    The rooms were very comfortable, the grounds were beautiful within walking distance to historical Pakimo. Meyta, the owner is extremely helpful in explaining about Mata Ortiz and what to look for when shopping for pots. She is charming and knowledgeable. The breakfasts are great especially the fresh fruit. Just...take your shower early:)

    As you will note from other reviews, Hotel Las Guacamayas lacks the swimming pool and television you can readily find at other hotels in the area. But instead it offers a combination of atmosphere, location, and hospitality that are hard to match anywhere. The facility was constructed by the current owner and host in a style reminiscent of the pueblo...

    To begin, this is by far the nicest place to stay in Casas Grandes village. The rooms are basic, nicely appointed and clean. Breakfast was always very good.     This place is so primitive you might wish you'd simply pitched a tent instead of having paid $70 US per night. The two tiny windows in our room were cemented shut; the non-adjustable shower aimed trickles of water at the bathroom floor instead of the person trying to bathe while the naked bathroom bulb supplied feeble lighting; and because there...

    My room was clean and of course very quiet. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well in restful and uplifting surroundings. Mayte provided a large jug of fresh spring water in the room, and a scrumptious breakfast the following morning. I had a truly memorable visit! --Christine

    Rooms cost $50/night. (The credit card machine was not working when I was there.) Breakfast included. Lovely owner, bilingual, an intellectual, who lives onsite and is full of good advice.     Las Guacamayas was the perfect find for our group wanting to visit the ruins of Paquime and shop in Mata Ortiz for pottery.     What a wonderful two nights for the eight of us. We were greeted by Mayté, the owner/manager/hostess with such warmth that we felt at home immediately. She is an amazing person who has planned and built this interesting, funky, and charming place with rammed earth construction, solar, and use of many local materials.     Really beautiful buildings with a lovely courtyard, great hostess and in short walking distance to the ruins. Place is great and rooms are all well decorated. The breakfast was good and the coffee even better.

    Thia is not the hotel for the traveler that expects a bell hop and room service. I is the hotel (hostel) for the travelers that enjoy life, that want a taste of real Mexico and are searching for real warm friendly hosts.
