On the surface, we had a large room with a large bathroom, with a nice view of the pool. There are maintenance issues, however. We discovered after dinner that our patio door lock was broken; we were on the ground floor. Anyone could have entered our room while we were out. The shutters for the bathroom didn't shut all the way; I would not recommend booking the Jr suite for anyone other than a couple, there is very little bathroom privacy.
The AC was supposedly individually controlled, but they don't allow you to set it below a certain temperature (I'm failing to recall but something like 72°?). Suffice it to say, I was too hot to sleep.
The pool was FULL of bugs, I don't know if the pump and filter weren't working or what, but I've never seen a pool that full of bugs. An above ground pool with a tiny pump does a better job! The walk to the beach is pretty long; it does not appear that they offer a shuttle. We were here for only 1 night so did not rent a golf cart; if you can park a golf cart along the beach path, I would recommend doing that.

Thank you so much for your recent visit and kind words about our resort. You are correct that our room AC units are kept at 72 degrees and we are sorry to hear that this is not a cool enough temperature for you. We will immediately research which room you stayed in fix the patio door to make sure this does not happen again. Please note we do have a pool cleaning team at the resort every morning right at 7 am. We hope you will stay longer on your next visit, and we will help you arrange a golf cart!

Valentines is a fantastic boutique yacht club/ resort, which is way better than other similarly priced places in the Bahamas or Harbour Island. The property is located on the bay side of the island and has beautiful grounds, a really stunning (newly refurbished) pool, a great coffee shop, gym, on site (excellent) dive centre and a vibey bar (away from the rooms) in the evenings. It has big comfortable beds and hot showers (unlike some other places on the island! ive stayed at) It is really well managed and the staff and managers are so friendly and cant do enough for you. I almost had a sore arm from being waved and waving back so much during my stay ! The photos on website dont do it justice to show how lovely and pretty this place is.Ive given it 5 stars although tbh its prob 4.5 only because the service was so wonderful and location so pretty and the rooms big. If you are Kim Kardashian or a Shipping Billionaire you probably wont stay here. because its not a brash place, or an ultra lux place,The crowd who stay here are younger, and friendlier than other places on the island. Dont get me wrong this is not a spring break place - Its great for upmarket wedding parties, friends traveling together, couples, its not a crazy, party place but has a fun, busy, buzzy bar, its for yachties arriving , friends gathering, family reunions, or couples who want a relaxed lovely environment with excellent service and facilities - wifi is amazing btw! and pool is serene and to die for. if you arent staying at the Dunmore or in expensive private accomodation, this seriously is a great option. and in all honestly Dunmore and Ocean View aside ....better.... I think - you can go to those places for dinner or lunch, spend a fortune, and come back here after for a nice drink at the bar after and spend the money you save on other places on excursions and seeing the swimming pigs etc The island is small enough you really dont need to pay huge prices for a beach resort (and prob wont get a beach view in most of them anyway). This is a very, very good option on this wonderful island. Contrary to a couple of other reviewers I had no problem checking in here early and also a friend was due to come out and couldnt because of Covid and she got an instant refund, and all other guests I met said how friendly and helpful the staff were. I would recommend Valentines any day for anyone coming to HI who doesnt want an ultimate once in a lifetime stay , but if you want a cool, casual upmarket boutique resort to give you very happy memories for life , then.. this is your place !

We were on Harbour Island for a wedding and the “recovery brunch” was held at Valentines. They offered a brunch of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs , breakfast potatoes, mini pancakes, sausage and bacon, and more. It was fresh and delicious. We were so impressed we came back that night to watch football at their outdoor bar and have dinner. It’s a beautiful location and the food was delicious.

We booked a 5-night stay at Valentine’s Resort and are currently on our third night, with two nights remaining. Here are several issues have detracted from the experience so far:
1. Noise Issues: The biggest problem is the noise from upstairs—every step, bathtub filling, and toilet flushing from upstairs is clearly audible. We requested a room change, but the issue persisted, confirming it’s the flooring. With the resort fully booked, we had no choice but to endure it. Last night, the guests above us returned after 11 PM, their loud footsteps echoing across the floor and waking us up. The noise continued for some time, making it impossible to fall back asleep and leaving us frustrated.
2. Housekeeping Concerns: Despite requesting service with the door sign, our room was not cleaned on the first day. On the second day, we returned to find that the bed was made, but no cleaning or towel replacement had been done. About an hour later, someone knocked and asked if we needed service. On the third day, we had to personally ask for housekeeping and fetch towels ourselves.
3. Room Maintenance: The drawer in the room wouldn’t stay closed, resulting in an injury when I accidentally hit the sharp corner. This could have been easily fixed.
4. Mosquito Troubles: A broken mosquito net led to a sleepless first night, with mosquitoes buzzing and leaving bites. This also could have been resolved with a simple fix.
At $1200 per night, we expected a much higher standard of service and comfort. While the resort’s location and potential are undeniable, these issues have significantly impacted our stay. This review is shared to help others make informed decisions.

