I enjoyed my stay in November so much I went back for 6 nights mid March. And... I’m booked to return in a month for another 5 nights! The property is the perfect size; not some huge sprawling complex. The hotel has been completely renovated I believe 2 years ago. Even though I’m traveling solo. I went for the all inclusive rate (I believe only a select number are offered) at $330 a night for a King ocean view which is actually good for 2. The service and food is really stellar. Way above expectations. The best room service too. Good is hot fresh and very good. The all inclusive allows you to order from any restaurant and room service with the exclusion of a rib eye and lobster. I can easily live with that. I had a filet for room service and it was perfectly cooked The staff: once again Manuel the asst reservations supervisor has been fantastic to work with, going way above and beyond his job if I encounter a hiccup. Renya in the breakfast buffet (staff serve you food) is again beyond fantastic, remembering my choice of beverages for breakfast snd immediately at my table. The pool bar, Manuel and I believe his name is Eduardo are fantastic too, along with Paul and Francisco working the pool area. Again food is very good. By the way, hotel prices if you’re not all inclusive are extremely reasonable and not typical high prices. Drastically lower than when I was at the Sheraton Cabo. The ceviche dishes are AMAZING at the absurd price of $5US. Daiquiris are made with real bananas not chemicals out of a premix. Yes the poo area is crowded, but not too crowded you can’t get a chair and umbrella and it’s so spread out you don’t notice it. The rooms are immaculate and Covid protections fully enforced. I’m fully vaccinated but still follow the rules. They now offer 2 free Covid rapid tests per room, booked through the concierge (I believe Sundays they do no have the in-house testing). I picked up my results in about 45 minutes, took a picture of it and uploaded to United’s new travel ready center. My documentation was approved in 20 minutes and didn’t have to deal with it at the airport. All the staff I met were extremely professional, friendly and service oriented. I go to relax and the 2 times I’ve been there I have not left the resort and have no desire to. Everyone I met by the pool all those days were also impressed. No complaints. You don’t run into this often. So, in a month I’ll be back and I cannot wait. Fingers crossed I can take another trip in the fall. Thank you for a fantastic stay Bobby D…
APRIL 4 TO APRIL 9 2021 The Good: Staff very, very friendly as many reviewers state, they really try to please. I tipped extra as they deserved it, and they appreciated it. COVID testing went smooth, but give yourself some time to get it done, results were fast, but a lot of paperwork. The Bad: I Walk up to registration, after an all-day travel day, and the young women tells me that my EXPEDIA ALL-INCLUSIVE rate reservation is wrong. The MARRIOT must charge you an EXTRA $80 a day for your 16 year old daughter?? I said my document here from EXPEDIA states that I'm paying an EXTRA GUEST FEE of $210.10 for the 5 nights for my daughter, and it's in the total rate quoted. "Sir, let me go and talk to my manager to see what I can be done." (FYI MARRIOTS own policy is $50 a night for a 16 year old.) The registration lady comes back and states "My manager will reduce the fee to $65 a night" ($67.50 after peso conversion formula) So I guess everything is negotiable in Mexico LOL, even at a MARRIOT. But I said my daughter is already in the rate from Expedia, look at my confirmation from EXPEDIA? Then I was told that it is between you and EXPEDIA, and EXPEDIA is wrong. JUST GREAT - DAY 1! You just can't pick-up and leave so they have you over a barrel. Just a little hello and greeting for $350 U.S. Contacting EXPEDIA internationally is no small task either, after 2 hours of wasted vacation time garbage, from a foreign call center, trying to get things straightened out, I gave up. I thought EXPEDIA was supposed to act as a good intermediary agent, well I received no actual help. So in the end either EXPEDIA did NOT have it's "thing" together OR it was "BAIT & SWITCH" by MARRIOT. Then an additional charge of "HSIA Sales" of 175 pesos per night? I asked what is this? The answer was WiFi? I thought WiFi was included in the ALL INCLUSIVE? Not much, but there was confusion, were they telling me I went to enhanced, when I didn't? And a warning, as some reviewers have stated, if you want good pool side or ocean front seating that's next to pool, you've got to