Nearby there is cycling at Cod Y Brenin Mountain Biking centre and up the A212 theres the UK White water rafting centre so Plenty To do. The Hostel is locoted in the middle of lakes and valleys nearby that really show the beauty of Snowdonia and Wales.

The Hostel is very good for large groups coming to visit Snowdonia as they have rooms ranging from 2 to Six People. They provide a very useful kitchen with all the necessary cutlery and appliances which we found very helpful for self catering. The Hostel Itself is very clean and don't let the category of Hostel Fool you. Bedrooms were clean and tidy and Bathrooms were spotless.

Outside there's a secure Bike shed for your Bicycles and there is more then enough Parking. Located in a nice little village you can go to nearby Porthmadog for the coast.

Locals were very nice, especially at the local pub
Hotel owners were pleasant and helpful with a useful local guidebook in the room. Rooms clean, with even a towel and spare blanket which was a nice touch. Good fast WiFi and cooking facilities. The local heritage centre gives this place it's 5 stars, nice to see the embrace of local history

This is a great hostel. Clean, well-appointed, secure and smack-bang in the middle of some of the most beautiful landscape in the UK. I will certainly use this place when I'm in the area again, which will hopefully be soon :)

A very well looked after and well appointed hostel. Its location near the Rhinog Mountains was perfect for me to set up 'office' whilst Assessing groups of Gold D of E's. I was lucky enough to have the place to myself, so the use of all the facilities was quite luxurious, and leaving the hostel at sunrise to meet some of the D of E groups didn't disturb anyone!

Detailed local history display, very professionally done, puts you in awe of how historically significant this now remote area was at various times. Combine with Yr Ysgwrn, Tomen Y Mur and a meal/snack at Canolfan Prysor and you've got an interesting and informative half day, with fantastic views and good food. What's not to like?

The price was OK and the rooms are clean and tidy but you may have to share as there are 4 rooms for sleeping which are well looked after the bathroom is shared but has plenty of space. There is a kitchen area which you can use and a place to eat, but there is a pub across the car park which does food and is good. There is a local shop across the road but it shuts early so don't leave it to late to do some food shopping.

This has got to be the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. We were lucky enough to book this hostel a month before our trip and were not disappointed. It's warm and cosy and the staff available but not intrusive. Great showers and comfy beds. Only slight drawback is the lack of communal space snd a small kitchen area if cooking for a group. I would recommend to anybody looking for a great base for any type of activity in North Wales.

Myself and three friends stayed for one night here and for a cheap hostel we were very pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and facilities. We had a room for six to ourselves which had a well equipped shower room and toilet, plus an additional sink in the room. Towels were provided too which meant we could keep our luggage light!
The beds are firm but comfortable. There is a kitchen with everything you may need, even a tv if you want to have a quiet self catered night in. There is also excellent free WiFi.
We would not hesitate in recommending this place or staying again if we're in the area.
A perfect base if you want to explore the fabulous area of Snowdonia.

This building does have a hostel on it's top floors for bikers and others which is more than a bunkhouse with en suite bathrooms. On the ground floor for an entrance fee of £1 you can see an interesting exhibition which covers three important aspects of the locality. The first is a replica of a famous iron age find of a tankard in the La Tene celtic style - the original is in Liverpool museum. The second is an exhibiltion of the life and work of the famous Welsh Catholic saint John Roberts (1577-1610) who was born in this locality and who became one of the forty martyrs of England and Wales. The third strand is the exhibition on the life and work of Hedd Wyn a Welsh poet who was killed in the First World War. All the exhibitions are interactive and modern and would not be out of place in the most modern city museum. The whole building is run as a community enterprise and there are staff around who are more than willing to answer questions. If ever in the Trawsfynydd area do not miss this one attraction well worth a quid.
