A good distance west of the Highway 400 beaten track, this resort boasts a pleasant environment and inexpensive rates. Choose between cottage rentals and a 'motel' building overlooking the lake that nevertheless is roomy and potentially comfortable, good for a short term. The on-site restaurant is cosy, with an okay but limited menu (maybe interesting German food shows up sometimes).
Might be noisy in busy season as it has a huge parking lot, pictured in a brochure with large numbers of vehicles (ATVs?) and potentially full of snowmobiles in winter; perhaps motorboat launches in summer. (So spring or fall may be best.)
If allergic to artificial scents, bring your own sheets or be prepared to air out the supplied ones.

Beautiful place to stop and relax. The cottages are right on the lake. You can rent a canoe and go for a peddle. We decided to explore and drive up to Parry Sound for a ride on a seaplane overlooking Georgian Bay Islands. The owners are very helpful and will answer all your question about the area. We arrived late on our arrival date but it was no problem to make us dinner. Excellent service!
The cabin was clean, heated and all the necessary things were available. We can definitely recommend staying here to everyone!

We stayed here on July 29th, we were lucky enough to find cottage #2 available for 1 night only. We did everything in the last minute and I needed a place close to that area. We did not have much expectations and we were amazed about the incredible place we discover, the cottage was very nice, right in front of the lake, it's together with another 2 cottages, camp fire, private deck. Diane and Andy are very friendly, they are a German couple that owns the place, very nice people. We rented a motor
boat to go around the lake, canoe and kayak rental are also available. There were some people fishing. Price very affordable. Over all a great experience for us.

Stayed there with another couple and stayed in the row units located on this beautiful lake.Checked into our room and was happy to see it Was cleaner than I expected, lot of cottages places smell of mold, mildew, old but not this room. Room was a nice size with patio doors looking over lake. Had an excellent dinner in their restaurant , had their special German rolandan.Rent a cottage for next time

In the last five years, we have been visiting this place at least four times. Last time it was July 2015, when we had a family reunion of about 20 people, for two weeks. We all agreed that it was great, everybody enjoyed it a lot. We rented the three cottages, placed separately from the motel, with their own barbecue, sandy beach, unobstructed view of the lake, parking, fire pit, etc.Rooms and kitchen were spotless and well appointed; owners very prompt in meeting our needs. The menu in restaurant is reasonable; don't miss Leo's soups and salads (all made from scratch). Diana ( that I call Marina Vlady, after the beautiful French Russian actress of the 60's) and her husband run this place with a friendly smile, and good care of the visitors. We keep coming back because we like them, the secluded place, the beautiful, quiet lake. You will like it too, if you value what we do. Dr.Mia Musolan

We stayed at H&H resort August 2014. I was very excited to find a place with a great location. I felt very deceived though when we arrived for several reasons.

The pictures on the website are very outdated making you think this resort is one way when clearly you get there it is not.

Nice sandy playground=overgrown grassy playground.

Basketball=old basketball rim, missing the net beside the grassy playground in said grass.

Free wifi=only available in the restaurant while the owner is looking over your shoulder. He actually scolded my 9 year old daughter for using her kindle because she should be outside enjoying the outdoors. I have never been treated so rudely in my life.

Sandy beach=We asked very specifically how far the water was from the resort. We were told it was shallow water about 50 yards away. The resort sits on top of a hill with a steep incline down to water. It is only shallow for about foot, then it drops instantly. (A huge deal since we had young child)

The Actual Beach=a walk through the woods to sandy beach in front of cottages making you feel like you're intruding on their space.

Motor Boat Rental=This was a nice option, however the boat in the picture is very nice and this boat was worn and had chipping paint everywhere.

Room=Plus**size was very nice with two separate areas, one for sleeping, one a kitchen/dining area.
However, there was a blood spot on the sheets of one of our beds. The owner did come in and change it and said he must have had a cut on his finger when he was making it earlier. The bathroom window did not have a curtain and you could clearly see into the shower, we covered it with a garbage bag. The whole room was damp for our entire week stay. Trash cans were broken with jagged edges, a hazard for children.

We should have known how our stay was going to be when my husband go into an argument about how our 9 year old daughter was treated for wanting to use her kindle. We were told that we needed to loosen up as we were on vacation. My husband asked to speak with the owner, and the rude man said he would have his brother come talk to us. We discovered the rest of the problems by the time the owner did come talk to us. We asked for a refund or a partial refund and the owner flat out refused. We ended up staying because we were there for our brothers wedding and couldn't afford to go anywhere else at that point. The only plus about this resort is we did see some cool snapping turtles at night when were down by the dock at night. Also, the location is close to a lot of things.

Took a room for 1 night to try some different snowmobile trails and was pleasantly surprised with the location and the food. The room was spacious and bright and in the summertime a deck overlooks the water. The room was nice and warm when we arrived and we were given early check in without any problem.
The only things were were unprepared for was 1) no coffee maker 2) no hairdryer and 3) no shampoo in the bathroom. I probably should have paid better attention to the amenities. Breakfast was delicious and I believe it gets very busy for lunch and I can see why. It's always nice to be able to sled to the door as well.

My daughter and I luved staying here. If you want peace and quite then this is the place for you. We stayed in one of the motel rooms, which overlooked the lake. Accommodation is basic, but what else do you need other than somewhere clean and tidy? Hosts were very helpful during our stay, didn't eat at the restaurant as we were out exploring for most of our time. Kapikog lake is beautiful and we were so pleased to see that there were kayaks available to rent - well worth it. We saw bears, chipmunks and racoons during our stay. Perfect wildness setting.

My family has visited Kapikog lake almost every summer of my life. One highlight of that trip is always a visit to the restaurant at H&H Resort. A very nice German family owns and operates the marina, restaurant and resort. I'd like to address a few concerns I saw from other reviewers:

Germans in general are very direct with a dry sense of humor. This can come across as rude to those who are unfamiliar, though that is rarely the intent.

Due to the remote location internet access is spotty and expensive. Do not expect to be able to stream video or even reliably view websites. Take the opportunity to unplug and enjoy the fresh pine-scented air!

Yes the menu is limited but as far as I'm concerned there's really only 5 things you need to see. If you haven't had German food cooked by a real German you should try the Jagershnitzle or the Rouladin. If German cuisine isn't your thing the Rib and Wing combo and the Pickerel are both excellent. Finally no meal is complete without a slice of Leo's blueberry pie.

I have never stayed at the hotel or cabins so I can't comment at all on those but I can say that Andy and his family have always been extremely helpful during our time there.
