Detailed Reviews
We were at this hotel from January 1-14, 2024. This was our fourth time to the Costa del Sol but we found it not as good this time. Their food seems to cater to the Mexican people; not so much to the Canadian/American taste. Also my husband is Celiac and other years they seemed more willing to please and cater to his needs; this year not so much. Even though our travel agent had specially requested gluten-free food for his needs, and they had contacted her to advise they would file the request for our arrival, it took until the Saturday until we finally got a letter from Guest Services advising the head-waiters in Spanish (we had arrived on the Sunday before!) to please prepare a gluten-free meal for him. Also when we first arrived I spoke to someone at the main desk, also showing them a Spanish printout form in Spanish explaining about his gluten-free needs.
We dined mostly in the Buffet and in the past years the head-waiters there would always acknowledge our arrival into the restaurant and ask what my husband would like them to prepare. This time they seemed to almost ignore us and I'd have to approach them to remind them of his gluten-free need to place his order for the especially-prepared meal. It was most frustrating!

My friends and i stayed in a two bedroom suite at this resort from August 23 to August 30. It was the first, second and third trip for the three of us in Puerto Vallarta. I must say the staff is the reason our stay was enjoyable to a level I was not expecting, the suite was spacious and location of the resort is prime if you want to have a vacation experiencing Puerto Vallarta. The all inclusive package lets you relax and eat good food and unlimited alcohol. Even though it rained every night it was only for an hour or two max. So if you don’t melt in the rain you should be fine. Oh and that reminds me, the drainage system clears up the resort in record time.
You can take a taxi or uber downtown day or night, i felt totally safe my entire trip.
I recommend the city tour
and one of my travel companions recommends the ATV.
The Wi-Fi is good through out the resort except the business center.
But if you want: good food, great service, good location and nice rooms check it out. I would list a whole group of people then i realized my list would contain 15 + names. With some duplicates, so the STAFF is great. Oh you might want to watch Night of the Iguana according to the guide on the city tour that is the movie that opened the world to this gem. The population has expanded from 17,000 in the sixties to 250,000 now. With over 90% of the city income produced by tourism (these are unaudited figures, yeah i am an accountant, it is how i think)
Oh for a frame if reference i have visited Mexico a number of times: Acapulco (1) Cancun (2) Cabo (4) & Puerto Vallarta (2)
Puerto Vallarta is a mix of Cancun & Cabo San Lucas to me, larger than Cabo but more laid back than Cancun.

I will definitely not return again, the facilities leave a lot to be desired, the door without a chain and the locks do not give much confidence in security, the beds are not comfortable, the bathroom with broken furniture, a very neglected hotel.
