The hotel is now called l'Entre-Mer. I don't know if it recently changed owner or just remarketing. Rooms are not too big, but nice and at a good price. Very quiet hotel. There were festivities in the restaurant, but we didn't notice anything. Breakfast was very good with even bacon and scrambled eggs. The baguette is super. Staff was very friendly too. Very convenient location next to Batterie Todd and Cap Griz Nez. The bar is a bit pricy and quite small. I would return.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The welcome was warm, the food good and the location wonderful. After a couple of drinks in the evening sunshine with a view of the Channel, we went in to a delicious dinner which had been cooked with care. We both chose a plate of cured meats, pork rillettes and salad with fresh bread to start. I had cod with a creamy Dieppoise sauce (prawns and mushrooms) accompanied by a vol au vent filled with ratatouille. The fish was cooked to perfection with really tasty additions. I followed this with a fluffy and flavoursome chocolate mousse. My parther chose mussels and followed it with chocolate ice cream. We enjoyed a carafe of house wine, a very palatable Sauvignon blanc. The rooms look very plain and basic but the double beds are fabulously comfortable and enormous. You can have them separated as two singles if you wish. The whole place is spotlessly clean. The TV isn't cable but after some fiddling about I managed to find a couple of British channels but no radio. Good internet wi-fi over the whole site. Our rooms were on the ground floor - good for us as we have mobility problems. There is one room with a walk in shower rather than a bath, and will remember to ask for that one another time - and we will be returning! We just about managed the walk from the car park which has two disabled spaces. It is a flat pathway but quite rough. A wheelchair or walking frame might struggle with it and you cannot get a car any closer. It might be a bit of a wet and bleak walk in inclement weather to get to the front door. Maybe they will make a more direct path in time but I think they are trying to encourage the local bushes and plants to grow around the site. Nice buffet breakfast in the morning with fresh bread and croissants and plenty of choice of cereals, yoghurt, eggs, cold ham and cheese and juices. They could learn how to make tea properly! Choose your teabags from the box and hand them over for the water to be added or you will get hot water in your teapot on the assumption that you will put the bag in the cup! My partner said the coffee was good I didn't bother making tea in the room this time, the cup provided was only big enough for expresso coffee but I am sure the owners would happily provide you with a bigger one and some milk. The restaurant is closed on Wednesday evenings and all day Thursday, there are nearby alternatives but not walking distance. No traffic noise at all at night - perfect silence. Pull the blinds if the nearby Cap Gris Nez lighthouse keeps you awake! Easy and pleasant half hour drive from Calais along the coastal road. There is beach access and lookout points off the road.

The hotel and restaurant are both great, simple rooms but well furnished and provisioned and very clean and well maintained. Food in the restaurant follows the same theme, nothing too exciting but well cooked and nicely presented.

The hosts are a lovely couple, very warm and welcoming. Both speak english and are very personable. The room we had was CLEAN large and the bed very comfortable. The location is right by the Todt Battery which is a a WW11 attraction and well worth the visit.

If you are traveling to/from northern France via Calais, La Samoria is a convenient stop-over situated a few miles off the A16 and just 30 minutes or so from the ferry terminal / Eurotunnel station. The accommodation is basic, but adequate for a one-night stop-over. However, a number of problems during our stay mean that we will not be staying there again: - Apparently, the chef had broken his wrist so some items on the restaurant menu (pizzas, pasta dishes, etc) were not available. - Given the limited menu, we ordered burgers which arrived burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. - An alarm went off around 11.00pm just as we going to sleep, and continued for some 30 minutes. - At breakfast, the food on the buffet table was covered with flies. - My wife was served her breakfast coffee in a cracked mug. We asked the waitress for a replacement mug, but this was also cracked. - The bill bore little resemblance to what we had actually had to eat and drink.

Very convenient for a one-night stop enroute to the Channel Tunnel. Good walks for the dog, too. Management and staff were very friendly and helpful and very quick to sort out any problems. Rooms were a little characterless, but perfectly adequate. Food in the bistro restaurant was reasonably priced and hearty.

Booked this for an overnight stay and it was exactly what we needed! The rooms are functional and clean. The restaurant unfortunately was closed (presumably because it was so quiet) but we were directed to a local brassiere which was 5 minutes away and very good. After a good nights sleep we had a continental breakfast! We weren't offered an English breakfast as advertised but we didn't miss it. The only reason for only 3 stars is the amount of flies at breakfast....I'm guessing this is because they were working on the land outside and not a regular occurrence but still, it wasn't very nice to have to share the restaurant with them.
