This special and lovely B&B is only 20 minutes walk to Old Puerto Vallarta where the beach, restaurants, and shops are. It is located in the Mexican neighborhood. There should be a saying "if you go to Mexico, be in Mexico" :-) We really loved it. Brischa and Ted were the perfect hosts and we still talk about Ted's breakfast...delicious :-) If you need any recommendations, just ask them. They are also people with big hearts since they are rescuing numerous street dogs...plus some cats and birds :-) so if you would like to take some for a day of fun at the beach, you can :-) Just to see those puppies having fun in the water made our day...and they may even still your heart, so possibilities of going home with a new family member are high :-) Will definitely stay there again.

Superbe location, outside the touristic crowd, only 20 minutes by walk to beautiful Old Puerto Vallarta. Our room was clean, spacious, with two queen beds and a fridge. The breakfast are excellent and generous. The owners, Brissha and Ted are so welcoming, helpful and did everything to make our stay special. We enjoyed theirs dogs and cats. Rest assure, they are well trained and behaved. Would not hesitate to return.

When my partner and I planned our first vacation to Puerto Vallarta back in 2016, we came across this beautiful B&B on Trip Advisor but sadly they were closed for renovations. We are so glad we contacted them again for our trip this year. The place is a perfect balance. It’s located up the hill from the bustling, touristy town of Puerto Vallarta in an authentic Mexican neighborhood. Ted and Birisha were amazing hosts, Ted put on a lovely breakfast each morning before we would head out to explore Puerto Vallarta. We enjoyed the local hikes and walks (we could even take one of their lovely rescue dogs) as well as exploring nearby islands. They only have 3 rooms for guests so you really feel accommodated. We stayed in the Las Animas suite, which has an enormous bathtub and a balcony facing the town and sea. The room was very clean and the décor gave a lovely authentic Mexican vibe to the place. The hammock by the pool was a lovely way to relax in the afternoon and there are loads of lovely vintage couches in the shade perfect for unwinding with a book. Ted and Birisha were so warm and welcoming and were always happy to help with recommendations for activities and restaurants. Would highly recommend this lovely B&B

We absolutely loved our stay at Hacienda Las Animas. The B&B is small and newly renovated, located in safe, local Mexican neighborhood a nice 25 minute walk from the main downtown tourist area on Los Muertos beach. There is also a colorful local fruit and vegetable market maybe a 10 minute walk away. Ted and Brisha, the owners, also run a dog rescue at a nearby location and have a few of their own dogs staying at the B&B. They were all so adorable and we even took a couple out on our walks in the morning. They have a few cats too, which worried me as I am allergic, however they never go into the rooms so I had no problems. Ted cooks the breakfasts – pretty good – and there is always coffee and filtered water in the pool area. Puerto Vallarta caters for everyone and has many wonderful bars and restaurants with authentic local cuisine, Italian, German and other types of food. Increasingly you can get vegetarian food at most restaurants, and there are several new vegetarian and even vegan restaurants opening up now (see my other reviews from this trip). We especially liked listening to music in the evening at Cuates y Cuetes (right beside the pier – good mushroom quesadillas too!) and at the Patio de mi Casa on 311 Guerrero in the Centro neighborhood. Ted and Brisha were real helpful with recommendations for eating as well as activities such as boat hire, hiking, swimming etc. Ted and Brisha do such awesome work for Las Animas Dog Rescue, and we really enjoyed our week’s stay. Until next time guys!

We really enjoyed our stay at this unique B&B. Our room (Sierra Madre) was large and comfortable. We loved the great outdoor lounge on the second floor (outside of our room) with its wonderful vista over the city and ocean, and view down to the pool area. This was a great place to read and relax, with its many chairs and sofa and hammock. The hot breakfast that varied each day was hearty and delicious. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating, always ready to cater to the needs of their guests. As others have noted, the B&B is situated in a residential Mexican neighborhood which felt very safe and had a aura of more authenticity than those in the more commercial districts. There was almost no traffic, but a few good restaurants nearby. Although you feel removed from the busier centre of town, you are actually only a few minutes walk from it. We enjoyed the many rescue animals that we met and took one of the dogs for a walk each morning before breakfast. The free wifi was very good. This place is great for guests who love animals and who are looking for a more authentic experience at an excellent price.

Room Tip: We liked Sierra Madre because it was large with two beds. It did not have a view, but we did not...
