Park Royal Beach Resort Huatulco has earned praise for its authentically Mexican atmosphere and stunning views, particularly noted by guests who appreciate the room sizes and the hotel's cleanliness. However, some travelers suggest the decor could use an update and have experienced inconveniences due to the rooms' location away from the beach, which often results in long waits for transportation. Service is generally well-regarded, though English-speaking guests and slow shuttles have been points of contention. Despite its prime location and clean facilities, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many due to limited dining options and perceived shortcomings in room quality and amenities.

IT IS a nice hotel, it is NOT in front of the beach, however, its beach club is super close with the carts that the hotel has. To go up to the 7th floor for breakfast and go up to the rooms, the hotel has a cart which goes up and down constantly. The truth is that for older people I do not recommend the hotel because it is tiring to go down and up. Regarding my experience, the second day of my stay they did not clean the room, it was 6:00 p.m. and I had to call the reception for a maid to come and only do it reluctantly and not leaving me towels, I had to call again so that They will change my towels. Service from very attentive waiters and also from the drivers who transported us, the beach is very deceptive so I would not recommend swimming in it. In food service, the menu is very rich and varied.
Also, if you want to reserve a specialty restaurant, do it every day starting at 10:00 am because if not you won't be able to enter.

First of all I congratulate and thank you for the customer service given to us by the Captain of the Beach Restaurant
to Juan Bustamante and the Captain of the Italian Restaurant Rodolfo, who made us feel very Agusto and taken care of, it is worth mentioning the menu has good options and variety of foods and drinks.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and with a beautiful ocean view, only one detail never worked the bean.

The pool has a beautiful ocean view and they constantly clean it so that one is very Agusto.

There is shuttle service to the rooms is super great especially if you touch on level 10, the guys are very friendly.

The Photography service is amazing I was fascinated with the photo section.

If he'd come back.

The broken beds and the old, broken mattresses are terrible for sleeping.
The antibacterial gel dispensers are always empty, the soap and shampoo dispensers have very little or almost nothing.
We stayed 7 days and only one day did they leave us coffee in the room
I have to repeat, literal broken and bent mattresses already very very bad
And the waiters who are terrible at providing service and attention never smile or help or make you want to give them tips because they don't earn it!!!

I do not recommend it.
It is a nice hotel but it is on a hill and you have to wait for one of the two carts they have to serve all guests, if there are no carts you will have to go up or down on foot. There is no way to smoke a cigarette other than outside the facilities when you have a huge balcony so as not to disturb anyone. The food is the same, there is no variety and there are only two restaurants and not to mention making a reservation for the à la carte restaurant, since they do not answer you by phone and you will have to wait in line at reception to make a reservation.
It is very non-functional. Debut and farewell.

We are an older middle aged couple who greatly enjoy our beach vacations. What we like or dislike may not apply to all travelers, but I will tell you how it was for us.

There are many things to love about the Park Royal Beach Huatulco. The first and foremost is the staff. The staff are very nice, professional, and care enough to go the extra mile to help their guests. This holds for reception, drivers, waiters and bar tenders, everyone.

Our room was very large and well appointed. We liked the mini fridge (only water is supplied, but this was not a problem for us), the coffee maker, the sitting room and the huge balcony from which we watched the sunset every evening. It was a spectacular view of mountains and ocean. Our housekeeper Nelvi did an excellent job every day.

The beach was fantastic, with great conditions. We were lucky that the weather cooperated so nicely. The water was clear blue green, with golden sand suspended, and a soft sand bottom, no rocks. Ocean swimming is important to us, and we were delighted with the beach.

The food was good in the main buffet. Vegetables, especially potatoes, pasta dishes and fish were reliably good, as were most of the soups. Fruits and salsas were fresh and delicious. Sadly, I must agree with many reviewers that hot food was maintained warm rather than hot. But that was our only complaint.

Something to note was that we found most of the other guests, many from Mexico City, to be very friendly and sociable. We enjoyed meeting people and chatting in English or Spanish.

With so much to love, it pains me to say anything negative, but there were two points that must be addressed. First, while we have no problem with stairs, there are many places where stairs lack handrails, notably at the beach. The architecture of the hotel is impressive, but this is a safety issue.

Second, the volume of music in the buffet during the show, and in the lobby bar afterwards, is deafening. We like music, and might have enjoyed watching the show, but the sound levels are very piercing and uncomfortable.

To sum up, this is a stunningly beautiful hotel, with an outstanding staff and a fantastic beach, and we enjoyed our vacation. We would definitely return.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are a delight to clean and view to really rest. Get ready if you have dyed hair because they charge if you soil the towels. Don’t save much expectation for dinners at special restaurants because making the reservation is a torment and you lose almost an hour in the morning. The food is good to dry but they take time to fill the dishes to be served, so patience in many waiting areas
For what it is worth, taxis located outside the hotel charge 80 pesos as a fixed fare to go downtown which is very beautiful and keeps all the tradition of a Mexican town.

