We’ve stayed here before. The location is brilliant and the interior decoration of the hotel is fashionably shabby chic but sadly the service lets the place down.
As other reviewers have expressed the dining staff can barely be bothered and any service you are lucky enough to receive is incredibly slow and accompanied with audible groans and complaints about how hard the
waitress is having to work, despite an almost empty restaurant. At one point I was told off for helping myself the inclusive breakfast and an expensive dinner on my last night was inedible.
After six nights I had the impression that any staff meeting must encourage hotel staff to extract as much money out of the guests as possible. At one point they tried to charge me to fill up a hot water bottle! And two small bottles of still water in the rooms are not free despite a room rate of $950 a night!!!
Sadly I won’t be returning.
As with similar stays along the pristine pink sand beach, being right on the water makes every night such a relaxed experience hearing the waves crashing throughout a quiet sleep and every morning a breathtaking experience, particularly at sunrise given it’s facing east.
The decor and ambiance are very tasteful and the food very tasty. The honor system self-service bar is a nice touch as well.
The staff is for the most part quite nice and helpful albeit slightly understaffed and as everything here, on “island time”, fine if you have nothing else to do, but needs a bit of poking if you have bookings around the island.
The ocean water is amazingly clear if a little chilly in January and the room shower’s hot water is at best lukewarm but very soft on the skin.
Overall a very pleasant stay that made us feel very much like we had done our homework prior to find the best fit for us.

OVC is set on an absolutely gorgeous beach and the hotel/accommodations are wonderful. Where we feel OVC falls short is with the service all around. My husband summed it up perfectly - it just felt like the hotel/staff/etc...needs attention and training from ownership. We know COVID hit the hotel sector extremely hard and we can look past a lightbulb being out or a sheet being less than brand new but what's hard to overlook is a lack of communication, planning and service towards the guests especially when the cost per night is north of $750 and food costing close to another $750 per day if you eat the three meals at the hotel.
