Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta garners mixed reviews, with many guests commending the attentive staff and the hotel's vibrant atmosphere, complete with a variety of activities and lively evening events. The rooms are generally seen as comfortable, offering spaciousness and pleasant views, although noise levels and maintenance have been points of contention for some. While the cleanliness meets expectations for numerous travelers, others suggest improvements are needed in the dining and pool areas. The location's scenic beauty is acknowledged, even as its remoteness divides opinion. Concerns regarding value are noted, with criticism directed at food quality and perceived nickel-and-diming.

My husband, daughter, and I spent seven days at the Grand Park Royal in Puerto Vallarta, staying in two premium suites—one for us and another for our 20-year-old daughter.
The buffet restaurant offered a plentiful and varied selection. We always found something delicious, and the attentive staff made sure our needs were met. The resort has three à la carte restaurants—Mexican, Italian, and Seafood. We usually dined around 7:00–7:30 PM, and while the Mexican and Italian restaurants had occasional 20-30 minute waits, we didn’t mind. There’s a cozy bar by the hostess stand where we enjoyed drinks and chatted with other guests while waiting. The service was efficient, and the food was fantastic. The Seafood restaurant, only open for breakfast & lunch, was particularly impressive. I recommend trying it at least once, but be prepared—people start lining up around 1:00 PM for the 1:30 PM lunch opening.
Our premium suite on the 11th floor offered amazing views and access to the exclusive Ekinox rooftop area for adults 18+. This rooftop area is a gem, with premium drinks, food options, loungers, sun umbrellas, and shaded cabanas. The suite itself was very comfortable with a king-size bed, a spacious walk-in shower with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers, and ample closet and shelf space. We also had a large screen TV, a desk, and comfortable seating. Housekeeping ensured our room was always fresh, tidying up between noon and 3:00 PM each day. The only thing I wished for was more places to hang towels or wet bathing suits in the bathroom.
The resort has two pools with loungers and cabanas, but they fill up early. Many guests claim spots by leaving towels, books, or sunscreen. There are signs against this practice, but the rule isn’t enforced, so if you want a lounger, get there early—by 8:00 AM, spots are gone. As for the beach, the sand is clean, but no loungers are available. The vendors on the beach are polite and not pushy. The waves vary throughout the day, ranging from calm to large and rough, affecting swimming conditions.
One downside is the resort’s location, about a 20-minute drive (200-300 pesos) from the Malecon Boardwalk and Puerto Magico port. The airport is about 30 minutes away. The sun also doesn’t hit the pools or balconies until the afternoon, making it difficult for morning sunbathers. However, the rooftop area provides sun all day long, with plenty of shade available.

Excellent service from the hotel, friendly attention from the staff at the time of arrival only do not have valent parking yet so you have to park the car on your own, the room was very comfortable and nice and the cleaning do it every day, as for the pools are large and a maximum depth of 1.65 cm that if the water is not warm if not that it is at room temperature. Very good activities as every day they have a different one, from volleyball in the pool to beer jar competition and very good food also 9/10 the buffet is mostly good and they have 4 restaurants so you can choose something different every day. If you are an adult and not carrying children you will have access to the ekinox bar which has several drinks, tuna sashimi toast and aguachile as well as a warm pool and a jacuzzi 10/10

We just returned yesterday from a 9 day stay and our family of 4 (2 teens) had an amazing time! Our room was in the older section which still had an amazing view and was far enough away from the entertainment that there were no noise issues. The room was clean, and spacious enough for us. A couple of times we didn’t get towels, but you can request more with their app, and in a few minutes towels arrived.
As for the food, we always found the buffet to have good variety and finding something to eat was never an issue. The serving staff like Sergio and Filberto make you feel welcome and keep your drinks topped up.
We ate at the a la cartes a number of times and also enjoyed the food even if it needed a little more seasonings to our taste. Most times the waits for dinner weren’t too bad, but worst case scenario they give you a pager and you enjoy a drink at the lobby bar while you wait.
The snack bar also had good food with the usual burgers, hot dogs, pizza etc. They even had some fresh fish from a grill on the beach which was a nice touch.
Getting to town was easy in a cab, and prices are around $15 to the Malecon, but somewhat negotiable. The local bus will pick you up and drop off right outside the resort and only $10pesos per person and with traffic just as fast as a cab.
The staff are just so friendly and helpful, and we got to know quite a few of them. The lobby bar crew of Nati, Pablo, Montse, and Jesus are simply amazing at what they do.
We really enjoyed the beach, big waves which might catch you by surprise if you aren’t paying attention, but really fun for our family. There are vendors on the beach but they are absolutely no issue whatsoever, a friendly “no gracias” and they leave you alone. Snorkeling is also pretty good right by the beach.
Was everything absolutely perfect? No (it never is) but relax, you’re in Mexico!

