We were at Friendly Fun PV mid January for 10 night.
Some fabulous staff made many special moments: Hugo...great beach waiter Gabriel and Roodofo good buffet server Alegranda good at Mexican and buffet Eli and her service with a smile!! Isaac pool aerobics.
A la carte Frida was open every other day and really nice with cloth tablecloths and exceptional service. Azure is the other a la carte open on opposite days. Azure is definitely not a classy restaurant and really loud with hard wood tables and hard chairs and we would have preferred the Mexican Frida be open daily.
Nice to have various live music as they bring in various live performers at various times through the day. Evening music is loud and the same recorded track every evening...would be nice if someone set a new track each night and the speakers were pointed away from the resort.
Resort rooms were clean and if you needed anything you just call 0 and someone would be at your room within minutes.
Beware of the pigeons in the buffet area and I advise going right when it opens to avoid contaminated food.

Friendly Vallarta truly lives up to its name, Our first visit was 3 years ago just as Covid restrictions were lifting. We liked it but mostly for its gorgeous beach, palm trees and location. Now, our 3rd visit since, we got to see Friendly at its finest. It’s just gotten better with each visit. From the first interactions with the Bellmen (Enrique and co.)and front desk staff, to our “Buenas Dias” Cappucinos from Teo and Braulio at the coffee bar, to the welcoming mimosas and kind greetings from Aldahir and his team (Cap Raul, Beatrix and Juan) and right out to the pool and beach servers (Double Double, Kalusha, Hugo, Braulio and Elisio, the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome and like family. Many went out of their way to ensure we all enjoyed our stay including Israel who tracked our every move and ensured he was around to push my husband in his wheelchair up the ramps, help him into / out of pool and even to pull his wheelchair through the sand to allow my husband to access the beach, Enrique at the bell desk spoke wonderful English and was beyond helpful with ANY inquiries we had. The location was right on the bike path to/from the Malacon so we were able to rent bikes close by and Enrique was able to suggest bike rides that were close. The food also got better each time. Our family dubbed this visit the “Tenderloin and Tuna tataki” trip. The a la carte restaurants were great with no extra charge for steaks or seafood! The extras like morning yoga (wished it could be DAILY) , aqua aerobics, kayaks, beach BBQ’s, paella, cooking /bartending classes, sunset cocktails and salsa dancing kept us hopping and wondering what surprises were in store each day. Im not sure why this hotel is rated a 4 star as its more like a 2. For anyone traveling as a couple or with adult friends I would not recommend it at all. They state on their website that there is an adult section which there is an adult pool however, a pool and bar is pretty much the jist of it. The same music was playing repeatedly daily and the music for the family side was always playing over top. So you can't really enjoy the music because you can't decide what one you should be listening to. It would have been much better if the same music was playing for both sides as they are side by side. Adult side closes at 9 pm and they have a little dance floor with a DJ that starts at 8 close to the beach but they shut everything down at 10 pm. Zero entertainment for adults besides some daytime zumba. One night there was about 50 of us down at the dance party so to speak having a few drinks and listening to music and dancing. At 10 pm they shut all the music off along with all of the lights leaving everyone sitting in the dark. You have an option to move inside to the lobby if you wish. It was mind boggling as to why they would black the entire place out with so many of us still there. The following night they had a local wedding so they took the dance floor and moved it over along with the sound system and played music for the wedding party ONLY and the dance foor was off limits if you were not part of the wedding party. We were invited by the bride to come dance however, the staff told us we had to leave. Needless to say for someone traveling from another country and paying top dollar to enjoy a resort wasn't welcome to the enjoy a night of drinks and dancing because we were not part of the wedding party. You would think they would still be able to entertain their guests that paid for an extended stay but they prioritize one thing at a time apparently. The food was ok. However, they have two specialty restaurants included in the booking. One was available to book the entire stay but the seafood one they said would open on the weekend so once the weekend arrived we were informed it would be next weekend. We stayed a total of 9 days and had 1 option the entire time besides the regular buffet. I have stayed at a few different resorts and this one was definitely the worst I have been to. Needless to say it was our first and last time visiting the friendly.

