I've stayed at Catalina once a couple of years ago. This time was a better experience. Our room had a beautiful porch overlooking the ocean. It was a 'deluxe bungalow,' actually ended up being smaller that a room I had before, but it was still nice. It had AC, a small refrigerator, a large hammock on the porch, and cable...

The Catalina isn't the newest or the splashiest resort on Playa La Ropa, but it is authentic, charming, and friendly. We stayed in a Loma Linda suite, and it was clean and well taken care of. We weren't able to use the balcony because it was so hot outside, but the view was breathtaking, and I'm sure it would be...

We've been to Zihuatanejo many times before but had never considered Catalina becasue of its age. Friends invited us to the sunset bar last year and we fell in love with Catalina and tried it this year. WOW! We stayed in a Linda Vista Suite and it could not have been better. The rooms are large, kept clean and up...

My favorite hotel ever, although not real fancy. HUGE Rooms, huge private balconies, and the most amazing view ever. Very friendly service. Very clean and also very dated. (not new but very cool Old Mexico:)

We stayed for 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is on a very beautiful beach. The pool was lovely and uncrowded. The palapas (lounge chairs and tables) at the beach are the most comfortable setting, and the best place to be on Playa La Ropa beach in our opinion. The staff was wonderful, helpful, and...

This is one of the older hotels on Playa del Ropa. It was very clean, comfortable and roomy, with a friendly and helpful staff. Very affordable. Full breakfast was included. View and setting were spectacular. No bugs. Air conditioning in many rooms and fans everywhere. This was my first trip to Mexico, and I will definitely return and recommend this...

We had a simple but spacious room with a private hammock-equipped porch facing the bay. Just outside was an infinity pool and steps down to the beach. On the beach there's a private cantina where kids can borrow a boogie board. Playa la Ropa is wonderful for swimming, building sand castles or playing in the (relatively) gentle surf. The staff...

This 60 year old hotel is the very best of Mexico; the rooms are all beautiful; the private beach is the best on Playa de Ropa in Zihua; the food is great and all of the staff are wonderful; Eva, the owner is a most gracious host; you'll never find another place like this!

We stayed at Catalina from 1 to 8 September 2009. This is one of the best vacation values that you can find anywhere. It was a fantastic visit as we celebrated our 35th anniversary. The Catalina Beach Resort has character, charm, and a helpful and friendly staff that add up great place to visit! This was our first visit to...

We just came back from a week at the Catalina. It is a wonderful hideaway. It is one of those rare places on this earth you can get away from it all and everyone should spend some time there. Bon the Explorer in her review sums up the resort and we had the same terriffic experience. The Catalina is not...
