Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The El Cid Granada Hotel garners appreciation for its array of amenities, including well-kept pools and diverse dining options, but some guests suggest that it could benefit from modernization and more free offerings. While the friendly and attentive staff often receive commendation, contributing to repeat visits, opinions on the rooms are mixed; they are noted for their cleanliness and spaciousness but criticized for being outdated with occasional noise. The hotel's atmosphere provides a mix of engaging activities and relaxation, though evening entertainment could see enhancements.
Cleanliness throughout the hotel is regularly praised, yet some areas are singled out for needing updates. Lastly, the value proposition is marred by unexpected fees, which have left some guests feeling the experience did not meet their value expectations.

Detailed Reviews
What an amazing place to stay! I booked this resort the day before I left so although I did not get room 1028 again at checkout, the manager managed to get it for me the next day.
The best part of this hotel is the people who work here(missed Leo so much) and the guests who stay here.
We met many new friends who I am sure we will meet up with in the near future or hopefully travel with.
A big thankyou to Sunwing on getting us home safely.
The only negative was our visit to the Italian restaurant. Our waiter admitted he forgot we were there so we had a long wait. Also he said the menu had just changed so we were disappointed in what we ordered. Thank goodness for the cheesecake. Wish you could go there just for that!
Argentine was amazing. Glad that menu wasn't messed with.
Beach restaurant was really good. Ribs we had one lunch time were amazing! Snack menu at Granada was excellent too, as was breakfast.
Ocean was too rough and cold to swim in so we stuck with the heated pools.
Thank you to El Cid staff for a wonderful week. Hope to see you when this crisis is over. Stay safe!

Love Mazatlán and the large El Cid resort there. All four hotels are great places to stay. Each has its own unique character. It is easy to find one that fits your style. We like the laid back atmosphere at the Granada but go over to the Castilla, Marina and Moro to eat at the excellent restaurants in them and occasionally hang out at one of their pools.
The all-inclusive package is definitely the way to go if you like to do a little drinking on your vacation, and it allows you to easily project the costs of your vacation. Food is great, with lots of choices. Staff is very friendly and gives good, although often laid back, service. Perfect to help relax and unwind with. This is our fourth visit and we are already planning our fifth!

Staff was very thoughtful and efficient in helping us through this trying times. The food was only room service but there was plenty of it and we could order what we wanted. They made all the arrangements to move us from our original hotel and charged a very reasonable rate per day for our stay.

I have been coming to the El Cid course for 8 years now.
The lady working in the clubhouse has always been very nice, friendly and courteous.
The caddie master remembered us and welcomed us warmly are tee times were arranged online without issue.
Our caddies were Aureleo & Miguel as always they were great to be with very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor.
The starter was nice and arranged the 9s the way we wished and the pace of play was very good 4 hours.
It is unfortunate that the course itself was in not that great of condition.
The speed of the greens was very inconsistent on the Marina and the Casita courses and although the speed of the greens was consistent on the El Moro course the speed of those greens was considerably slower than the other 2 courses. All the courses had patchy fairways.
We had planned on playing 4 games at El Cid and two other courses (Estrella Del Mar and Marina Mazatlán) that were not at the El Cid.
After playing those courses we choose not to return to the El Cid for the last 2 games.
Not only were they in excellent condition they were about 300 pesos less per person.
The reason I gave an average rating is because all the staff were excellent but the course was overpriced for the condition it was in (poor value) I am sorry I could not rate it higher for the sake of the excellent staff.

ElCid in Mazatlán was our get-away destination for almost 20 years, twice this winter. It is sad to see the decline in service and hotel's overall management. Most staff members are friendly, welcoming and provide good service and it didn't change.
A few very disappointing little things are accumulating with every visit - food quality, variety, choice of the restaurants, unless you get a "premium" package. What happened to the tasty baguettes, whole grain bread and delicious morning pastries?
Every time you want to fill your water bottle (you only get 2 in the room as you check in) you have to ask a waiter (at Granada) or go all the way across the bridge to the bar....not convenient, especially in the evening.
If you take your towels to the beach from Granada you cannot return them to any other location.
Lunch options are limited to a "fast food" at the Granada or Alhambra crowded buffet with bands blasting on the beach. There is no quiet place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a small healthy snack in the afternoon.
Staying at the "premium" Marina location (and cost associated with that...) still doesn't give you an access to all food facilities.
Pool at the Granada is a nice place to relax without loud entertainment. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Mazatlán is the place we would love to go back to but very likely will look for other options for accommodations.

El Cid Granada is the least expensive El Cid property. The room was spacious and was the best part of our experience. The food for all inclusive was mediocre at best. Hard to get reservations for the sit-down dinners. The front desk staff at El Cid were friendly and helpful. We were there during COVID, and protocol was not followed like they say on their website. The biggest thing they did routinely was require hand sanitizer upon entry and temperature checks. Pools were packed, restaurants way over full. Even the beach area had people packed in. No social distancing. Most likely will not return.

We went for a quick trip to help celebrate a friend’s birthday who spends the winter there so tried to save some money by staying here. The Granada side is very old. Our bathtub had tons of caulking holding it together and a strong sewer smell coming up every morning until I decided to use the Stoppers to plug the drains each evening. It is quiet and the pool is heated. We walked over to the buffet twice for dinner and decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Besides the loud noise which made it as inviting as a school cafeteria, the food was below average. Serving staff were trying hard to be pleasant and that was appreciated. Lunch by the ocean at the Alhambra was much better. Our friend planned the birthday celebration at the El Cid steak house and my husband said it was the best beef he’d had in Mexico so that was a highlight. Overall, if you don’t mind a bit dingy and are trying to save some pesos, the Granada side is the place to be! It’s clean and the staff try really hard to please!

The property is well maintained and the staff was nice and efficient. The food at the restaurant was ok but not great, and one of the servers acted as if he couldn't care less if we were happy or not. Others were very attentive, though, and when it looked like it might rain they offered to take our table indoors. Very thoughtful.

This is our 7th stay at Granada and we've always had a great experience, but this year our room quality was poor, being at the farthest from the lobby area and the room hadn't been updated in a long time. In the past we had rooms that had been updated. The service at the pool to get a drink on an all inclusive was spotty at best. We have liked staying there because it's quiet and the staff are very friendly, and that was all true this year. However when you plugged in anything into an electrical socket in our room the plug would fall out of the wall at the slightest move. Bedding quality was also well used and not as fresh as in past years. We were at the back part of the hotel and many days we didn't get a full restock of towels. Hotel is very clean and staff are always painting and washing the floors and common areas are well kept. A clothes line in each shower would be helpful since everyone has wet clothes due to the pool. The water pressure at the end of the hotel is also not as good as rooms closer to the lobby. Rooms are very spacious, however the TV is almost too small for the room.

We stayed in a huge, very clean, and convenient one bedroom suite in Granada.
We were on the second floor with 3 balconies, very close to the walkway to El CID’s Castilla resort and used the convenient shuttle 4 times to get over to El CID’s Marina private beach. The staff at all the locations were very helpful.
The use of all the resorts and easy Pulmonia (Mazatlán taxis) made it a great trip.
