This was 4 days of heaven away from the frenetic pace of everyday existence. To watch the sea with a dog and cat to cuddle, to walk among the hills and shorelines close by and to enjoy the wonderful cooking of a relaxed, welcoming host really calmed and refreshed me. My room looked out over the garden with the sea...

When we first walked in, there was classical music playing and this wonderful view of garden then sea. I wanted to cry, it was like a piece of instant de-stress! Perfect location for walking (even with 2 rather resistant teenagers); walked up Goatfell from there (taxi back from Brodick £20 as we ate out and missed the last bus back)...

My partner, his parents and I spent a four-day weekend at Darven Cottage. It has been the most relaxing and energising get-away I have had in years. If you are looking for an absolutely peaceful place nestled in most stunning surroundings, this is the place for you. The beach, which starts right where the lovely garden ends is beautiful and...

There are loads of great places to stay on Arran, but for us this is by far the best. Not only is the cottage a cosy, comfortable home away from home, it has brilliant scenery, a beach and a whole host of things to explore. We stayed with three little ones, who were delighted with the safe garden to play...

We stayed in Darven Cottage when visiting friends on the island and David was a fantastic host, who also cooked an evening meal for ourselves and our friends. The evening meal was excellent with a Moroccan themed leg of lamb with spices and apricots, and Scottish dessert (cannot remember the name). Breakfasts were superb with full Scottish breakfast if you...

Staying at Darven Cottage made our first visit to Arran so good that we have booked to return for a longer visit to the island, staying there again. The location is lovely and relaxing, with beautiful views of the beach and sea from the windows and direct access for a walk along the beach. There are a couple of local...

I stayed at Darven Cottage for a few days in May, and it was brilliant. David is a very welcoming and generous host, and made me feel at home straight away, which is ideal when you are travelling on your own. It was lovely to hang out with Ruby, the gorgeous Golden Retriever, not to mention the adorable cats. Darven...

Our stay in Darven Cottage was unforgetable experience. We have loved not only the pets and surroundings of the house, but also Dave's cuisine. We have appreciated the most of the stuff was prepared from fresh ingredients especially. Thank you very much Dave and we are looking forward to visiting your house again!

The Isle of Arran is a magical place, and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our holiday. Darven Cottage is amazing. From the moment we arrived, David and Diane made us feel completely at home and part of the family. David is a brilliant cook, and made us dinner the evening we arrived, and wonderful breakfasts...
