Heard this place had changed hands, so thought we would pay a visit.. Not impressed at all. Poor food and served Warm. Not sure what is going on with the menu.. If your going to try and compete with other local pubs/restaurants then get it right.. I'm a regular customer of the beehive, Cock pub and kitchen and the swan.....

Good afternoon We are saddened to receive such a bad review. If you could provide the date of your visit and let us know the food that was served poorly we will be able to look into this issue. Given that we have been here some 18 months now, our menu is our own and we certainly do not try...

Just popped in for a quick beer with the wife. Nice friendly pub in a lovely area. Staff were very welcoming and the beer was good. Noticed they do B & B and serve food. We didn't eat here but the menu looked ok with reasonable prices as well.

This is our first visit when since it has had new management and we were happy with our meal. The lunches were enjoyed by all after a short wait. The service was friendly. We'll be visiting again soon.

Wondered if this was the same pub we have visited once a week for the past few weeks as the revues are so mixed! First of all, this is the first time I have submitted a review of the Shady Oak since it changed management earlier in the year. We have found the new staff, generally two young ladies, friendly...

Having driven passed earlier in the week on family holiday we decided to eat here. Husband went in to ask if they had a table for 6 including 2 under 5's. Only 3 menus given and we had to ask for children's menu. Food ordered at 18.30 food arrived over one hour later. When questioning the unhelpful staff they stated...

If visiting Beeston Castle, this is very close by and convenient. It is quite a small pub but has outside seating next to the canal. The food and drinks are quite standard but cooked well and at a reasonable price. It did take awhile for it to arrive but all were hot and good to eat.

Staff told us that they were busy and had no where to seat us, every table was free but one, and they stuff 5 of us and a dog into the corner, it was a squeeze. It took an hour just for some cheap old mircowaved freezed food, looked pathetic really, food was tasteless just normal supermarket food, no fresh...

Had a lovely one-night stay in this pretty area of the Peak District. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were quite large, as were the bathrooms. Everything had just been redecorated so was very fresh. The towels were very fluffy! Also had a nice evening meal there, portions were huge; the only disappointment was breakfast. Very expensive...
