Carol & I built Casa Carole right on the beach several years ago. We asked the architect to design the villa so it would be ideal for rental, with each bedroom having a full bathroom ensuite and a balcony with views of the tropical jungle and the sea. Casa Carole is a traditional Colonial Mexican villa with exposed adobe brick arches, marble floors and beamed ceilings. The decor features hand crafted furniture, Mexican art and sculptures, plus handmade glassware and linens. It is truly a Mexican family house. Our guests rave about our staff of four; chef, houseman/concierge, maid and pool-man for their courtesy, friendliness and competence. Our staff really makes a difference. We have successfully rented Casa Carole for the past many years with a growing clientele who come back for more.

We had a trip of a lifetime to Puerto Vallarta while staying at Casa Carole from November 27th thru December 3rd. Casa Carole was beautiful and magical, an unforgettable experience. The cleanliness, size of the rooms, beach access, and pool were of course amazing but let me tell you about a few things beyond that. Michelle was beyond helpful from the beginning with answering emails to help us establish our dates, meals, transportation, and even a first night surprise of our own personal firework show to start of our vacation. It was so nice to be able to communicate with her directly and it helped us make decisions prior to arrival so that our days were planned out. I would encourage anyone going to Casa Carole to start or end their vacation with a BANG and to have their own firework show. The view we had and the feeling amongst our group that it gave us was an unforgettable moment that we will remember forever. Thank you, Pepe and Michelle, for making this happen!!! Our stay at Casa Carole consisted of the most AMAZING and DEDICATED staff that would do anything to make your experience memorable. So, let’s start with Rosario who put the extra touches in our rooms daily and kept the casa immaculate. From animal shaped folded towels with beautiful flowers as decorations, organizing our shoes and sunglasses, and even cleaning our hairbrushes. A large portion of us in this group first met while working housekeeping at a 5 diamond resort in Wisconsin over 30 years ago. We appreciated your hard work and personal touch Rosario!! Maria was our amazing chef that had the best smile and was willing to go above and beyond. First, we had her famous French toast on the menu almost every morning, superb. The men in our group went fishing and caught enough Mahi-Mahi for Maria to fry up some of the best fish tacos we have ever experienced, and she also made an amazing batch of ceviche. Our final meal consisted of steak and chicken with potatoes and Maria watched videos on how to make a version of Cheesecake Factory’s Madeira sauce, yes just for us and our special last dinner. She absolutely nailed it and has now learned a new recipe that she is going to use for her family Christmas meal. Maria, we thank you for all your hard work and making our trip even better with your talent in the kitchen and your amazing cooking skills. We enjoyed every breakfast, appetizer, dinner and dessert. And of course, we had Pepe, the house manager who was beyond exceptional in everything he did. Pepe greeted us in the beginning with a very big smile and helped us get settled in while cold margaritas and hot appetizers were awaiting us poolside. We returned to Casa Carole after excursions every day and Pepe was always there to greet us with drinks and would listen to us talk about our days adventures. Pepe made a variety of tasty drinks from several different flavored margaritas, daiquiris, mimosas, and pina coladas and was always ready to serve us with an extra big smile. Pepe grew an amazing friendship with my 19 year old son from the beginning and he even got him an extra spicy special hot sauce for meals and even an extra bottle to bring home. Pepe told the best jokes and made us all laugh with his great sense of humor. Pepe even had my daughter believe she was eating chicken tacos while they were really the Mahi-Mahi tacos, she would have never tried them otherwise and of course she loved them. Pepe took the time to learn every one of us in the group and treated us like family and made sure all our needs were beyond met. We thank you Pepe for getting to know us and treating us so well. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication to our group!! Our group consisted of 12 people from the ages of 19-65. Our expectations were beyond exceeded and we look forward to a return visit in 2023. If you are getting ready to spend time at Casa Carole, please be sure to tip the staff well for their hard work and dedication. We all thank you Michelle, Pepe, Maria, and Rosario for giving us an experience of a lifetime ❤️❤️. Stay safe and well and we will see you soon, very soon.

