We chose the Stiholt hotel due to its proximity to Frederikshavn port (less than 15 minutes drive) and the relatively cheap price (for Denmark at least). Having read reviews of the hotel I'd say we pretty much got what we expected. The room was simple, quite basic, but fairly comfortable and clean, albeit a tad shabby around the edges. Ensuite bathroom was similarly basic but did the job. Breakfast was also ok, with cereals, breads, meats etc. Staff at the petrol station were very friendly and helpful during our stay. As a cheap hotel, attached to a petrol station (you check in at the counter you pay for petrol) it doesn't promise to be something it's not, but provides basic rooms at a reasonable price. Definitely worth considering as an overnight before or after the ferry to Norway.…
No nonsense overnight accomodation. Clean, good beds, OK bathroom and shower. excellent breakfast. Not the place for a holiday, but very good for an overnight stay.
The Stiholt hotel is a good place to stay if you're taking the boat from Frederikshaven the next day. The hotel is a 15 minute drive from the harbor. For 65 euros per night+ breakfast, I thought it was a good deal. The room was very simple but clean. And there where quilts instead of those awful sheets with a scratchy wool blanket, which I thought was a bonus. The breakfast was ok, don't expect anything superfancy there was bread, cheese, meat, jams, cereals etc. If you arrive in the evening, the Saeby centre is about 10 minutes away (by car). It's a nice little town with plenty of dinner options.
