Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa is a mixed bag, according to various travelers. While the location is convenient for exploring local attractions, noise from events and the vicinity can be disruptive. Guests have had differing views on the value, with some facing pressure for upgrades. Rooms are generally spacious and tidy, although some report mustiness and noise issues. Service receives high marks for staff attentiveness and professionalism. The lively atmosphere and variety of amenities are popular, but the volume of entertainment can be overwhelming for some. Cleanliness is typically commended, despite occasional lapses.

This is one of the better AM resorts we had visited thanks to the overall excellent services, its location near downtown, it’s beach, its very good food and spectacular turtles hatching every day right at our beach chair.

We were well greeted by the resort staff including Mr. Leguillou (General Manager), Cecilia Santana (Reservation Manager), Cinthya Perez and Martha Lira (Member Services Executives). Cinthya and Martha did everything they could to make our stay a very nice and pleasant one. Thank you so much for the bottles of spirits in our room, the hydrotherapy and the bali beds. We very much appreciated them. Both Cynthia and Martha's knowledge and friendly, happy and welcoming attitude made members feel worthy to be a member of the Unlimited Vacation Club.

However, we were disappointed that as a Diamond member, we were not treated better in terms of upgrading like at other AM Resorts. We booked the Preferred Club Oceanview Suite but did not get the next upgrade to the swimout unit because the resort was fully booked. However, the second level upgrade, the Mastersuite, was available but not offered to us for no charge. Other AM Resorts had upgraded us to Mastersuites for no charge. Cynthia and Martha made it up by providing the best and very attentive services to us.

The restaurants food was overall very good to excellent. Freshly squeezed orange juice was served. The premises were well maintained everywhere and staff were polite and helpful. We liked the Fire Show. The resort was crowded but chairs and towels were plenty. Our experience at the French Restaurant Cellar room was the best with Chef Marcos who prepared excellent surprised meals for us. Sergio Torres, the Maitre D was very nice and got us the Chef Table although he failed to advise us that there was an extra charge for the lobster. Our cellar dinner at the Italian restaurant wasn’t great, both in food quality and service.

We appreciated four outstanding employees, Cynthia and Martha of Member Services for their knowledge, dedication and excellence in customer service skills, and our favourite Preferred Club bartenders, Manuel (evening) and Alejandro (day) who were very friendly and helpful and made excellent customized drinks. Next time we will stay at Secrets but will seek out the services of these excellent employees at Now Amber.

My family traveled to the Now Amber in Puerto Vallarta for one week over New Year’s. We were 14 people - 3 families with young adults ranging from 17-25. Overall we were very pleased with the resort and our vacation at the Now. We arrived around 2 pm and our rooms were not yet ready as the hotel was full. Most of us got our rooms by 4, but 1 room was not ready until 5 pm. The checkin process was very smooth and quick. Unfortunately it was very overcast and drizzling when we arrived so we couldn’t take advantage of the pools or beach on the first day.
The rooms are very beautiful and spacious. Nicely appointed, very clean with a great bathroom. All rooms have ocean views and face west so you get to see the sunset from your balcony every night if you wish.
The resort is also really nice, very clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really had no issues all week.
Something I really appreciated was the abundant number of loungers at all the pools. We were able to get 14 loungers together all week without having to go down early to play the chair and towel game. That’s unbelievable considering we went during peak season and the hotel was full.
The restaurants were also able to accommodate our large group usually at two tables in close proximity. All of the restaurants were delicious. My favourite was the Asian restaurant a la carte. However many of our group ate at the tepenyaki and did not like it very much even though the show was entertaining. Everyone in the group loved the Italian restaurant and Oceana, the seafood grill over at Secrets the adult only sister resort. The Mexican restaurant was the best I’ve had at an all inclusive, especially the ceviches! Tacos served poolside at lunch were also amazing. Too bad there wasn’t much guacamole to be found.
There were lots of fun activities during the day. We never attended any of the evening entertainment but there were shows for those interested and musicians in the lobby with lots of seating to hang out and have drinks, play games, or have a coffee.
The only disappointment was the beach. It was very rocky and so difficult to go for walks along the beach and difficult to enter the water. If you like to swim in the ocean it may not be the place for you as it is very rough. I chose Puerto Vallarta because the weather is usually guaranteed but we had an anomaly. We had one full day of rain - 75mm of rain! It also rained on the day we arrived. Both the beach and the weather are not the fault of the resort but they did render my overall rating 4/5 instead of a perfect 5/5.
If the beach is not that important to you I highly recommend the Now Amber.