This was our first family trip in 10 years...it was great to celebrate with our 3 boys in their 20s and 2 girlfriends. Casa Carole is in a great location....easy to get to Zona Romantica as well as easy access to farther out excursions such as zip lining and horseback riding. Definitely check out Alma's Rhythm of the Night! Maria is an amazing cook, Pepe was available for all our questions and best of all hooked us up for a snorkeling adventure right at the beach in the backyard and Rosario was a complete blessing. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath.....you can sit by the pool, brace the waves in the backyard or catch a taxi to walk around town. We all felt safe and welcomed. Thank you.

I decided to write a really complete review because there are many things to take into account when looking for a villa and I felt like Casa Carole checked all the boxes! Thanks to Michelle, the owner, for being so super responsive and easy to work with! To start with, I spent weeks looking for the perfect villa in various areas of Vallarta to bring my adult children and their spouses for a week away together. I settled on Casa Carole because after doing plenty of research, it appeared to be the nicest villa in the best location for the most reasonable price. I had not been to Vallarta in years, so I was pretty much flying blind & guessing on the right area to be. I picked Casa Carole for a variety of reasons, but it really appealed to me that all the bedrooms had ocean views, en suite bathrooms and were all on separate levels for privacy. When we arrived, we didn’t know what to expect, but to say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement! I could not have been more happy with the villa, the staff, the food and the location & my family was over the moon about it! The villa is very unique in the way that it’s built into (& down) the cliffside. You enter from above at street level and walk down a lovely spiral staircase into the villa. The living room, kitchen and pool area are on the bottom 2 levels closest to the sea (making it feel very private), so when you’re in the pool, the infinite edge of the water appears to extend into the sea.. The views are SPECTACULAR from every room. It’s the most unique architecture because the bedrooms are situated at intervals down the spiral staircase off several different small landings, so it's great for having a bit of privacy when you need it. *For people with extreme mobility issues it might be challenging to come and go with all the steps, but for people with only minor mobility issues (walking with a cane, etc), you could strategically place them in one of the bedrooms with the easiest access to where they need to be, depending on your goals (like the kitchen/living area, down by the pool or at the very top close to the street if you plan to be gone a lot). You will need to navigate steps one way or the other, but it could be kept to a minimum in that case if you have members of your group with those kinds of challenges. Our experience: BEST FIRST- The STAFF: Pepe, Maria & Rosario were there for us everyday (except for Sunday). We didn’t see Rosario as much but every day our bedrooms were made spotless with clean linens, soap, etc & she never missed a beat. As an added bonus, any dirty clothes that were placed in the bedroom laundry hampers were miraculously clean and folded by the time we went up to our rooms later in the day! Mari is the Casa chef and I feel justified in calling her a true ‘Chef'. She’s fantastic. Every morning, afternoon and evening my entire family could never stop talking about the quality (& the amount) of the food. She shopped every day for the items that we ordered the night before and every meal was a feast fit for a king. These were consistently the best meals any one of us have ever had in Mexico, or anywhere else, for that matter. At first we had planned to go out a few times but we very quickly realized that this was the MUCH better option (while being far more affordable) and we got a sunset view overlooking the beautiful bay each and every night! The Red Snapper was my favorite but every single thing that she made melted in my mouth! Pepe is the house man/concierge/head waiter and jack of all trades. He made us feel SO at home and was SO accommodating in every way. If something was broken or needed attending to, he would take care of it immediately. He served all