get out there no later than 7 a.m. (probably earlier) to put towels and "nick knacks" down to claim the loungers. MARRIOT could resolve this with a towel policy as some other hotels have i.e. there's a $$$ fee associated with each towel if not returned, that way folks don't leave towels un-attended. The Average: The food is average to good depending on menu choices. BREAKFAST at LA ESTANCIA is the average buffet and menu breakfast choices served at most Mexican resorts. You can see menus under this site. Again excellent service! MIKADOS - good overall, but, if you are accustomed to good sushi restaurants, you'll find the sushi to be average, a C+, but if you ae All Inclusive, you can make up in volume eating what is lacking in quality you might be use to, LOL. The Teppanyaki table was fun, the mom and child loved their choices, my NY Steak had some "chewies". Daughter lover her salmon, both grilled and teppanyaki style. Again, excellent service! Las Casitas - good overall. Would we go back? Maybe. The surprise charge of $350 that we couldn't resolve started the trip off wrong. And there's lots of good hotels in Puerto Vallarta to see.…
We stayed for seven nights in March 2021. Check-in was a breeze, however at that time I was told that they were only cleaning the rooms every other day and if I was okay with that. I did say okay, but I didn’t realize that by agreeing to this the cleaning staff would not be leaving the daily waters and coffee pods which we paid for in the $20 daily resort fee. . As a matter of fact, the two daily bottles of waters and coffee were only replenished twice in the seven night stay. Also, if I had known there was no refrigerator for our personal use in the room, then I would’ve booked elsewhere. We enjoy having cold drinks in our room besides cream for our coffee. Lastly, the bed was so uncomfortable! Rock hard. Such a bummer. Pros: Awesome views in the ocean view rooms Waiters at pool area gave excellent service. Every single one of them. Great fish tacos and the aguachilies were so tasty. We did not do all inclusive, but found their prices to be reasonable. We usually had breakfast and dinner off site, but for lunch and drinks at pool, our bill averaged $35-45USD per day. Literally five minutes away from airport. Cons: Lots of kids running around pool area Beware of crocodiles sign posted at beach Small Mr Coffee machine in room. Coffee was so mild and tasteless. Some mornings they would be out of pool towels by 8:00 am. I went into gift shop to look at swimsuits and the gals never asked if I needed help, but rather watched me like I was going to steal something. It was very uncomfortable. I just left and didn’t buy anything. Tips: Marina has some great restaurants. Safe area. We walked two miles every morning. You can buy a decent bottle of red wine from the Oxxo market in the marina for around $8 USD. I purchased a Cabernet from Argentina. Ubers into town were around $5. Very friendly drivers and they’ll pick you up right in front of hotel.…
This was our 5th visit to the Marriott in PV and we already have another trip planned for this coming March. Our experience gets better each and every time! From the moment you arrive to the moment you have to leave, everyone there makes you feel like you are at home. The pool is just gorgeous since they have remodeled it. The rooms are beautifully re done as well. The lobby bar is great. It’s all an open air feel which I just love. The grounds are beautifully kept and the entire hotel is impeccably clean. The food is also wonderful. A few people who stood out for us that always make it an amazing stay. Raul at the pool is amazing! You have to request his area. Each and ever time we come to PV we only sit in his area. Armando and Ernesto were great as well. We had them when Raul was working in the restaurant. My only negative is that the fitness center needs to be remodeled. It’s run down and very depressing to be in. I ran outside within the Marina area which was completely safe. I have heard they will be doing the remodeling this coming May. I am sad I will not see it in March when we return. I will have to wait until next year. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting PV. The location is perfect and a cab ride away to all the wonderful downtown restaurants.…
The service is over the top. Victor at the pool, Eduardo at the covid test site (of all things) and all others. I am ambassador elite at Marriott and stay at JWs and RCs most of the time and this rivals them on every level. Thank you for a wonderful stay again (have stayed several times before).
