The casitas are modest and on the beach, did not stay in the regular rooms. We have stayed there 3 times and always request a casita. The beach and palapas are great. The Resturant is very good and located on the water. The bar and pool area are very good also and are expectations are generally met. We will stay...

They charge you like a HILTON but it’s 10 times worse than Motel 6 We stayed at the Suite with Kitchen and it was very uncomfortable The Stove was so old that hardly work, only 2 out of 4 burners worked. No kitchen utensils to cook a decent meal, that’s the minimum you expect. Beach is good, but bring your...

We stayed in this hotel about two years ago. At that time we felt that the room was adequate; but, the service in both the bar and the restaurant made up for the quality of the room. So, when we visited on July 19th, we had some anticipation of what to expect. The room was, again, adequate. However, the bar...

El Cortez is located right next to the beach, and one can wander from one's room to the beach crossing the hotel property. The sun rise is superb! Reminded me of Hawaii. The Sea of Cortez has its own peaceful charm also. The room was quite spacious and clean, but relatively sparsely furnished. Our room was located on the second...

It was my spring break from school. (I am a teacher) My husband and I drove to San Felipe. We had not been to San Felipe for about 10 years and the last time we went there, the road was so bad that we had to have our motorhome worked on for loose nuts and bolts. Well we heard that...

The first time I stayed here was in 1989 and have stayed there a handful of times recently. The location on the sand is the best thing about the El Cortez! Customer service and cleanliness of the rooms is not the greatest but sunrise on the beach dissolves all stress!

The hotel is on the beach and the room was pretty big but other then that, it's not worth the price ! I would at least think they include a breakfast... no. - First they lost our reservation (we wrote and didn't get confirmation so we called and reserved... no trace of anything), then the receptionist was not welcoming at...

Don't expect a luxury hotel room here. In fact, you might be skeptical about the bed and bathroom when you get here, but there is working air conditioning, and the beach is literally outside the door! The restaurant is mediocre, but there is wireless internet available in the restaurant.

We were two guys on a motorbike travel around the world and spent one night in el cortez in san felipe. We went for dinner at around 6 pm. When we came back one hour later the window was broken (see images) and pretty much all our electronic equipment was stolen including two notebooks. There were night guards and other...

For a small mexican town, simple clean rooms on the water, with a restaurant that sits 50 ft from the waters edge. And Two can have Breakfast for $12 US. Yes, Pancakes, eggs, bacon, coffee for $6 ea. So take any US hotel on the beach and save $20 on breakfast alone. As for San Felipe, great town, great people,...