the meals, played an excellent bartender (none of the margaritas in town came close), helped with activities & local information & was around most of the time to make sure everyone was taken care of & happy. By the time our stay was over, he felt like part of our family! Any special request we had was handled seamlessly. They made sure to fully stock the villa with everything we wanted or mentioned in passing that we liked & there was zero stress involved. **Hint-If you rent this villa, DO NOT stop for food or drinks on the way. Get there first so you can see what I mean! Pepe brought us the most amazing (and lethal) margaritas every day at 4:30PM to the poolside bar, along with an appetizer that Mari made. We made it a priority to get back every day in time for this, as it was definitely a highlight that we looked forward to prior to getting ready for their world class dinners! The other thing about the staff is that they make the whole thing feel so easy. They made us feel ‘at home'. When they are there, they stay in the background if you’re socializing with your group or relaxing, but they are always willing to chat and get to know you if you feel like it & always there when you need them. At night, left quietly after cleaning up dinner & we never felt as if we weren’t free to enjoy the villa fully while they were there or when they were gone. The LOCATION: There are so many cool places to stay in Puerto Vallarta, but in a perfect world, I wanted to find a place that was close to old town & good beaches, yet felt far away and private. I wanted a place where we could walk or drive into the town (we are walkers but our kids aren’t as much) to be around people, activities, shopping, the populated beaches and restaurants, but also be relatively close to hiking, secluded beaches & anything else we wanted to do. We settled on Casa Carole because it was on the south side of Conchas Chinas, which was closer to the great hiking and beaching experiences of Colomitas, Las Animes & Quimixto & the Paulo Maria waterfall hike was just a 10 minute drive away. The villa itself has plenty of room to park a couple of rental cars in the driveway, but we found that it was mainly unnecessary in this town to rent a vehicle unless you have plans to do a great deal of driving. A huge plus is that there just happens to be a taxi stand right next door to the villa & it’s super easy to flag one down within a couple of minutes to hop into town if you don’t want to walk. Taxi rides are not expensive (usually around 80-120 pesos). If you like the notion of feeling like you have privacy with your own mostly private slice of the ocean & beach space & you still want to be close to the romantic zone and all of the popular and more heavily populated beaches, this is the place for you! Every day we got to see several humpback whales (sometimes 4 at a time) right outside in plain view. Amazing! Bring your binoculars and you will be sure to see all sorts of sea life! The VILLA: Authentic, Lovely & Unique Architecture that we fell in love with, Old Mexico Charm. OUTSIDE SPACES around the villa: Views are spectacular from literally EVERY room. You can see Los Arcos, Sierra Madres & the entire Bay. There is a direct walk down to the water (a lovely path with steps down from the infinity-edge (heated) pool, past an outdoor shower, down a landscaped yard and through private security gates) where there are dozens of beautiful volcanic rocks jutting from the water and a small sandy beach. The volcanic rocks are the coolest, because when the tide goes out, it leaves behind lovely pools of water (around 4’ deep) inside the rocky outcroppings that fill up with colorful fish, sea urchins, crabs, etc. We actually snorkeled there in the pools a few times with water shoes on and it was great-actually as good or better than any other snorkeling we did while there. During the high tide, the water comes almost up to the pathway and covers much more of the rocks. The effects of the water crashing down onto the rocks below the villa is spectacular (and the sounds of the surf from the villa & all the rooms within the villa at all times is amazing). Aside from the small sandy beach at the bottom of the steps, there are MANY other larger beaches within a 2-20 minute walk of the villa, depending on what you’re looking for. If you walk either way along the water you will find some large and sandy and some smaller