It is advisable to be very careful about this lodge accommodation as the standard of rooms appear to vary quite widely and you must be recognisant of the fact that once you are here you may have few options (or none at all) and need to know exactly what to expect. Should you have walked in from the Queen Charlotte...

Dear Bevan Thank you for your recent review and we regret that you do appear out of your comfort zone here. Your family group booked your room here, they emailed us regarding meals several days before your stay and the normal jumbo pizzas range we offered were actually supplied on the night. So there were really no surprises here as...

We arrive late due to a delay in an event we had been at and the hosts kindly left the lights on for us and the key in the door to our room. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The facilities were fantastic, the kitchen had everything we needed including a coffee plunger! Even has a microwave as well...

Clean, fairly quiet, very friendly, comfortable and spacey rooms, well equipped, great spa, good views. We enjoyed our porch and the children and I made use of the kayaks at the nearby beach and walk. To get into some of the kitchen, lounge and spa you had to walk around the house, but that was alright.

Overall the place was clean- Big screen TV and lounge nice and comfortable good heat. Pots and pans were old some burnt-some wobbly- could use some newer cook gear. Cutting boards were dirty and there was no toilet paper in bathroom when we arrived. Although it looks like you can view the water from the place we could not see...

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay at the lodge and we certainly agree that the pots and cutting boards were looking tired and have now been replaced – thanks for bringing this to our attention. The lack of bathroom tissue is inexcusable, we trust it was replaced promptly upon request. We note that your Airbnb booking was...

This place definitely checked all the boxes, and the staff were great with the small things (e.g. getting up at 4am to get the TV working in...

Could a hostel get better? A double room for $90 equipped with towels and a massive double bed with an electric blanket if we get cold. This then includes spa pool use, free kayak hire in Marlborough sounds where you can see sting rays and starfish etc. It's cheaper to stay here with a friend than to get a dorm...

Anakiwa Lodge was not your typical backpackers - it was exceptionaly quiet and clean, with well-maintained facilities. We stayed in the family room which could comfortably sleep up to 5 (and was quiet due to being a bit separate from the other rooms). The spa was a very nice touch, and the kitchen was good. There's a movie room with...

I had a wonderful evening and night at Anakiwa Lodge. After two days of mountain biking on the Queen Charlotte track, I was very happy to find a clean, bright and fully equipped place like this one. We stayed a night in Anakiwa and it is a lovely little place. The lodge is only a minute away from the water and it is a big house with lots of rooms. We had a twin room at the back. It had its own balcony with table and chairs so it was great to sit out and enjoy dinner...
