Good stuff: Super nice staff (really truly awesome, like nicest ever), great location, booked a zipline trip for us at a great price. Bad stuff: The room was very small, kinda smelly, noisy (on main floor very close to reception), and overpriced (admittedly very good value for Puerto Vallarta, where everything is overpriced, but in many other Mexican cities that...

Everyone wants a clean, safe, convenient, well-priced place to stay, and in Puerto Vallarta, the Hotel Hortencia offers all of that. But if you travel a lot, you also search for something else, the quality of hospitality. After all, you are laying your head on somebody else's pillow, no matter how much you paid. That innkeeper either gives you the...

I stayed here with two of my friends, on the recommendation from one of them who had been there before - and I was not disappointed. The owner his son and daughter-in-law were absolutely fabulous and went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. The rooms were affordable, comfortable and had a nice terrace to sit out...

I stayed at the Hotel Hortencia by luck, a girlfriend already staying in PV booked me into it. A wonderful friendly family run hotel, had a room overlooking the front street with sliding glass doors onto a balcony. A 5 minute walk to the ocean and shopping. Too many wonderful restaurants to mention, very close by. Wonderful for couples, singles,...

The Hacienda Hotel for 500 pesos a night is worth the price. This is not a 5 star hotel but we prefer to live in the old-town and you can’t argue with the price. Clean rooms and hot running water. What more do you want? We do not spend a lot of time in our rooms when we are on...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hortencia recently for our second year in a row, purely because of the owners. I've found that budget hotels in PV are always very clean, and the Hortencia is no exception, but Nina (the daughter) and Jorge and Judita (Nina's parents/the owners) are beyond compare. It's a warm welcome upon arriving, and hugs...

Greetings. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Hortencia this past weekend. We were looking something, clean, simple, and centrally located. The Hotel Hortencia was exactly that. For 600 pesos we had a small, clean room with A/C and a TV. We stayed in room 22 on the inside courtyard. For 600 pesos it is a great deal, but...

“I am old, so requested ground floor, they made it happen. Rooms do have A/C if you need it. Has a fridge, great shower, very comfortable bed. Understand some rooms have two beds if needed, don't really know first hand.”

“No elevator. I lugged my heavy suit case up 3 flights of stairs to room #8. Dark stairways at night. Low level of security. You leave your keys at the front desk and anyone can walk in and either grab them or claim they are in your room. ALTHOUGH, the staff quickly learns who belongs to what rooms, so I never had any hesitation.”
