We have wanted to visit for years but it has always been full for up to a year in advance. During the present situation, we practically had the place to ourselves. We brought along our 2 young grandsons. The room was spacious even with 2 cots added to the king size bed. Best part of the room was the feather pillows, a rarity for hotels. I had brought my own in case. The restaurant featured wild game and fruits and was very well presented. We took in a short tour of the attached museum, longhouse, church and creation park. All stops were animated by costumed interpreters. They all gave excellent presentations on aspects of Wendake (Huron) culture. We returned to the longhouse after supper for indigenous story time. Staff in the hotel were smiley and curtious. At night I roamed the street. It is a prosperous town with many traditional old Quebec homes. The streets were empty after dark.…
Really nice hotel and facilities, and the museum / walking tour is amazing. Great Family experience - something unique and different. Highly recommend it for families. Swimming pool is great, hiking trails good - food delicious!
Great concept. Only 20 minutes from the old town of Quebec city. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, with a touch of wendake decoration. Very good breakfast buffet with lots of choices. The restaurant La Traite offers great authentic terroir cuisine with wendake influence. Friendly staff. Must try the myths and legends event at the long house. Must also visit the museum...make sure you get a guide. Kid friendly including activities for kids. Bravo to the wendats for sharing their culture in such a great setting. All first nations should do the same.
Hotel-Musee Premières Nations has been one of our preferred getaway for the past decade, and on average we’ve made 2 trips each year. It had always been a great destination to get away from the hustle bustle of the city and enjoy the exotic ambiance, while being just 20 minutes away from Old Quebec and 10 minutes away from Valcartier village. We always reserve the « wendake » room with a kingsize bed, and on one occasion we had the room in the basement which was not our first choice and we were told to make sure we mention it next time we book. We did so many times and it works out nicely... The last time we went, to our dismay, we were given the basement room and yet we had booked 2 months earlier. We shared our disappointment and the receptionist got irritated, showed absolutely no empathy and kept saying there’s no guarantee of honouring any customer’s request and it’s written black on white in the policy... I can understand that but I have a hard time digesting the attitude and tone... she also mentioned that there was a big group that had reserved 6 months earlier and the entire floor was reserved for them, so she cannot pull someone to give us the wendake room on the 1st floor. Listening to that, I realized if the floor was reserved in advance then at the time that we had made the reservation and asked for a room on the first or 2nd floor, the reservation staff should have mentioned it, and we would have probably made an advised decision of knowing we will only have the basement room and may be we would have changed date for the getaway. We were extremely tired after a long ride and had no choice to take whatever was given to us!! Is it a coincidence or not, the next day after breakfast we left the hotel at 10 am and went on an excursion, and when we were back at 4:30 pm, our room was not done....this is the first time it happened that our room is not done by end of the afternoon in so many years that we’ve been at this hotel. We called the receptionist and she sent the lady from housekeeping and when she came she thought we needed some amenities....and she was on her way out. She said it’s been busy, she apologized and mentioned that our room is the last one to be done ... Well, what I drew out from this disappointed experience is that we are just a client among so many....…
We did our usual winter getaway weekend with our daughter and her friend, and the hotel was up to its usual standards. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy, with tasteful décor and comfy beds. The service is excellent, as is the food.