When we checked in, they did not give us any information about the resturants and times they were open. Found out on our last day there was an app for that! No overview or map of the resort. The room we were in was supposed to have a fridge but no fridge (needed it for my insulin), no fridge available. If you wanted a hot meal, you had to go to the one station that had a cook behind the grill. The special of the day usually fajitas was the only hot food. The food that should be hot were always either very luke warm to cold. Cold potatoes, cold spaghetti and meat balls, cold chicken etc. No heaters under the food to keep it warm at all. Food very repetitive. Unsanitary drinks..example if you had your own thermos they would sometimes put a rim of salt using the same salt that they used for everyone else therefore contaminating the salt for anyone else that gets a rimmed glass there after. Also they would use the same spoon to stir the thermos (that had been used already with that person's saliva in the thermos) with the same spoon that would go back into the water that would be used for everyone else's drinks. Contaminating everyone else's drink with the thermos persons germs. Disgusting! Coffee station was awesome. Pizza station was good. Adults only snack bar was great. Frida's and Azul (la carte) resturants were great and food was hot, and service lovely. Our room was clean and fresh towels were given everyday. Would I recommend this place, no. If the food situation improved yes I would.

This hotel caters more to local familys, than other people in my opinion. I was refused entry to the breakfast buffet by the beach b/c I was solo, yet 4 locals butted in front of me and go in. When I said table for uno, she said no full, when 4 empty chairs were within my sightline. The pizza place refused to seat me as well b/c they were not technically open. I felt I could have been seated, and just able to get a drink or coffee and wait that 15 min before it opened. The room had a nice bay view. The air con would not go below 25 C, which was very uncomfortable. Even if you tip the waiters, I found they did not come back and ask if I wanted another drink. The food was ok, but nothing special. I did not like that the food handlers, did not wear gloves, and the guy at the desert station was replating squares with his bare fingers. The room was clean, but the water cooler to refill your water bottle on the 4th floor was smelling like vomit. Something was growing in the overflow tray no doubt. That is a strike for sanitation. Also the bartender, used a common spoon to stir my drink in my own cup, then dipped in water for the next person's drink. Also beware of the tour seller in the lobby, and his cancellation policys. If you have to cancel a tour, you may not get a refund to your credit card, he will ask you to come back day after day to get your refund in cash. Very strange, he said, he cannot credit your credit card back, its company policy. I assume if I had not come back for my refund on the cancelled tour, well the cash, would be pocketed ?????? I did not find this hotel Friendly as they say and I felt like I fit in. I felt like being solo I was invisible and just a nuisance. The hotel sells day and moon passes to get locals in to maximize occupancy and then the place is overrun, with pushy and rude and butting in locals with no manners and screaming kids. I do not recommend to come here.

We had a wonderful stay at Friendly Fun—definitely great value for the money, and it met all our expectations! My husband and I loved that it’s right on the beach, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and there were always activities to keep us entertained. Starting at noon, events were scheduled every two hours until 6 PM. The New Year’s party was absolutely amazing! The staff spent two days preparing it, and it showed. The celebration featured a violinist, saxophonist, mariachis, acrobats, and a fantastic fireworks display—it was unforgettable!
A special shout-out to the events team—Isac, Uri, and Kari. They work so hard and have a natural talent for connecting with people. Kari’s energy is incredible, and her Zumba dancing skills are truly impressive!
I also want to mention the cleaning staff, especially the sweet Tere at the common area, who is fun and loves to have fun with guests, at least for a moment or tow. Our room was always cleaned, and provided with nicely wrapped towels.
Victor, the kitchen chef, deserves a huge thank-you! He went above and beyond to ensure guests were happy, even accommodating the most unusual requests with a smile.
Front staff - Regina and Valerie also accommodated me with all the requests and went beyond the norm.
Bar tenders always worked hard with the smile.
We highly recommend Friendly Fun for a relaxing and fun getaway!

