We have visited this resort four times and were surprised to read so many negative reviews. Our experience this trip Feb. 5-16, 2023 was wonderful and we will absolutely be coming back. The things we liked: the grounds and buildings are beautiful and clean and well kept; the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly all of the time; we could always find a chair at one of the pools and the pool system is very nice with several adult-only sections. There is a nice variety of restaurants with very different menus and at least one of these restaurants are open every night. The Agave Mexican restaurant was by far our favourite in a building with no walls built right over the ocean, both the menu and the atmosphere are fantastic. We were able to make a weeks worth of reservations at a time so did not need to line up every day to make a reservation. We ate at the buffet restaurant every day for breakfast and lunch and twice for dinner and there was always a good variety of different foods that were hot and fresh. Our room was large, with a sunken living area and a bathroom bigger than our sleeping area, and a wonderful view from our balcony. The mattresses were new and the bedding was clean and high quality. Everything was always very clean. Just a note, we always upgrade to The Club and have never been disappointed. The WIFI in our room and in the lobby was excellent and I was able to have several hour-long Zoom meetings with no problem. My husband used the gym and it had lots of good, working machines and equipment. And going to the beautiful lobby bar for a cocktail before dinner and listening to the live piano music is a must. The things that could be improved: WIFI at the pools and restaurants would be nice. The new QR code system for hotel information and for menus at the restaurants was hard to navigate, but all the restaurants had hard copy menus. Using the laundry service was so difficult in the end we did not use it. The resort is now older and some of the furnishings and fixtures are showing their age, The food in our Club Room was disappointing compared to previous years. The beach area is disappointing, very small and closed in but this was no problem for us as we took a cab to the Oasis Beach Club located on the most beautiful beach in the area, and spent the afternoon having drinks and lunch on the beach. The Manzanillo area is safe and friendly with a large Expat community so fun to explore. Overall a great vacation and We will be Back.

The stay seemed to be bad from the beginning, as paying a Premium Level rate, waiting more than 15 minutes at the first attention, has nothing Premium. In fact, the entire JAMAS stay was staffed by Premium Level as a reception. I always had to line up or wait at the general reception to be treated on the occasions I had to go. The only Premium received was the drinks and the room model, as the amenities never followed the suggested instructions.

Bitter vacation, bad service, there is never anyone at the reception at premium level, the Balinese beds, despite having them reserved, you always find people in your bed and they only tell you, tell them that you have reserved it and it was not an occasion, it was 2 days. The 2 rooms did not get water for toilets the first day or for the toilet and well to finish the plus of crocodiles a few meters away watching them from our balcony and no one can explain why. The ladies who clean your room were surprised and told us to report it and so we did but no one paid attention to us. I demand an explanation and a solution because I paid for 2 rooms at premium level to have an excellent time with my family and the truth is we returned with a terrible experience. Until check out we had to do it not at premium level because no one ever bothered us. We did it at the normal reception. One day we went to eat at the general restaurant and just because we entered half an hour before closing, the waiters treated us poorly, they didn't even approach us by mistake since they were setting up tables and we only listened to their hints and I think it's not worth it for them to do that because In the end we left within the established schedule and went straight to the beach bar to order soft drinks to wash down the food we had consumed.

This rating could have been 5 stars, except the staff at the front desk and premium level were so rude and not accommodating to us as Americans. I felt when I asked a simple question, they wouldn’t answer the question and got defensive. Everything seemed like a negotiation with them. First they attempted to classify us as “no show” because or an overnight flight delay, even though we had called the prior day and made it clear we would be late, we were perfectly fine with paying for that night and would be there the next morning. It really felt like they didn’t care for Americans. Now the good… everything was in great repair and condition, someone was always cleaning, repairing, prepping the facilities. The food was excellent! Probably the best buffet I’ve experienced in Mexico. All the wait staff was great to interact with. We did the private romantic beach dinner that we highly recommended! We were very impressed with the masseuse’s talents at the Uspa and their receptionist. The pools seemed to have adequate seating with different “areas” for families and adults only. The “adults only” rules weren’t enforced, but, we didn’t let it ruin our time in the sun. Views are marvelous on the property. I probably wouldn’t go back as an American only strictly due to the front desk staff and the lack of attention of hotel staffing the premium level desk.

The truth is that I am not going to recommend this hotel due to several details. The hotel itself already feels old and compared to other hotels in the chain it feels backwards The service in the pool area is terrible, only one person to serve an entire area of at least 100 people, the poor waiter comes and goes and it's not his fault. It does not have a pool bar, you have to leave the pool to go get a drink, in terms of children it has nothing special, just a pool without any games. The rooms comply but some smell musty The bathrooms are large however they look old Rooms are still opened with cards and deactivated and you have to go to the lobby which is a pain There is only one restaurant with good weather to eat in and it is always full. Lack of more variety of food The ala carte restaurants limit you for every 2 nights you stay, you can go to 1 and when you go to reserve there is no more space so it's terrible The view is beautiful The beach is still very beautiful since it is a cove and the waves do not reach

I really like going to that hotel, but this time I noticed that their policies have changed and restaurants that were open almost all week are no longer open and there is no longer service to the pools or beach until Thursday or Friday. Additionally, I consider that, inside the rooms, they should prepare the pair of steps that go to the living room, with a ramp because there are many older adults with wheelchairs who stay at the hotel. On the other hand, the staff at Bugambilias restaurant were very friendly, both the Hostess and the waiters, the shows were very professional. As a last observation, I had to request the welcome courtesy several times during my stay because they did not leave it in the room.

The different pool areas and levels looking out to the beach were very nice. The food at all of the restaurants was really good. The drinks were good. Most of the nightly entertainment was good. The staff was happy and helpful. The premium room was nice and big. Due to lower occupancy we were unable to check in to the premium lounge upon arrival but at the end of the week we used it for check out with the higher occupancy. The premium lounge was good with snacks and drinks. Reservations are made with guest service for all guests including premium between 10am and 2pm. We were able to eat at the a la carte`s when we chose to which was 4 out of 7 nights. Not all restaurants are open each night.

It is a hotel that I have visited many times, unfortunately since the pandemic the quality of service and amenities has declined. Starting with the fact that they initially delivered a dirty room and I don't mean small but that the room was really without a toilet, beds unmade, bathroom with towels still wet, as if the previous guests had just left. After this we found that they are overwhelmed by the number of guests having to line up for breakfast or lunch, not to mention the snacks that they stopped offering such as taquiza and pizza. In addition to this, they decided that it was no longer a good idea to open specialty restaurants simultaneously, so they did not have availability for a reservation until after your stay. Although they helped us get a table for the special occasion we were celebrating, I don't think it should be the rule to have to go and almost beg the concierge to reconsider opening one more table and at the last available time. It makes me sad, as one of my favorite vacation hotels has lost so much of what characterized it and why I fell in love with it a few years ago.
I have to highlight that we visited them in the low season so it even more shocks me that we have encountered these situations and although in general it was a comfortable stay with delicious food and very friendly service, it makes me reconsider my options for future stays, let's hope that Go ahead and make the necessary adjustments so that new visitors will marvel as I did back in the day. Last but not least, the years are already taking their toll on the furniture, it feels a little dated, wobbly chairs, very scratched glasses, closets and drawers that don't close properly, perhaps considering a serious remodeling of the rooms is a good idea.
