We stayed at Catalina from 1 to 8 September 2009. This is one of the best vacation values that you can find anywhere. It was a fantastic visit as we celebrated our 35th anniversary. The Catalina Beach Resort has character, charm, and a helpful and friendly staff that add up great place to visit! This was our first visit to...

We just came back from a week at the Catalina. It is a wonderful hideaway. It is one of those rare places on this earth you can get away from it all and everyone should spend some time there. Bon the Explorer in her review sums up the resort and we had the same terriffic experience. The Catalina is not...

We were unlucky weather wise. When we arrived to Zihuatanejo, it was extremely humid and warm. We were greeted warmly at the reception desk when we arrived. We had booked a "Casita" which had no A/C. We weren't terribly disappointed by this because it was our fault that we didn't book the room with the A/C. What disappointed us was...

When my sister first suggested to me that we go on a girls trip to Zihuatanejo and stay at the Catalina beach resort I was excited but I did not realize what was in store for us. The hotel is build on a rock hill which is made up of many levels overlooking the La Ropa Beach. It is the...

Playa la Ropa is certainly one of the nicest beaches around and we really enjoyed our time in Zihua. Catalina Beach Resort has a really unique hotel with a beautiful pool, beach area, bar/restaurant and a wonderful staff. I hesitate to even say anything bad about the place but I can't get over how dirty the rooms and walkways around...

After lots of research, I decided to splash out a bit and stay and The Catalina ( about $120 a night when the tax is added ). I had only planned to stay in Zihuatanejo for a couple of nights as was meeting friends in Mexico City afterwards, so wanted to stay somewhere nice. When I arrived at 4pm my...

We love this hotel. We have stayed in Ixtapa 5 times and this time decided to stay in Zihua since we spend most of our time here anyway. I think it was a bit more expensive to stay in Zihua because there really aren't any package deals, but we think it was well worth it. The hotel was clean, the...

We loved the Catalina Hotel. I wanted to stay there for quite sometime and i wasn't disappointed. This hotel is one of the oldest in Zihuat perched on the hillside overlooking la ropa beach. The hotel has it all beautiful swimmable beach, walking distance to town, wonderful palapas and high end beach furniture, large infinity pool and great staff with...

Back from visiting Zihuatanejo for our first time. Wish we were still there, hubby's already saving for next year. Fabulous, Wonderful, Amazing, Terrific, Incredible, Beautiful well, you get the idea. Let's sum things up this way... Catalina Beach Resort, La Ropa Beach and Zihuatanejo as-a-whole have replaced my previous "favorite place in the world": Megans Bay, St Thomas USVI. Our...

We stayed at the Catalina for 8 nights in November of 2006. Boy, was it awesome! One small warning, however, is the steps. If you are not able to climb stairs do not stay here. There were plenty of older Americans at the hotel (we are in our early 30s) who had been returning every year for 10 years to...
