Detailed Reviews
We have enjoyed the Hotel Castillo Huatulco for about 12 years. Itās a very clean, friendly family hotel. The front Lobby staff and all staff at this hotel are absolutely outstanding. Within the last couple of years an additional section of the building has been added with many more modern rooms. All rooms either overlook the pool, the gardens or the street.
The Santa Cruz location of this hotel is ideal ā itās a short walk to the Santa Cruz beach and the Market and a shuttle bus or a 12-minute walk to the large Chahue Beach Club. Adjacent to the hotel we enjoyed daily walks over the mountain pathway into the delightful little town of La Crucecita. Taxis are also plentiful at a very low cost or the local bus runs right past the hotel.
Meals at the Castillo have a good selection. The location for lunch - under a huge Palapa at the Chahue Beach Club - is second to none. Other Santa Cruz restaurants and small coffee shops are all located close to the hotel.

We stayed at the Castillo 2yrs ago for 2 wks and really enjoyed it. This time we stayed 4 wks, month of February. Weather was perfect, sunny and hot, sun & mid 30's everyday. Hotel's new addition is now complete, 45 new rooms, around 160 total now.
*Staff: Were great as always, so polite, helpful & professional. This includes 'All' Frontdesk, Bellboys/Security, Beach Shuttle drivers, Maid's & Food servers.
*Hotel: A little dated but some Reno's have been done, more to come.
*Rooms: A little dated but comfortable with AC & WiFi, No Fridges. TV has mainly Spanish speaking stations, 2-3 English ones.
* Beach Club: As others state, it is the main attraction. It is beautiful there. 5 min Shuttle ride or 20 min walk.Always loungers & umbrellas or palapas's.Beach is beautiful, walkable, water is clean, emerald color, clear close to shore.Never really crazy busy there.Restaurant is great to get away from the heat and have a cold drink and very good buffet lunch, bbq some days. Servers there generall work very hard. There is a family section away from beach for those who wish the pool option. The ocean can be rough to swim in most of the time. Overall, Beach Club is our favourite place to be during the day.
Once again to All the Staff of Hotel Castillo, Gracias, a special thanks to 'Luis', (one of the Managers ) who put on 3 Special dinner nights on at Beach Club and took care of any/all requests we had.
Hasta luego

At first we were seriously disappointed. The hotel pool was down for retiling and the beach club was so crowded, we were unable to find a chair to sit at. We tried to move to another hotel but the price point was so high at the others we decided to make the best of it. This is a case of you get what you pay for. However if you are looking a very reasonable stay in Huatulco and want the local flavour then this might work out well. It is in a great location for going out to local restaurants and has some shopping close by. The breakfast at the hotel is OK and the lunch buffet at the beach club is exceptional. The dinner buffet at the hotel is sketchy at best and we ate out almost every night. The did have a really nice traditional dinner spread one night that I thought was great but my husband wasn't impressed.
Don't forget to bring water shoes as the beach club sand and concrete surfaces are very rough. The pool at the hotel is nice but again the concrete is really rough. The beach is nice but it has a very steep incline once you are in and there is a undertow that could be problematic for weak or non-swimmers.
On the plus side the price point is good. The rooms although dated and shabby were extremely clean with no smells. The bed was OK. We found the entertainment to be a little lame or non-existent at times but if you got into it and joined the local people we had a few nights of great fun. Overall for the dollar value and the great service I would go their again but my husband's opinion was never again.

We came to Huatulco to participate in a Triathlon and chose the hotel for itās location. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms of the new area are ok, the A/C is quite good.
My reason to give it a poor review is because the walls are paper thin, you can hear people talking in the hall and I could hear the tv on in the next room, at 2am! I called the front desk and could hear the phone in the next room ring and the person there would not pick up, I also heard when the went to knock on their door. I called several times and the staff tried , I guess, the best they could. So my poor review is because I think this should not happen, the staff tried what they could and the construction is shabby.

Place where nefarious treatment,
Take the staff of the company, as a gift and flat out I do not recommend any events, and beware of the bar staff and waiters, they are dirty, they are not careful with the oil and cleaning to prepare the drinks, and Mr. Nestor is a scavenger, sells you his services and charges you upfront and does not comply!
Sells you, from tour, food, rides, prepay and does not meet

We stayed at the Hotel Castillo when our AirB&B had a power outage. Otherwise we never would have known about this great hotel in the Santa Cruz area of Huatulco. The staff is efficient and will look after everything. We had laundry done and it was prompt and not that costly. The pool area has comfortable sun beds and the service at the pool area is very good. Our room on the second floor had a large patio with furniture and was sunny all afternoon.

When they advertise it says, hotel with parking, when I arrived it was full its parking and I had to leave my car on the street, I hired the all-inclusive with a price through the Liverpool platform (waters with this) and they wanted to modify the rate arriving at the hotel.
It has no good service, the staff is not courteous.
I definitely don't recommend it.

Very lack of staff, it has never happened to me that a buffet runs out of food on time. Or at the snacks at 2 pm they would say there are no more hot dogs.
The attention surpasses them because of the people, it is true it was cheap but not so much for what you have. The facilities are decent and they are friendly but it is not worth it

I am giving this little resort 5 star for our experience keeping in mind that it is a 3 star property. We have been travelling to all inclusive resorts since they came into being and have finally found what we are looking for. We realized fancy doesnāt mean anything to us at this point in our lives. We like to travel a few times a year and now the searching is over..
Our room was on the 2nd floor in the new wing but from what we saw, the older part is just as nice. No odour, firm comfy beds, modern well equipped bathroom and small balcony. Very clean and compact but serves your needs.
We didnāt have to resort to eating out for the week we were there and found the food quite acceptable. Not gourmet by any means but very well done up and always fresh.
We loved the lobby bar and visited it every evening. Very upbeat and lots going on. The resort is not sleepy by any means. Margaritas are stellar!!!
The staff are phenomenal and will do anything to please you.
We loved the beach club with its wide sandy beach. My only negative complaint here are the plastic loungers. They are brutal to try and relax on. A few of the return guests have clued in and brought a self blow up lounge pad which we will be ordering before our return trip in the spring. They fit quite nicely in your carry on and weigh less than two pounds. I might mention also that there is a shortage of palapas so you need to get there early to get your spot. We didnāt go to the beach club pool but it looked very busy. We always walked before the first shuttle at 9:30 but this is not a must. Lovely walk at an average pace takes
takes about 15 minutes.
Thank you Hotel Castillo for making this our new home away from home. See you soon.

This is my second time staying at this wonderful hotel and I can say that it is a very nice place with good service from the waiters who are always friendly and willing to help you with everything. The buffet is small but the food is delicious. I recommend ordering. The pot coffee is a true delight and tastes of cinnamon, the views are very beautiful and the club's beach has certification so it will always be impeccable, there is a hammock area where you can rest well and if you are staying at the hotel the Transportation leaves every 25 or 30 minutes. Luisito is always a great host