and more rocky, but there are lots of options to choose from. There is a beach bar and restaurant at the hotel next door (although the food at the villa is so great that we never personally tried it). If you like walking, it’s just a 20 minute walk along the more populated beaches to the Romantic Zone and the Melancon (it probably takes as long to get there by taxi or in a car due to the unique layout of the old town and the funky traffic patterns). We felt like we had found the perfect thing in Casa Carole. The POOL AREA was bigger than I thought from the pictures and so was the pool, which has an attached jetted spa. I wouldn’t call it a ‘hot tub’, exactly, but the pool is heated and the spa will heat up to feel really lovely like a bathtub. When we got there it was perfect. Sizewise it was absolutely perfect for our party of 8 (& would be fine for more) and the whole outdoor area was very clean. The owners provide plenty of nice thick beach towels (that are laundered for you daily). When we were there, there were a few great pool floats as well, but I expect they come and go depending. The BEDROOMS: Each room was simple, lovely, clean & unique and each one had it’s own private balcony overlooking the ocean (except for the bottom bedroom that opened up to the pool area (as well as the ocean), which was great as well for the early riser in the group!. The rooms provided everything we needed. The beds were comfortable & (as my children pointed out) the sheets were soft! You can choose to sleep with all the windows thrown open and listen to the waves crashing if you want to (there is mosquito netting, although we never saw 1 single bug in the open bedrooms while we were there in March) or you can close up the windows and turn on the AC (which worked really well in each room). You can sit out on the balcony at night, listen to the waves crash & stargaze or hang out with the rest of the crowd playing games in the open living room or down at the pool. Amazing! Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and some of the bathrooms actually open to the private balconies so you have the option to throw the windows open and shower semi-outside in a completely private situation (OR NOT).. My favorite room was the Yellow bedroom, but they were all fantastic. Although there is a large screen TV in one of the family rooms, the bedrooms don’t have TV’s. That was PERFECT for us. The experience was so beautiful that we felt like TV in the bedrooms would have detracted from the overall experience. A couple of my kids brought their laptops for work (or to stream movies) but I don’t think they used them much, if at all. I believe each bathroom has a jacuzzi tub if you’re into luxuriating in a tub under the stars! The water pressure was awesome for all of us in each room (All little things that can make a difference when traveling). Every person in my group had a great time & are already trying to plan our next trip back to Casa Carole! I can’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta!

It was the best beach house i ever visit for a vacation, the view, great size and the service/food was like being in a 5 star hotel just for ourserlves. The Private Beach was also a unique thing. Pepe, Mary and Rosario were more friendly than anyone the menu we pick for each day was very tasty. All of my group (10 adults total) enjoy and love the stay in Casa Carole, i even recieve messages on instagram for information of the House. We”ll be back ASAP. Michelle the owner was also very helpful very friendly, detailed and quick via email. The manager in Puerto Vallarta, Lupe was also helpful days before our arrival for the welcome menu & drinks. People Don’t think twice enjoy Casa Carole Thanks Michelle for everything you have a tourist hot spot 🙂

We cannot say enough good things about our time at Casa Carole! We loved how thoughtful and friendly Pepe, Maria, and Rocio were! The home was beautiful, the views can't be beat, and we ensured we were home in time for Pepe's margaritas and chips and guacamole for happy hour every day! The infinity pool kept our daughter happy for hours and the steps down to the beach made it the perfect combination of private, but beach accessible. We all slept with open balcony doors, listening to waves crashing every night! The rooms are each unique and beautiful and we all had a hard time saying goodbye! We will stay here any chance we get!

