My favorite go-to hotel while I PV just like being home. Everyone here from front desk to cleaning staff treat you like family always friendly outgoing and welcoming. Always clean and professional and on point. Little hidden gem. If you don't want to be bothered they leave you alone if you need anything there always willing to go above and beyond to help you there also very honest had my clothes washed and left money in my pocket. By the time I got back later that evening it was on my bed with a note there very honest humble and hard working here love it here there is no other option for me but hotel hortencia.

If you want to spend extra money and stay in a construction site, stay here. I was horrified to find out that the hotel was half torn-down and that my room was in a bad shape and smelled like mold. Your window is in a full view of construction garbage. I'm pretty low maintenance. I wasn't expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel. But for the price I paid per night and glowing reviews I've read, it just didn't make any sense. I've stayed at Hotel Pasada de Roger and Hotel Rio Malecon, both of which were CHEAPER and thousand times BETTER than this horror house. Hotel Eloisa and Hotel Encino looked like better options too. I feel bad for leaving a bad review because the staffs were incredibly nice and sympathetic. Unfortunately, they were incompetent. They didn't know how to handle this kind of situation. I immediately voiced my concern, but the staff didn't know what to do. Later that night, a manager agreed to let me cancel the rest of the stay. To my surprise, he said he didn't know how to reverse a credit card transaction, and he'll be charging me 20% tax on the nights I cancelled. He said he didn't know how to refund the tax so he'll be charging me. It just baffled me, but whatever. I just wanted to get out of this horror house as soon as possible. Look at the pictures and see for yourself.

I have stayed here two years in a row. The staff are wonderful and for a couple of ladies traveling on their own, I feel very safe there. The location is excellent! Walking distance to the beach, with shops, taco stands, liquor store and the Act II theater nearby! The Romantica Zone in PV is fabulous!

Highly recommended if you want to save money. Centrally located. Walking distance from lots of restaurants, bars and beaches. Upon check in, they give you remote controls for the TV and AC. Basic rooms but everything worked well. Good wifi and hot water. Beds are typical Mexican hard. Check in and out was efficient. Staff is friendly. Great value for the money. A good choice for a stay in Puerto Vallarta!

Hortencia hotel is shiny clean, beautifully decorated, spacious with excellent beds and pillows. Great internet connection. There is central courtyard and rooftop sitting areas with grand view of ocean and old town. The staff is gracious and caring. Right across the street you will get the best massage and spa treatments at Massage Marcy (Marcy Hernandez) - about $20 USD an hour. The Oxxo with very good coffee is just steps away and plenty of wonderful food is all around. You will see the beach from the front door and a two minute walk puts your feet in the sand. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, food and drink service invite you to relax while you watch the pelicans dive for fish near the locals throwing out their nets and pulling them in. Or turn left to go the pier, or right to stroll the Malecon - there are cultural shops everywhere. The Hotel Hortencia neighborhood is the best Romantica PVR has to offer - simply magical!

We booked our stay here with our flight through CheapOAir.com for $20 USD a night though the regular price is more like $35 USD. It's a quaint, old Mexico hotel family owned 4 blocks from the beach with a terrific view of the ocean and PVR from the rooftop terrace. Our room with 2 double beds is small (expected for this price) and has everything we need to be comfortable. The beds give you a very good nights sleep! Our fridge and freezer work great, the shower water pressure is good. It's very clean - and I have not seen even one bug of any kind which is more than I can say about US hotels! The staff are all beautiful, friendly and caring and take immense care of their guests. There is really good coffee right across the street at the Oxxo, and fabulous food and drink everywhere you look just steps away. Located in the Romantic zone, you are just steps away to the Malecon, River Cuale, street shops and markets with the freshest, cleanest, most favorable wares. This hotel is used mostly by locals coming to the beach from thier homes in the Guadalajara and other nearby towns. So you are immersed in real Mexican culture and people. Many speak good English but many speak none at all - but everyone is patient and tries to help you. Several times I have accidentally over paid for things and the locals tell me "no no no" and give me my money back. PVR is a Mexican vacation town - not an international resort, so you have a lot to learn when you arrive. But here at Hotel Hortencia Estelle and Joaquin will explain everything you need to know and make sure you can find your way around and get what you need. Or if they don't understand your terrible Spanglish they will find someone who can! Thank you Hotel Hortencia!! We have two more nights here and are so glad we came!