I regret to inform potential guests, particularly international travelers, that this establishment falls critically short of acceptable hospitality standards. Below is a detailed account of our experience:

**1. Service & Hospitality:**
Upon arrival at 6:00 PM, the check-in process took an unreasonable 35 minutes, with no apology for the delay. Staff demonstrated a lack of consideration for international guests, further emphasized by the impersonal requirement to wear wristbands. When we inquired about the twin beds in our room (contrary to our booking request), reception staff dismissed the issue, suggesting we "push the beds together ourselves." Such unprofessionalism reflects systemic training deficiencies.

**2. Accommodation Standards:**
The room’s condition was unacceptable. Notable issues included:
- **Hygiene Failures:** Stained cups, residual trash from prior occupants, and **bloodstained bedsheets** that remained unchanged despite two formal requests.
- **Maintenance Neglect:** Air conditioning vents clogged with dirt (necessitating manual cleaning by guests) and bathroom facilities in an unsanitary, neglected state.

**3. Dining Experience:**
With the exception of the Italian restaurant (which offered passable pizza, albeit incongruously), all dining options were subpar. The quality of food across other venues was inedible by international standards.

**4. Facilities & Activities:**
The advertised "activities" centered on an overcrowded garden pool. Securing a sunbed required arrival by 7:30 AM, yet 70% remained unoccupied but "reserved" with towels—a policy the hotel failed to regulate. Furthermore, the pool’s impractical design made swimming unfeasible.

**5. Security & Connectivity:**
The hotel’s open-access policy allowed non-guests to wander premises unchecked, raising safety concerns. Additionally, rooms lacked reliable WiFi and GSM signals, severely limiting communication.

**6. Positives:**
The property’s sole redeeming qualities were its scenic views and adequate soundproofing.

**Final Remarks:**
This hotel operates far below industry standards, with critical failures in hygiene, guest service, and management oversight. We departed two days early to relocate to alternative accommodations. Until radical improvements are made—particularly in staff training, cleanliness protocols, and facility maintenance—I strongly advise international travelers to avoid this property.

Let’s start off with the food, which isn’t fit to feed my dog. It’s the same tasteless selection and extremely disappointing for an all inclusive. The only half decent food is the Italian but beware. If you have a family with young children stay away. They don’t allow children in the Italian restaurant. Being a hotel on the water, you’d think they’d have a good selection of seafood with meal options but sorry to disappoint, they have food I wouldn’t feed to starving children in a third world country. You go to the buffets to have a meal and they run out of clean plates and there’s no sense of wanting to bring clean plates out so you can eat vs sit there for 25 minutes waiting for them to clean a plates which never ended coming out. Let’s move onto the drinks. I understand cost savings but with how much you pay to stay here. You’d think they’d have and serve better than bottom shelf alcohol that are over sweetened and watered down. You ask for a drink and the bartender makes whatever they want and when you try to explain to them that it’s not what you wanted, nothing special, they look at you like you’re stupid. Now onto the facilities. Good luck with the elevators. They are tiny and move at a snails pace so you end up waiting 4-5 minutes for an elevator which feels like it’s in its last let when you step into it. There’s bird crap everywhere you go and be careful when slightly leaning on the railing in your room otherwise you’ll end up falling to your painful death. There’s no place to put your clothes away while your staying for an extended time and the bathroom door doesn’t even close without slamming it shut, waking everyone in the room up. The seating in the room is made for people with no backs and extremely long legs which is extremely uncomfortable. The beds are just like sleeping on the rock hard floor and the pillows are like putting a sheet in a bag. The seating at the pool are half torn up and mostly covered in bird crap. They put the gym above sleeping rooms and so if you have a small child who naps, forget about it during the day because all you hear is people slamming weights down through your ceiling. Definitely not my first all inclusive and absolutely disgusted and disappointed with this one. The reviews made it sound decent and I was optimistic prior to arriving but I was absolutely wrong. All in all, I feel like you better off spending the little bit more and stay at the Hyatt or Hilton down the road.