So this was our first vacation this year due to Covid, was a bit different but still wonderful.
Had a blast, traveled with my wife, Daughter (18) and Son (14).
An amazing 5 nights, was so relaxing and felt safe the whole time.
All staff not only wear N95 masks but also face shields 100% of the time no exception.
Constant cleaning/disinfecting. Upon entry to every restaurant they take your temperature and insist on hand sanitizer every time no exception (good thing). You have to wear a mask on entry but once seated masks can be removed. Everything is in individual portions and served with tongs (condiments etc). Lots of disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer left in room and all over the hotel. Occupancy is limited and social distancing is easy (with the exception of the swim up bar sometimes but that is your choice as you can get drinks delivered even in the pool). The buffet is not self serve, Fruits, cold cuts and cheese etc are saran wrapped ion small plates, everything else kitchen staff serve for you behind glass screens, still have plenty of choice and pasta cooked to order (and omelettes etc for breakfast),
Castaways (small outside restaurant by the pool) is closed, Casino is closed (all bars close at 11pm). Was very relaxing and enjoyable, staff cannot do too much for you.

Few shout outs, Adriana in lobby bar always goes the extra mile running around getting you great drinks super quick.
Daniel and Israel in Pool bar are awesome, always in the great fun spirit serving delicious and perfectly measured drinks, Jairo "Princessa" seems to be wherever you need him and always seems to be ready to help. Junior delivering drinks around the pool from early morning to close always with a smile!! Had a slight issue one night, nothing be but Vladimir showed up and sorted instantly to everyones satisfaction.
Saving the best for last, Canelo and the entertainment team did all they could to make sure everyone has a great vacation, always full of life and energy organizing fun things to do and offering great suggestions (and I loved the water volleyball, Kayak, paddle board etc).

Would defiantly recommend, and will be back, kids were so sad to leave.

See y'all soon. John Murphy, Texas

Our room 1477 was in the preferred club and was wonderful, full of amenities, with king size bed, jacuzzi on the balcony, wifi everywhere ( there is an app called unlimited connectivity which gives you access to lots of things even menus concierge room service and amenities once you register). there are adjustable panels to make separate bathroom if privacy preferred. full length mirrors to check yourself on leaving the room. The concierge were warm and friendly and arranged surprises for our wedding anniversary, thank you Viviana. The pool area is large spacious plenty of sunbeds towel es etc with children's pools with slide. The kids were never any problem just pleasant to see them having fun. Mario our pool waiter kept us supplied with cocktails. There is no cocktail list, just think of a cocktail and it is by your side in no time. entertainment in the pool area is if you would like it extensive if not just stay on your sunbed. There are some unusual games like drumming, horse shoes, water volleyball, beach volleyball and my favorite, water balloon volleyball played with towels and is hilarious. I also played boules but it was not called that. Thank you to the entertainment especially Aldo and Mario for their Poolside entertainment.. Pools are served served by the barefoot grill for burgers, hot dogs etc I am not a burger fan but the black forrest burger was delicious. There is also Castaways restaurant if you wish a more substantial a la Carte menu withe food second to none and Eric the waiter gave us excellent service there. The pool area has a popular swim up bar should you become thirsty in the pool. beyond the pool is a lovely sandy beach but when entering the water it becomes pebbles and can be sore to the feet so wear beach footwear. temperature of the ocean was 26C paradise. Restaurants are Carnival which is the buffet service but with special cooking areas for delicious omelettes etc. The variation and quality of food is extensive and superb. Think of something for breakfast and it will be there, Beware the bacon is very tasty and therefore popular and can run out so if you do not want to wait I recommend early or late breakfast. Capers next door is the Italian with a la carte menus again excellent fare and service I recommend the lamb shank, melts in the mouth. In the amphitheatre area there are three more restaurants all of excellent quality, variety and service, Thanks to Ignaceaous for the best Mexican special coffee in the Mexican.

I don’t even know where to begin, my family and I decided to go on a family vacation with not only ourselves but our entire extended family think of 20 people going on vacation. Only reason why we chose to stay at now Amber was because of the wonderful experience we had once a few years ago at the secrets side. But now Amber side is family friendly so they say but it actually has nothing to do and no place for anything fun for kids except their discovery center which timewise doesn’t work for most children. The only thing they have for children is one lousy slide in their pool area. The pools are disgusting they are covered in yellow film which I only can assume is P that people have Peed in. Do not be fooled by the fact that this is family friendly as it is not family friendly there are more couples and single people then families. For 2 nights in a row all we heard is people yelling and drinking the whole night up until 4:30 am! With small children that is a big no no! The rooms are so dirty someone in our group had to change their room because there was a used straw in their bed. The mattresses do not have fitted sheets there just flat sheets covering a mattress that’s ridiculous during a time of Covid. I asked for a new set of sheets to be put on my bed the second night and the housekeeping service just put the sheets on my bed expecting me to do it. When you’re on vacation you should not have to make anybody’s bed especially your own. The Floors were sticky the room smelled like musky old cologne and the shower had someone else’s hair in it, disgusting. The hotel stuff wasn’t very friendly. only reason why I’m giving it to stars is because there was two people at the hotel they were extremely welcoming their names were Fernando and Oliver in the carnival restaurant. If you want a big waste of money then stay at this hotel we had to eat out every single night and didn’t get to enjoy any of their all inclusive restaurants

