Visited to choose a table for Boxing Day, arrived on Boxing Day to find a family eating at OUR table, we were shunted to a table at the back, staring at a blank wall for two hours, asked for a meal with NO cheese in it ! Chose fish pie, came with a cheese topping FFS. Owners/ managers surly, awful...

I remember this pub from when I was a little kid. My parents would take us on a trip to Buxton, and on the way, we'd stop here for a shandy and a bag of crisps. Now I've got kids of my own, I called in on the way home. An amazing meal. I had the Big Pig, and it's...

We hadn't been in the Shady Oak for a while even though it is local to us. We called in for something to eat after work and it was worth the visit. Still the old fashioned pub it always was with a fire etc. Made to feel very welcome by the young lady behind the bar which is always a...

My partner, dog and I stayed here for 1 night whilst travelling back from the Lake District. It's a lovely pub, with a great open fire and friendly staff. Dinner was very nice, particularly the lamb shank shepherd's pie, not so much the pate. Very reasonably priced wine and good range of ales. Bedroom was comfortable, not massive but more...

We visited here twice while staying on holiday locally. The first time a very nice lady served us, very helpful and chatty, gave us information on the local area. That day we ate a lunch of toasted panini's and salad, chips etc. They were tasty and plentiful ,reasonable price too. The second visit we were met by a surly miserable...

We stayed in the family room with a dog for one night. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The meal in the bar was delicious, the staff very friendly and the whole experience was very enjoyable and certainly very reasonably priced.

Don't really do Valentines. However, had picked up my new car and really needed a little drive out - and partner suggested she book a table at the Shady Oak. Arrived early but that wasn't a problem and ordered a pint of Kozel Lager and a G&T whilst perusing the menu. Nice menu with some tasty looking choices. Decided to...

A warm welcome meets you as soon as you walk through into the pub from the staff and open fire. The double room is massive and the shower is very powerful. Very clean and although your near the main road, the double glazing is adequate to keep out noise and drafts. The bed felt a little soft but it was...