We selected this hotel because it is within walking distance of our new condo that we were closing on and then going to daily for cleaning and going through (bought turnkey). Stayed 8 days.
Our initial thought was that we were on a Carnival cruise - but I’ll upgrade that to a Royal Caribbean 😂 … but just barely.
We worked at our condo each day so we only experienced the room, breakfast, rooftop bar, dinner and lobby bar/night entertainment. We never went to the pool or beach.
Overall, this isn’t Puerto Vallarta - don’t stay here for a Mexican experience…but I would say the same for any hotel zone hotel.
The rooms are nice and the bed/pillows are comfortable.
Food is just OK - you will learn to navigate what works best for you. The drinks are fine - the pour is always on the light side unless specified.
There are two consistent dinner options - for us, the Italian restaurant was best … and we figured out what worked for us.
We enjoyed ending our day at the lobby bar with entertainment - a couple of drinks and we were done.
The staff is generally very nice and accommodating. There were smooth experiences at the restaurants and rough … same staff - something going on at times.
Bar staff were all very nice - we tipped small amounts consistently.
I found the rooms noisy - from pool entertainment. It seems that the shape of the building heightens the noise from below into the rooms - you cannot hear the noise on the rooftop area. I like to nap around 5pm and it was always noisy. Also, the evening entertainment was noisy until 10 or 11pm every night!
The main complaints I heard from others were: No sun until late in the day, inconsistent food availability (specifically salsa and guacamole during the day), Wifi connectivity and food quality.
The WiFi was out for days - we burned through our data plans and it cost us over $15 per day.
We didn’t partake but the beach looks nice and seems swimmable.
We saw whales daily from our balcony and rooftop.
If you’re wanting a Mexican/Puerto Vallarta experience this isn’t it. The hotel served its purpose for us (bed and food while we prepared our condo) but I wouldn’t stay here again. I’ll repeat, the staff is nice and the hotel is nice though - it just doesn’t come together and certainly isn’t what makes PV special.

Dear Ionnyg2025 Thank you very much for your comments, it is very important to improve our level of service and the satisfaction of our guests. We understand your discomfort in reference to the noise of the night shows, but as you know, some night shows require the use of a microphone for some of our actors. We are currently working on a project to improve our Wi-Fi network, which will make the service more efficient. We hope to welcome you again in the future and you can enjoy a pleasant stay with the new changes we are making to the facilities. Sincerely. Guest service

You definitely get what you pay for. Unfortunately due to the location of the hotel and it facing north there was no sun at the pool until around 4 PM every day in January. There were only a few usable chairs that got sun before that. You had to go down at 7 AM to reserve a chair or you wouldn’t have won the entire day. They close the beach for hire tides at Smart, but there is a public beach around the corner you can walk to easel. That is where you can get the most sun. The staff overall was very good and the food quality was Better than average especially for the price point. The rooms were large and renovated. The reusable water bottles were a complete joke. They need disposable water bottles in the resort. The lunchtime snack bar was great for kids. Dinner was pretty awful but breakfast and lunch were good. $12 taxi/uber to town. $35 Uber xl to the airport.
Very family friendly and kids club was great.

I do not recommend this hotel, the staff caters to you unwillingly and their food also leaves to be desired. If you hand over the room you can no longer enjoy the services of the hotel, being that in other large chains like RIU or the Xcaret hotel art if you can. The rescueable thing is the beautiful view you have in the room.

Every room faces the Pacific Ocean and has breathtaking views. The staff are hardworking and kind.
However, my 8 day, 7 night stay was very disappointing because the facility needs work. The AC in our room leaked all over the couch beneath the vent for two nights, keeping me awake. The patch job done by a maintenance worker after the first night lasted about an hour and started dripping again. The staff said they did not have any way to dry the wet couch, so the water just settled in and began to smell. The bathroom wreaked of sewage most of our stay. I believe maintenance applied sealant at the base of the toilet to remedy that. They claimed to be booked and refused to change our room.
There are only four restaurants and the dining options are limited.
The cleaning staff neglected to leave was cloths or fill the shower gel for days. And, they left a bag of discarded trash on the bathroom counter.
This was not the best resort experience.

The twin beach is beautiful, they can improve in cleaning the rooms (glass, surfaces, armchair covers and benches at bedside), as well as in the food of the buffets (breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks). Alcoholic drinks are not the best quality and they wear drinks like mojitos and put better quality wines and spirits (for the cost they have).
The staff very friendly and friendly, the entertainers of the hotel and the activities if more is missing.

It depends. They give you a form to fill out with lots of options for how you'd like your clothes cleaned, and they charge per item. Overall it's very affordable and they did an excellent job cleaning my clothes.