We heard so many great things about this resort from a FB page. We had a fine time but we’re definitely expecting something more.
Food - Institutional food that was bland, boring and sometimes just gross. The Mexican restaurant was just awful. I had a stuffed poblano pepper that was basically a stuffed raw pepper. It was so bad. Who wants to eat a raw pepper? Ugh. Hubby had ribs and it came with fries and corn on the cob. Equally just as bad. We waited 45 minutes to even get one drink at our table. We had to remind the waiter about our drink order. It seemed like we were bothering servers when we had requests.
The buffet was very ok for breakfast but the remaining meals were very okay.
We got a preferred swim out room. We saw a waiter once to get our drinks. We used to the Riu swim outs rooms where you are constantly getting a drink. The pool was always dirty. We had an old band-aid, bottle tops and trash by our pool steps. We asked for it to be cleaned up but it never was. Pool had bird poop, leaves and kids beach toys floating in it every day. We never saw one person clean the pool, check chemicals, clean off our decks, etc. Again, we assumed this was done here as it is a Riu.
The preferred tower is a waste of money in our opinion.
What’s disappointing is that these swim out rooms could be so great if anyone would pay attention to them. We paid extra to stay in the preferred tower with a swim out and felt like it was a waste of money.
We never saw information about events, activities, shows, etc.
The rooms are average at best.

Guests enter a shared lobby (with adults only Secrets) with a panoramic view of the ocean and grounds. After check in, guests are rooms, or junior suites in this case. If you are on the preferred club level, you check in at the club lounge with mini buffet station for preferred club guests only. Rooms are decorated with dark wood furniture and very spacious. Sliding wooden doors seperate the bedroom from the bathroom when privacy is needed. The restaurants were decent. The pool is small and crowded. The pool chairs go quickly. Customer service was there but not stellar. It was ruined by the constant timeshare sales pitches. The location is good with just a 5-7 minute taxi ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta.

A few things about the resort that were disappointing:
Adult guests staying at NOW cannot use the facilities of Secrets, even though the property is shared with NOW. I was able to enjoy one day at Secrets after a spa treatment. Secrets' pool is less crowded and the drinks are superior to NOW.
The shared entertainment of the resorts wa cheesy. Some of the cheesiest I've seen at an allinclusive...and I've seen my share.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at NOW Amber. I really wanted to love this resort, esp since I experienced such a fabulous stay at AMResort Breathless Cabo San Lucas prior. I won't say it is not a great hotel. It simply didn't deliver the 4 star all inclusive resort experience I expected or desired.

We had hoped to be at Secrets to enjoy the company of our friends, but due to reduced capacity (Covid allows only 65 percent occupancy) we were placed at Dreams. We elected to upgrade to a swim out room, but the ‘semi-private’ nature of this pool was extremely disturbing. There was a total stranger floating in what should have been our balcony and then lots of children and pool toys everywhere. We could not remain in this space so we were moved to a ‘downgraded’ room on the 10th floor with no effort to provide us with any kind of gesture or hospitality despite having already collected the revenue for our entire stay in a room significantly less expensive than the one we purchased. Not a great way to check in. And every time we went to Secrets, we were made to feel like intruders despite showing Dreams room keys. It should not be such a negative experience. That’s a management issue.

The breakfast buffet was lovely but poorly managed and all three restaurants we dined in had excellent cuisine options but were also mostly devoid of graciousness. Francisco at Capers was an exception and Allison at the Bay Cafe (Secrets) was our absolute star.

There are some odd hospitality choices throughout the resort (lack of chairs of any kind on the front drive) and constant opportunities to trip and fall everywhere you walk, but we really appreciated the Covid testing opportunity on property that allowed us to attend the wedding in the first place. Tamarind and Himitsu are nice dining experiences and the pool area is lovely on the Secrets side away from the screaming kids. I’d recommend the 10th floor room if you’re paying the actual price and not the upgraded price for a swim out room. The elevator waits are tough - especially if a group is in the lobby - but you get used to it. Very good housekeeping team and appreciated the mini bar in the room being stocked with complementary items as part of an all inclusive stay. Was happy to be leaving the crowds and lack of graciousness behind but will carry some memories of the pretty Oceanside location and moments of solitude in the comfortable room (when crowds and kids weren’t screaming below).

Our favourite resort in Mexico because of the wonderful staff and exceptional food. Tony from the Entertainment team made our trip so much fun. His enthusiasm was wonderful. Jesus, Puc, and Oliver gave us attentive service at the buffet and Charly and Jan at the Preferred Club were shining stars!! We travelled this year prior to the travel ban being issued but the cleanliness and access to sanitizer throughout the resort made us less anxious during our stay. See you next year and Muchos Gracias!! ❤️🇲🇽