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the hotel feel short in several areas. First off the room had an order and the temperature could not be adjusted. I'm a cancer patient and require cooler inside temperature. I called the front desk and was told that they would send maintenance. They never did and I inquired later that day if my money could be refunded because of my health issue. I was told NO. This was very astonishing and disappointing of how rude the front desk was on answering and responding to my simple request. We stayed 2 days and was glad to leave. The view was beautiful but we would rather spend more money for comfort and customer service that we have grown accustomed to. On the second day our bed was had sand in the sheets this was very upsetting. We would not stay here ever again.

For the steep rates we have been charged we were expecting superior service, which is not what we have received:
On the first day, room cleaning was incomplete; the kitchen area was left entirely untouched.
On the second day, no cleaning was conducted at all. Despite service staff arriving at 4:30 PM and promising to clean the room shortly after, it was never completed.
Maintenance Issues:
TV cabinet door broken and the terrace mosquito screen detached remained unresolved
On our final night, the toilet flushing system failed. Upon inspection, I noticed severe rusting, which rendered the unit almost unusable.
All these issues were detailed also in a mail to the manager, after a month my mail is still unanswered, is this the customer focus a top-notch hotel is proud of?

We spent the day on Harbour Island. We first dined waterside where celebrities / wealthy arrive in yachts. We had followed a sign that said “Lobster Quesadillas” but security informed us that 1. it was not lobster season and 2. regular people could eat there. So we had amaaaaaaazing $30 snapper ceviche.
Later on, we dined at the Valentines bar. The server was grouchy. The conch soup tasted like a can of tomato soup was poured with a can of vegetable soup and some wee-bits of conch were added. It was lukewarm. I was actually offended that someone would try to charge money for it. The bread pudding was a warm carrot-cake muffin with whipped cream around it. Why would anybody call that bread pudding?

Very disappointed in this resort, we paid over $1200 per night for.
If you are searching for a hotel with "beach" and "pool" I would take these two criteria off of this listing. The beach was literally the public beach with private chairs set up. There was zero service at the beach, no place for drinks, food, no toy rentals, etc. Nothing. It is completely empty because of this issue. Guests give up and eventually end up at Ms. V's where you can easily rent chair set up for $25, she has great drinks and serves lunch/ snacks, has free beach toys for kids and you can rent boogie boards. It is very lively where she is on the exact same beach of "pink" sands. So, save some money and get a place without a beach amenity. The pool is lackluster, again, no staff. The picture of the guy at the bar serving, is not true, they do have the set up but there is no alcohol or happy face. No music in the background, nothing. So take that off of your criteria or find a hotel with a more charming pool than this.
Cleanliness and maintenance is also a problem. There was trash all over the place in the garden beds, the same trash was in the beds outside our room the entire stay. Plastic bottles to paper wrappers... not well kept at all. I went to the front desk for something and there were 3 people there needing something fixed in their room. Our room had a broken seal to the shower and lights out, AC not working well... and we just didn't bother telling them, it was clear they don't care for the upkeep. You also have to ask to have your room cleaned! For the price you would think they would include and it is, but you have to ask. We didn't get fresh pool towels until the 3rd day, which is why I was in the lobby.
Loud, we didn't get one good night's sleep there between the rooster and the noise from outside/ rooms above us. Poor construction and we heard every move.
We did really like a few waitresses and Kurt who helps with baggage, etc. Some waitresses we couldn't figure out until my husband said it feels like we are putting them out to order something. (the bigger guy especially and he couldn't look us in the eye).
So, know what you are getting and maybe look for something better for the money.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property and please do accept our sincerest apologies for your inconveniences. The input and constructive feedback from you, and from all of our guests, is vitally important to us. We are aware that some of the photos on the website are in need of updating and we have scheduled a photo shoot to get images that more accurately reflect our suites and resort. You are correct that the Valentines Guests Reserved section of the beach does not have drink or activity service. WE find most of our guests are looking for peace and tranquility. Miss V’s is a great place to go for more a more party scene. Our pool bar is only open for service when we have a large group or high occupancy at the resort. Please note that we do have daily maid service included with all stays. They only time a request for cleaning would need to be made is if there was a Do Not Disturb sign on the door when the team when to the room in the morning. We also have a landscaping and pool team that come to the resort every morning at 7 am, so there should never be any trash on the grounds for more than a short time. We are sorry that there were some issues with your room, and again, we do have a maintenance team that inspects the rooms between each visit, but it does sound like they need a refresher! We do hope you will give us another chance to impress you.

While the setting is great and the room size is good the rooms suffer from a serious mildew odour particularly the clothing dressers. If you opened a dresser drawer you would be overcome by an incredibly powerful mildew smell. We are talking it was so bad you could taste it. Honestly the smell ruined the visit. Burn the dressers and replace them. You are never getting rude if that smell.

Had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday once again on Harbor Island.
First and foremost, we encountered nothing but professionalism at Valentine's Resort. The front desk ladies, and Curt the attendant were superb.
In addition, we dined at the Rooster Bar- I would highly recommend their grilled chicken caesar salad with the conch chowder soup.
