam & Helen are clearly working hard to operate the business whilst still observing all Covid regulations which cannot be easy. I had concern that our room at the front, lovely view but near the main road, would be noisy but in the event this proved unfounded. The hotel is well located for Snowdon, Portmeirion, Ffestiniog, Lynn Peninsula, Bodnant Garden, etc. An added bonus was that the hotel has 2 proper EV destination chargers - not a scratty, remote 13A socket out the back that passes for a charger at so many places.

Thank you for your review. It is good to hear that the chargers are appreciated. Having a Silver Green Tourism Award, they are actually our second lot of chargers as they were upgraded by Tesla last year!

I booked the hotel for a trip to Snowdon and I found the hotel and staff very nice. The people at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and perfect size portions. I would highly recommend this hotel for a quiet stay up in the area.

Excellent staff and service. Comfortable clean room. Beautiful and peaceful setting. Excellent quality breakfast, done exactly as requested. The evening meal restaurant food was fantastic. No need to look elsewhere on this trip! The bar served well poured and kept beers. A definite stay again.

Stayed in a group with 7 adults and 2 kids. Nothing was too much trouble for the attentive and personable hosts Adam and Helen, who, whilst being mindful of C19 guidelines, created a safe and accommodating environment. For those not familiar with the area, Dolwyddelen is a small village located in a valley in the middle of Snowdonia. For drivers who prefer to be at arm’s length from bustling Betws-y-coed, the “heart” of Snowdonia’s outdoors tourist district, Dolwyddelen is perfectly located, with the drive 15 minutes. With a friendly local pub down the road, lambs in the field opposite and ample opportunities for forest walks, it’s hard to think how this location could be improved. Thanks to the knowledgeable and friendly team at Elen’s Castle. Highly recommended and we’ll likely be back.

A wonderful hotel where I was welcomed in on arrival after I get soaked through no fault but my own. I would've been walked to my room aswell if it wasn't restricted due to covid. The owners and staff were really kind and looked after me the whole time. The building was amazing, really rustic but homely with some reslly nice timely decoration. The history of it was really intriguing to me and it still shows through but with modern amenities. My room was spotless and had all the things I needed for my trip. It was such a comfortable bed and there was no noise to speak of during the night. I would've heard a pin drop from 200 miles away it was that peaceful. I didnt stay too long, so only ate twice in the building, but from my experience it was really nice and the food was reslly tasty, especially the burger from a locally sourced butcher. Overall I'd reccomend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit Wales or even just for a stopover on the way to a different area. The area surrounding is breathtaking though so I'd highly reccomend 2 nights so you can check out the local walking trails