What an amazing holiday! This was our third trip to Casa Carole and our first with new owner Michelle Meheen. We split the holiday – one week with family and one with week with friends. Even having been there before, the experience was a Wow! And it was especially fun seeing the Casa through the eyes of the first timers. The location, the casa itself, and of course the Casa Carole Crew simply blew them away. None of them had ever experienced a vacation like this before, and we had a combination of seasoned travelers and those who haven’t ventured very far, and without exception the feedback was "best vacation ever". They were impressed that we were able to corral everyone for a vacation, but even more impressed with the experience itself. The team of Maria, Pepe and Rosario is simply amazing. Its not just what they do, but how they do it...I can't imagine a better team of ambassadors or a better experience. Maria is lovely - the food preparation was on point in every sense and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts, appies, dinners and desserts! (oh and the leftovers tucked away in the fridge for snacking...) She is an absolute joy, and seeing her each morning was a great start to each day. I can't say enough. Pepe is wonderful; attentive, accommodating, and well, fun to be around. He got to know us as a group and individually, and we all felt supported and entertained throughout our visit, with him often going above and beyond to make us comfortable. Rosario is a great addition, and it was clear she was helping out wherever she could. We really appreciated her attention to detail, and her smile that rivaled Maria's! The Casa was much as we expected and remembered...this is a real gem. We know we have options... marble countered condos in massive new developments or all inclusive resorts, but I think what we appreciate most about Casa Carole apart from our hosts, is the sense that we are somewhere different, not just some random vacation resort in the sun, and that we couldn't experience this anywhere else. It has a homey, rustic charm, an amazing location on the beach and is just out of town, and the layout makes it a perfect choice for a group vacation. Old town is definitely walkable – perhaps 20 minutes at an easy pace (our youngest was the birthday boy at 50) and most of us did it daily for a bit of exercise and adventure. You can venture in to town by way of beach with a couple of detours onto seaside walkways, or by road…just take care as the roadway can get rather busy. Taxis and buses are also available right outside the Casa – the best option for night time trips into town. Everyone loved their rooms. Unfortunately the Casa would be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues as the circular staircase is how you move throughout the multilevel complex, but for those who have the ability, the stairs are a welcome bit of exercise following lazy days by the pool or Maria’s scrumptious meals! Did I mention it was an amazing holiday? A great way to celebrate a 50th birthday, or any excuse for that matter. The memories will last a lifetime, and it brought a family who live at a distance from each other together in a way that simply couldn't have happened otherwise. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Michelle and we really appreciate her support in making it so easy for us to coordinate this time together. Casa Carole is an amazing place to call home, even for a short time, and it must be wonderful owning such a unique property, and knowing how much joy you have made possible for others. Our deepest appreciation to Maria, Pepe and Rosario for being such gracious hosts and making us feel so at home...we miss them. If you are looking for something special – an “all-inclusive” of your own design – this is the place.

There are many good reasons why this property has so many five star reviews: The host (Michelle) is a true pleasure to deal with. She is efficient, responsive, and super-friendly during the booking process. The staff at Casa Carole is very professional and just as friendly as Michelle. The meals are first rate and the house itself is phenomenally gorgeous and comfortable. Each bedroom is idyllic and the lower pool area with bar is especially so. And to top (or bottom) if off - there is a lovely little sandy beach at the lower level! I cannot recommend this place enough. My 9 friends and I just finished a perfect week there and we all hope to return.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Casa Carole. When our week came to an end, we were genuinely sad to leave. The time went so quickly! We had lots of friends and family in town for the wedding. In total, 9 of us stayed at the villa, and the rest were spread out in Old Town/Romantic Zone. In total, we had 26 people at the villa for hour wedding, and it was the perfect size. Intimate, not too small, but not crowded, either. The guests were blown away by the spiral staircase leading down to the main areas, and of course by the view! The staff was amazing, which we totally expected based on previous reviews—except they kind of feel like family after a few days. And the villa was wonderful. Everything we'd hoped it would be and then some. We wouldn't have changed a thing! The wedding was exactly as we'd hoped. Cocktail hour on the pool deck, vows on the beach, and live music and dinner on the pool deck as well. We'd highly recommend Vallarta Vows for wedding planning. We worked with Robin Manigoot and she pulled everything together for us seamlessly, including local musicians who played absolutely beautiful guitar music. Pepe even arranged fireworks for us, which was an over-the-top surprise for our guests (a few of them even jumped when the first couple shot off -- LOL!). We're already talking about how we'd like to bring a group of friends to head back to Casa Carole sometime in the next few years. It was so fun and enjoyable! Every room is amazing (we took the green room with the hammock and double balconies) and has stunning views of Banderas Bay. We even saw dolphins and whales from the villa decks. Such a dream.