I usually stay at 5-star all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, so I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel. However, it far exceeded my expectations! The view from our room on the 12th floor was stunning. The beach was fantastic with soft sand, gentle waves, and no rocks. The hotel's location makes the sand and water very inviting.
The hotel provides lounge chairs and beds at no extra cost. If you want a spot near the pool, you need to get there early, but there were always lounge chairs available on the beach. They even brought out extra umbrellas upon request. We used the paddle boards and kayaks twice, and the staff was incredibly helpful.
There are three pools: one for families and kids, a warm water pool for teenagers, and an adults-only pool. I didn't experience any issues with loud music. The beach service was good, and the drinks were enjoyable, though you need to ask for premium liquor.
We had a superb dinner at the Mexican restaurant, while the signature restaurant was just okay. Breakfast offered good options and service. On a few nights, there was a night market. The only thing I wish they had more of was night entertainment.
Remember to tip, even at an all-inclusive resort. I initially thought this would be a one-time visit to Puerto Vallarta, but the phenomenal service, great food, and numerous activities in the city have me eager to return. I definitely plan on staying at this hotel again.

This was our 6th visit at the friendly with little to no improvements! Firstly, within the roped off beach for hotel guests, the hotel doesn’t regulate smoking, there is a section that was created for smokers but time and time again, a smoker appears with no adherence to the no smoking policy! Secondary, during the night shift, there is only one security officer that controls the grounds, he doesn’t speak English at all, if English is required, the front desk clerk is requested to assist! The Wi-Fi is iffy, some days it is reliable but other times isn’t not constant. The food, what can one say, terrible, so bad,my wife lost 10 pounds during a 11 day visit! I had a encounter with the male employee that runs the afternoon coffee shop, he was very rude, said “What What” then pointed toward the menu board directing me to tell him what kind of coffee I wanted, then he basically shoved my choice of pastry to me,again very rude!I send a message to the front desk male Manager about this with no response! The beach is nice when raked, this happens once a week. Guests noticed a film of pollution on the top of the swimming portion and discovered this is from 3 fishing boats that park in front every morning, discharging some sort of liquid, I made mention to the male that controlled the guest activity swimming equipment,he simply said, nothing he can do! One issue that should be addressed, about one restaurant in 10 knows English, asked for tea one day, she didn’t know what tea was! One more note, we didn’t have our room cleaned for 2 days, the front desk didn’t have a reason why or where we ever provided a reason why, only insinuating that we had the do not disturb sign hung on the door, this was not the case,only the fall back excuse! The entertainment was annoying due to over the top volume of the music,too loud! The hotel allows children to swim late in the evening, one night until 11:30, as well families staying and doing who knows what in the hot tubs for a lengthily period of time!
The cleaning staff for rooms are very good as well the beach waiters, there when needed!
After every exit from staying at the property we had doubts if we would return but do come back, hoping for improvements but…..

I was a solo traveler and upon my arrival @ the Friendly the staff recognized me right away, as this was my 8th time at the Friendly. They gave me hugs and was so happy to see me again. They went out of their way to make me feel safe and comfortable. People did have complaints but I had NONE. Even if I didn't like what was on the menu I also found something to eat, there was way too much food. I am not a big food person or picky, so it was easy for me to eat. My room was spotless! The resort was clean and staff worked so hard to ensure the place was kept clean.... they were always cleaning or doing maintenance. People complained about the music being too loud. Granted it was somewhat loud but it didn't bother me, I just zoned it out. Some people complained about all the Mexicans at the resort. Who cares! They bought and paid for their vacation just like I did. If you don't want Mexicans at a resort, don't go to Mexico! I had so much fun and met the nicest people.
My only draw back was the Friendly is now a pet friendly resort. I love animals and have animals. However; I didn't enjoy listening to dogs bark all day long or stepping in their poop. That didn't impress me much.
Double Double, Gabriel, Kauhua, Brulillo, Jose made my trip were so good to me.

They are a mixed of rooms but we always stay in the ocean view rooms. Some rooms only look onto the pool if you want sunsets then the superior ocean view rooms have the best views