My husband and I stayed at the Park Royal from January 6th to 27th and we had a fabulous time.
We were in room 1043 and the view was breathtaking. Loved our room!
I must say that the staff worked very hard and so friendly. This property just sparkled with how clean it was.
The bed ad pillows were comfortable, the bedding was very nice and it looks like they just brought in new towels and beach towels.
We didn't use the beach club as other guests staying said it was crowded and loud so we stayed at the 7th floor pool to enjoy our days in the sun.
If you have mobility issues this may not be the property for you to stay as there are a lot of stairs. They do have shuttles but you still face stairs to get to rooms, restaurants or the pool.
Buffet down at the beach club was more a miss than a hit, but buffet, what do you expect.
The best for the last. The 7th floor restaurant breakfast was amazing.
This doesn't mean the food but the staff. These people go above and beyond to make your morning a beautiful start to your day.
The smiles, conversation a d laughs just made our day.
To the management, please do not lose these people, they are the best!
Leon should be running all of the food services as he works hard, the people he works with are always happy and smiling and he is excellent with your guests!
Special thanks to
Juanita, Lety,Leon,Nayeli,Wilbert and Gaby! You all made our stay extra special!

So this is our first time traveling to Huatulco and ended up at the Park Royal also first time doing an all inclusive so we didn't know what to expect. Not sure if it was just our luck going to this place or if everyone has had the same experience as we had and just now i read some of the reviews. I know I should've done it before we went but either way here is my review of the place.

We showed up early so we didn't expect our rooms to be ready they managed to get us set up pretty quick the staff at the reception was very efficient. They gave us the low down on how things work and set us on our way. We had 3 rooms for 3 couples all just above the upper pool. Rooms are big but the beds are small and unless you get the executive suites you end up getting to Full size beds but just push them together and it becomes a California King! Rooms are very well maintained with cold AC that worked great since it was pretty warm. It has 3 bars 3 Pools and does have access to the beach. Yes you have to get a ride since it is a walk up and down the paths and to the beach but the carts are frequent and wait times are minimal. Both Restaurants are well staffed and the service is amazing for those that complain about the communication issue understand you are the foreigner its your duty to be able to communicate to the staff but regardless every place had an English speaking member if not all members of the staff or at least from what i can see could understand what they were requested. The food was great all of it from the drinks to the entries the snacks everything. The beer choices are slim and its keg beer but its understandable the bar tenders were very attentive the waiters , waitresses and bussers all worked together as a team. The Captain at each restaurant was on top of it. We have traveled to many places and i have to say this place was on the top of my list not necessarily the hotel itself but the staff is what stood out what made that place special yes its not a 4 star resort but it has a 5 Star staff and that makes all the difference. I seen lots of smiles and a few not happy customers not because of the staff because some people cant be pleased there is always a Karen in each group and those are the ones that complain. I didn't see anyone upset everyone was cheerful. They have plenty of activities reminded me of summer camp this is just for adults :) Again the staff is who made the trip worth it for me. So if you decide to visit Huatulco give this place a try lot cheaper in cost and worth every cent. Don't forget to tip! Remember there is more then Bell Hops, Waiters and Waitresses there are Porters The housekeepers and the Towel attendants the drivers that pick you up and take you to the beach. Everyone one working there makes that place what it is and to me it made it a place i will definitely go back to.

Terrible attention from Miss Linda at the reception. Bad face and rude, not willing to attend. I can't believe that they have someone like that at the entrance who is the image of the hotel and then they still offer you timeshares, do you think that makes me want to return to this hotel or some future relationship with the chain? Nothing to do with dreams, that from the entrance they welcome you with a fresh towel and champagne, all the staff very friendly and smiling.
I highlight the attention of Esteban from the beach club bar and Martín from the reception bar, very helpful and with an excellent attitude.
There is no room service, we can no longer eat anything after 10 when the restaurant closes, there is nothing in the minibar, very limited eating options.

All the staff were excellent! All were welcoming, friendly, went out of their way to be helpful. Especially kudos to Leticia and Maria, and to Isai and Gadiel for their excellent and professional service. The room was large & comfortable, with a very comfortable bed. The view was spectacular. We were pleased to discover that the buffet had a variety of foods every day. The Italian a la carte had good food but we were disappointed in the Mexican a la carte. We wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone with mobility issues because of the steep hills and stairs to get anywhere. The pool on the 7th floor was very enjoyable and always benches available. The staff worked very hard to keep the facilities, bathrooms, guest rooms and the pools cleaned all the time, and the gardens are very well maintained. The drivers for the shuttles around the resort were always very accommodating and helpful. Disappointed by the beach, which was quite steep and difficult for walking on. We enjoyed the birds, iguanas and other wildlife around the resort. The evening shows were enjoyable, especially the Mexican cultural content, but sometimes got far too loud as the evening wore on, so we'd have to leave before the show was over.

Yes that is the pool for the park royal on the west side of the barcelo. There is a paved road that goes right to the pool and beach area ( you can,t see the road is hid under the trees if you are looking on google maps) there is shuttles will run you there and back to the hotel if you are not up to the walk The main buffet area and entertainment stage is also down in that pool/beach area under the grass roofs you see... hope that helps.

Sorry..I don't know. We were on the fourth floor and could see the ocean at a distance from our balcony.. 7th would be a good floor though, as they have an a la carte breakfast restaurant (order what you want rather than buffet style) and a lovely pool with a wonderful view. One small draw back..the shuttle only goes Up..so you catch it going up the hill..then it goes down another way...but does continue taking you to the main restaurant down at the beach.. On 4th we could easily walk down to the entrance.
