The Altnaharra is an old established Scottish Highland hotel. Well appointed and run it's a touch of luxury and comfort in a remote and beautiful area. Fine dining in the restaurant in the evening and full Scottish breakfast in the morning. Good secure bicycle storage.

Altnaharra is a tastefully decorated hotel in a very remote area of Scotland. It is ideal for walking, cycling and country sports. We had a very spacious room which in winter would be very atmospheric as it would have an open fire. This meant though, that the room did smell smokey and was quite dusty. There was a choice of...

I stayed at the Altnaharra for one night on a Lands End to John O'Grauts bike ride. The hotel its self was very homely although the welcome was not very warm! However "the cabin" where we stayed was poor. It was basic which in its self was not a problem, however the rooms doors could not be locked and the...

So glad we pre booked this for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. a peaceful spot right out in the country. Quite a lot of driving on single track roads with passing places (A836) but well worth the effort for the scenery and the hotel. The rooms were comfortable. Perhaps the highlight was the food. The dinner was well worth the money...

This hotel should be good but somehow warmth and customer service are lacking and the hotel just comes over as being "mean" and inhospitable - see previous reviews about people being forced to the expensive food, old paint peeling off doors in main lounge etc.......and the hotel has WiFi but don't want customers to use it as they "have a...

The hotel is situated in this remote and beautiful area. Our room was "Naver" which was lovely. Very comfortable bed. The lounge has open fires which are lovely on a cold day. Both the lounge and dinning room are beautifully decorated. The other bedrooms are all differently decorated and " The Cheiftan " room , which is down stairs is...

I stayed at the Althaharra Hotel for a few days at the end of June 2016 with my wife. What a lovely place to spend a few days in the true highlands, old fashioned luxury at an affordable price, comfortable rooms, loads of hot water. Food equal to the best London hotels. Staff very obliging. Locals bar attached, catch up...

We were really looking forward to our travels at the top of Scotland and in early October the choice is understandably few and far between as a lot of places close for the season. We were prepared to travel inland from the coast to explore from this remote base, which is what we like - and we had high hopes...

We chose the Altnaharra Hotel for a "get away" long weekend in mid to late October partly because we love the North West of Scotland (we live in Perthshire) and partly for the good reviews we read on such websites as these. The hotel has one bedroom on the ground floor, which we chose because my husband has difficulty with...
