Villa del Mar exceeded our expectationS. Service was great, room was clean, food always hot. Thank you to Gustavo for special menu selection, Franseco at the beach for bringing me gluten free pizza made to order to my lounge chair piping hot, Alfredo at beach...More
Reserved maroon with a balcony, none were available, rooms offered were not acceptable so I went elsewhere. Informed trip advisor and received no response, was charged for a room I did not use. I am requesting a refund.
There was mold growing in the kitchen and bathroom. Mouse droppings were on the bathroom window seal. There were electrical wire hanging down in a closet. The ceiling fan was dirty and bad paint jobs all over the place. On top of that we had...More
We arrived at Villa Del Palmar, the "sister resort" to Villa Del Mar, to check in. Honestly, we could not see the difference between the two. Together they both look like one large resort. We arrived at the resort about noon from our flight from...More
We traveled in December of 2015.
First, let me begin with the good. The good here outweighs the bad, but the bad is really bad and I'm still pretty po'd about it.
Good: Rooms are nice, very clean. The grounds are immaculate. The gardens are...More

I also got credit when I booked a room with them and when I got to the hotel found out I could only use it at their spa, so I would not know if this is any different, also, any room changes you want to make has to be done before 3 pm, after that they make a big deal out of it and sometimes deny helping you. As for the views, they mostly if nort all point towards the pool area which is very nice, so it wouldn,t make much difference, enjoy your trip!

We stayed at the Villa Del Mar and some friends stayed at the Villa Del Palmar. Both have pros & cons. Villa Del Mar may not be as close to the beach as Palmar, but we're talking about walking another minute or two more. The Mar had views of their pool and Palmar had views of their pool and the beach. The pool area at the Palmar was crowded and full of kids (this pool has the waterslide). And there were "theme nights" (e.g. Mexican Fiesta, Broadway musical night) centered near or around the pool area in the evening. It was much noisier, where the pool at the Mar was more quite and adult-oriented. Both had excellent food & beverage service. We did have to move from our first room (#201) because it was next to a noisy service area. The second room was much quieter. The A/C unit on the balcony didn't make enough noise for us to find disruptive.
As far as food, both properties have access to the same 4 restaurants on the premises and their menus are fairly extensive. You could probably find food to meet your dietary needs at the restaurants and the wait staff is very accommodating. For example, I had egg white omelets for breakfast even though they weren't on the menu.
Depending on what you're look for, the main differences are the balcony views and the noise level at the pools. I think you'd be pleased with either location.
I'm sure yoy could the rooms are big and you can always get cots. We were upgraded to a mini suite so we had lots of room. The other rooms are big, also ask for a king size bed. Good luck it is a nice hotel very... More
