If you like waterfront and excellent beach location, Icon is your spot. The location is great and on the beach, 10min walk to grocery store, 20min walk includes close to 20 restaurants. 20 min walk gets you 2 shopping malls. 15 mins from the airport, 20 min cab ride to downtown. We have spent 30 weeks over the last 3 winters at Icon. The downside, units are getting tired, lots of units are rented. Our price for a 1 bedroom has gone from $115us/night(2022), $135us(2023&2024) and the owner wanted $165us/night for 2025. With prices increasing you are seeing less 2&3 month rentals and more short term under 30 day rentals. The weekend warriors have little regard for the rules of Icon. The renting experience for us feels like a short term Airbnb. The Icon beach loungers are very tired and many are breaking. If you like sharing the beach with loud people talking on their cell phone or talking over each other in French(there is a lot of renters from Quebec, you get arrogance and ignorance, not all, but a lot), Icon is your place. The pool area is very cliquey and busy in Feb. Being in the Hotel zone you get noise, this is your place, weddings, Karaoke, loud music you will have it all. We enjoyed our first 2 years at Icon, when the price goes up a lot, you reevaluate the importance of being on the beach. We met a lot of great people and thank them for the memories!!

When my mom came to visit she wanted a nice condo and a beautiful view. We wanted a central location and a big pool. We landed on the Icon Vallarta and we were not disappointed.
The building is secure and centrally located. There is beach access from the pool. The beach and pool area offer food and drink service. The food is okay but not terrible if you are hungry and don't feel like getting up.
La Isla (shopping center) is only a 5 minute walk. You can find coffee, food, and supermarkets within easy walking distance. The Malecon is a short cab ride or a nice walk if you are up for it!

Rented 3 different units over the course of 2 weeks and the best advice would be is to make every effort to inspect the unit before renting, if possible. 2 of the Units were solid, one with a great view in Tower 2 (1801), however the second unit we rented, which was 7 floors below (1001), had a defective air conditioner that left our bedroom between 76 to 77F (24.4 to 25C) even when turning the thermostat to the minimum. It was so bad that we left the room on the 2nd night and rented another hotel down the street before returning the next day to pick up our belongings before checking out later in the day. When we initially checked in the a/c valve was mistakenly left closed until early evening which had the bedroom at 80F. Unfortunately opening the valve had a minimal effect as did the minor repair performed by a technician who came in and said there was air in the coils. While the owner did return most of the money for the 4 unused nights, there was no consideration given for the awful experience including our having to rent another hotel on the 2nd night while paying him. Outside of that it is a great property with nice people in a convenient location.

This place, while beautiful, is akin to staying in a maximum security prison. The check in process took almost a half hour to hear everything we can and cannot do in our rooms. The grounds are strictly managed - don’t even think about positioning your chair to face the sun. Security is rude and unhelpful. You have to pay for their cash card system to get any food or drink on the property, and cannot get money back if it goes unused on the card, They make it extremely difficult to actually enjoy your vacation. I would never recommend this place and was extremely disappointed in our stay.

Yes the condo and hotel is beautiful but definitely not worth it! We got a bachlorette.co package that installed us in this Condo, since we got here the workers are rude and unhelpful except for Julio by the pool. There are excessive rules you can’t have colored towels by the pool or music. When it was time to leave we had other friends staying in another tower, we wanted to leave our luggage there and there was so little flexibility or help Tania Rico was rude and mocking us. For a family experience it might me better, but not for a bachlorette experience

This was our second New Year Eve Vacation at Puerto Vallarta. In both occasions the weather was great even though we had one rainy day on this trip.
Icon Vallarta is a 10 year old development which include 3 25 floor towers and 5 or 6 villas. Mostly all facilites were in good shape and well maintained. They have a well equiped Gym but rather small considering the size of the development, always full.
There are three pools, the main one with almost 100 ft long, great for lap swimming.
We just had food at the beach , some really great ceviches prepared by a lady specialized in this kind of food.
This time of the year is their highest occupation, which translate in crowded pools, beach front and restaurants with not enough accommodations and poor service.
The water temperature is great for swimming however, some may consider it cold, 24 C or 80+ F
Overall we enjoyed our time and we may come back but maybe not on this time of year.

The condo we rented was beautiful inside and had amazing views. That’s why I give 3 stars but the Icon itself was lacking culture and the vacation feel. There are a ton of rules.
You can’t have a drink in the pool. Not even water. You can’t move the pool chairs. You have to have white towels by the pool. You have to be 18 and make a reservation to go in the hot tub. You can’t walk down the driveway You can’t leave chairs unattended for more than 15 min.
It just took away from the relax and enjoy feeling.
The beach bar had good food. It was open from 1-6 (last order by 5:15). Good prices.
It is true that everything is a short cab ride away but not too much is walkable. If you want to be in a more local/lively/upbeat environment, stay closer to ZR or the Malecon. Icon feels very much like a retirement community. The average age at the pool was 65-80.
I personally won’t be renting at Icon again.

This place is a rip off! We stayed in an air bnb and the maid and reception desk helped scam us out of over 2,000 pesos. also the maid will hang out in your room 4-5 hours a day and just hang out on her phone enjoying the view. It was seriously weird and she wasn’t pleasant to have around. Also the hot tub at our unit was full of bugs the whole time and for some reason the maid couldn’t clean that any day even though she was there for 4 hours! The receptionist desk was horribly rude the whole time we stayed and treated us like we were intruders. it's a pretty resort but there's so many better places to stay in PV that will not give you a hard time like this place will. Also if your dog is staying in your room and the maid is in their when you aren't, they'll put your dogs outside on the deck with no water. Seriously freaky especially when it's 90 out.

We have been renting at the Icon for 4 years. We started with a one bedroom and the last two years we have a two bedroom, den and 3 baths. Everything is clean and staff very helpful and friendly . There are 3 pools and two are shallow but the other is deeper . It is heated and there are waiters that bring drinks and food to you at poolside if you choose. There is also a bar- restaurant at the beach front . There are three Towers at the Icon and we have always been in tower 1. There is a modern kitchen and dining area which is open to the living room area.. Those staying here are friendly and we have made many new friends.

We rented a condo for 10 nights through Airbnb. Loved the Icon and will be back. The condo we rented (in tower 1) was great. It was on the 3rd floor so we always used the stairs. The elevator and stairs opened up to a hallway with doors to different condo units. The complex was very nice! Great pool, beach and bar/dining. The location was great! We like to walk so walked to the malecon (around 1 hr walk) or to the marina (around 30 min walk) every day and would usually go later in the day and then catch a cab back in the evening. A 3 min walk to the grocery store and 7 minute walk to Walmart and 2 different malls.

We only ate breakfast at the restaurant - and it was ok. We often had lunch at the beach bar which is served from the restaurant. The food is average plus.
There are more places to choose from in the Puerto Vallarta area.
