Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort & Villas is celebrated for its exceptionally clean, private rooms with picturesque beachfront views, despite some guests finding the decor a bit rustic. The serene beachside atmosphere and well-maintained facilities receive accolades, complemented by a friendly and attentive staff that enhances the welcoming vibe. While the resort offers a range of water activities and maintains a clean environment, a few travelers express concerns over the value, citing overpricing and a desire for additional in-room amenities like TVs.

The beach at Cape Santa Maria is truly one of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere. The water is crystal clear and sand is like white powder it is so fine. Our two bedroom villa was gorgeous and having a screened in porch to sit out at night or early in the morning was wonderful. If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing getaway with luxury accomodations and good food, this is ideal.

Best place on the island to stay - nice, large very clean rooms with big patios and the best part is the gorgeous beach that is just steps away from your room! Good food at the restaurant as well (and not many options close to the resort for meals ou)t. Long Island is not touristy or fancy at all, so don't expect it. Having a car really enhanced our experience of the overall island.

The most beautiful setting. Accommodations are great. Beds are very hard so some people liked it and some didn’t. Pillows are terrible. Views are exquisite! Some staff are amazing! Brittany and Steve come to mind. The daily staff really are the most important people at the resort. They care about their customers. Weirdly, operations manager “A” walks around and says hi but doesn’t introduce herself and title, so I thought she was just another guest at first. We had received promise of a certain bungalow for months but when we arrived, did not get. The operations manager never addressed concerns, but left that to her staff. Who were gracious. So just be aware of this. Investigate making private boating experiences as the cape just takes a cut I was led to believe. The people doing boat/fishing trips were all amazing - especially Burt who made special “trips for elderly parent and young grandchild.

We have visited Long Island back in June 2021 and fell in love with Cape Santa Maria region - at the time we had stayed in the south and drove 2 days in a row 1.5h each way to experience this beauty... so needless to say when my wife's birthday was coming up and she has told me in the past how much she loved it... well I had to make it happen and we, despite pretty hefty price tag, stayed here this time at the stunning Cape Santa Maria Resort - and we loved it! :) Location: 1.5h drive from the LGI airport... or 20m drive from the smaller SML airport... if you go Bahamas Air then the long drive is the only option, otherwise you can land at SML and take a super short one and enjoy the CSM right away :) this was our 2 visit and considering how the other airlines changed on us the first time I have decided to go with the national scheduled airline this time, despite the long drive... now that you are at Cape Santa Maria... this is our top 3 beach location we had seen ever, and we had seen a lot when it comes to tropical beauties :) once here you really dont need to leave, it's got it all! Room: the little bungalows were very cozy, though some wear and tear showed, definitely for the price paid some TLC could have been applied, though other than that it was perfect - we truly appreciated the patio with the net, especially in the morning - loved picking up morning coffee and brining it back to the room to chill in the morning, plus the views - otherwise room is fairly basic but what really do you need? (unless you stay in those high end villas) - no TV, but with a safe, decent A/C, mini fridge, perfect for a stay Food & restaurants: the restaurant on the spot is def pricey with the % tax etc included but the food is tasty, people friendly, views amazing... perfect combo - otherwise it's about 15-20m drive from here and nothing really to rave about Hotel Grounds: we loved the evening strolls along the shoreline on the "mini boardwalk" - the friendly local cat would even join us from time to time :) it's a cozy small waterfront "village" with some palms trees, greenery etc. Beach: Cape Santa Maria, CSM! CSM! We fell in loved with it 4 years ago, we had seen by then Bora Bora, Exuma and the like - but this was the place we returned to - we absolutely love it and think it's still a hidden gem, as is really Long Island, Bahamas (maybe it's the name?) just look at the pictures... Things to do: CSM... and then if you are up for exploring def do see the Dean's Blue Hole while on Long Island, it's a must... after that maybe the Columbus Point and the Erna's Nature Pool at Stella Maris - Long Island has a lot of cool places to visit, but it's a looooooooong island to drive through and once you are here make the most out of this stunning location Overall: it was cool to return to this stunning place, especially as the resort guest rather than just chilling on the beach + lunch experience, we had fun during morning and evenings here at CSM - definitely a cozzy and laid back place, CSM! CSM! :)

We very much enjoyed our stay at this secluded resort. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The available activities were fun, as was relax time on the white sanded beach. Ideal for relaxation and quiet, not for those that want parties and entertainment laid on. One caveat is that the dining experience is average at best.

Stay at paradise. White sand beaches with beautiful aqua blue waters right outside your room. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant has a good mix of Bahamian meals and traditional tourist options. Lots of amenities. Loved our stay.

First and foremost, the beach is incredible. Food is decent and the staff for the most part is nice. However, I got absolutely eaten alive but sand flies, mosquitos and … hence the title bed bugs. I asked the front office if they’ve had issues in the past and they said “no it must have been sand flies.” However, there is only one bug that bites in the middle of the night and in straight lines, groups of three and in a triangle shape. The “bed bug triangle”. Don’t believe me? Look at the pictures. Don’t waste your money here because now not only am I in pain, itchy and sleep deprived I have too quarantine my gd luggage when I get home.

It breaks my heart to write this review, but I feel it's absolutely necessary before one of our favorite spots is ruined. I'm writing it after seeing another repeat guest's review, which 100% echoes the experience we had when we visited in 2023. I was contacted by a different repeat guest early in 2023 to ask if I knew why Matt had left (which I did not know at the time), and to tell me how sad and depressing their recent stay had been, due to the oppressive new management. Despite hearing these alarming things, we decided to go again in 2023 after having been in prior years. What a sad and difficult experience that was... One of the very best things about CSM is the staff. What an absolute JOY they are. So sweet and kind and work so hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. All of that, gone. Everyone working there is under this black cloud of worry and sadness the entire time. We have a close bond with several of the employees, and asked what in the world is going on?! We were told the new management is just extremely difficult to work for. For example, they have installed cameras everywhere to monitor the workers. Very Big Brother and absolutely disgusting way to treat people who have worked faithfully for you for many years, as a lot of these folks have. Every interaction we had with the female "manager" was forced and awkward, and she has zero business in a front of the house hospitality position. The male manager followed the food service staff around acting like he did not trust them to do their jobs, and every single employee we spoke to acts intimidated, unhappy and miserable. It's a literal 180-degree shift from our other visits over the years, as others have said. I felt like I was visiting a ghost of the resort of our past. PLEASE find new management for this gem of a place - before it's too late.

I love everything about Long Island, however this resort has become over priced for what you get. The biggest negative is the food quality. For this kind of money I would expect more. I have been coming here for many years and the menu has never changed.
