The pictures don't do this place justice! It's the perfect amount of rustic and chic. There's a great patio to sit outside and enjoy an afternoon lunch. We had a good assortment of French cheeses. The wine room is a unique feature where you select your bottle of wine yourself. I would definitely recommend and would even try for dinner!

What a loverly surprise, the room is large and clean, but don't expect luxury. It's adequate and rural just what we like. The food was plentiful and delicious, the wine is something else. We were invited to go into the owners wine cellar and choose our own wine from a marvellous selection. We chose a Chinon to go with our...

Recommended to us for their 'killer burgers' by Varennes-sur-Loire locals. Very funky, relaxed atmosphere. The proprietor is waiter and cooks to order your meals. The HamBourgeuil is indeed the killer burger. Complete with confit onion and a layer of foie gras. Amazing. Served with salad and sautéed potatoes. There are also other options on the small menu including some very...

The Café de la Promenade is a fantastic place to stay and a wonderful place to eat. It's really a wine bar with rooms and food and a lovely dark slate swimming pool. It's not for lovers of chain hotel blandness. The bedrooms are decorated in an idiosyncratic, very well executed "shabby chic" but everything works vey well. The food...

We loved the Cafe de la Promenade so much, when we returned home, I made a book out of the photographs I took there. Which seems crazy, but after the most amazing meal and ambiance, it seemed to sum up so much of what France meant to us and our stay. The cellar was amazing, and I could have stayed...

Did not have the room ready until late in the afternoon and the swimming pool has seen better days- but it was clean and the food was OK. Good recommendation of a vineyard-lovely wine-still enjoying it. OK for an overnight.

This is a place wine lovers will want to know about. It is listed under hotels but it's basically a wine bar and funky restaurant with a couple of basic rooms attached. there's also a swimming pool. Run by Ludo and Sophie, the restaurant appeals to a local crowd, particularly local winemakers, and has a good local cellar and simple,...

The welcom is simple - here are the keys. Our room was big with a comfotable bed. There is nothing luxurious about this place, but it has a simple kind of charm. The bedroom walls are brightly painted, and books add the decoration. The bathroom could be a little cleaner... It is an inexpensive little place and a good value...

Our party of 4 arrived after a long drive from the South. We had no idea that our accommodation and welcome would be an altogether amazingly quirky experience. As older travellers,60s to late 70s. we are across France.all sufficiently laid back to expect the unusual and live with it. Cafe de la Promenade did not disappoint on any of our...
