I always drink the bottled water in the containers. When I go to restaurants I order ice water from the restaurant that I am eating in. They also use bottled water. I have visiting Mexico for over 40 years and have not had a problem. I try not to buy plastic water bottles. Bring a water bottle with you and fill from the large bottles in the hotel or the restaurant will fill it for you. Also drinking Tequila and Beer helps. Enjoy your trip
