This hotel is architecturally stunning and is decorated beautifully. It has lots of charm and character. The whole setting brings you back in time. Each room has a different theme and all were interesting. As with any heritage building-there are a few problems that occur ( such as outside noise ) but well worth it. Food was good and a... More

This is now one of my favorite places to visit and dine in. The renovated mansion is a beautiful place to visit. The food is first class, the service impeccable, and the relaxing atmosphere is amazing. From the hand carved stone pillars to the antique Greek style floor tiles, the place has lots to admire and plenty of places to... More

We live nearby in Ajijic and wanted a 2 day vacation in Guad. Loved the charm and warm friendly hosts and staff. If you want a true old Colonial Mexican experience this fits the bill. The rooms are old fashioned and warm. Not your typical travelers hotel - much better. Great location downtown.

The hotel is in a great old mansion. A lot of renos have been done to upgrade it, while keeping the original character. The area it is located in is on the north side of centro - not the best area, although there are more restaurants and services if you walk about 6 blocks.

The Hotel Casa Pedro Loza provided an exquisite locale from which to explore Guadalajara and the surrounding region (Tequila, Tlaquepaque, ...). Remodeled from an ancient mansion, this petit hotel was such a pleasure! The rooms were delightful, the dining area superb, the meals a delight. And above all, the attentive service from the manager, the concierge, the chef-- all made... More

Let me say the location is great for walking to the Churches and various Museums. However, at night the location has problems including where to eat. We were warned by staff to take off our jewlery before venturing out. WE actual y had no problems and found a very good restaurant for locals. My biggest complaint is we were not... More

We are having such a wonderful stay that just have to review this place early. The place is decorated grandly and beautifully and at the same time, the staff are so inviting and friendly, you feel like either family, or someone very important rather quickly. The rooms are beautiful (although small) and the air-conditioning works great. The mattress is much... More

We were treated to a night of Flamingo dancers. Rooms were beautifully decorated in old Guadalajara style. Lovely people that were helpful finding the right way for us to shop in Tlaquepaque. The food at the hotel was delicious from a chef from Italy. All and all a great time.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
built circa 1850 to be the home of a prominent local family. Some years later, José Francisco Orozco y Jimenez, Archbishop of Guadalajara from 1913 to 1936, lived on the premises; presumably in the area near what is now the Secret Garden guest suite.During his tenure as Archbishop of Guadalajara, Orozco led protests against the secularization decrees imposed upon Mexican clergy in 1918 as a result of the Mexican Constitution of 1917. Those protest, and others that arose nearby and throughout the western regions of the country, led to armed rebellions against the Mexican government. That war, known now as La Cristiada, was an affront against the anti-clerical statutes of the Constitution and the 10-year persecution of Catholics that followed, which resulted in the death of thousands. During that period, a tunnel was built beneath our property that served as hiding place and provided shelter to pro-Catholic rebels. After extensive restorations that were begun in 2004, CASA PEDRO LOZA is now one of many architectural jewels of Guadalajara’s historic city center. In fact, the property has previously been awarded First Prize at the city’s annual award for conservation and restoration. The house walls are built entirely of adobe and the arches of the courtyard are constructed of cantera stone, a quarried, volcanic rock that is mined exclusively in regions of Mexico and Central America. During the remodeling project, significant efforts were made to safeguard many of the significant design elements of the home, including the original building materials, the mosaic floors, tile, and ironwork. It’s our hope, when you come through the door for your first time and each time you return, that our house is your refuge and that you always find comfort and tranquility here.Room Amenities Each guestrooms has a modern wall-mounted air-conditioning unit, flat screen TV, ipod sound system docking station, telephone and high-speed wireless internet access. The ensuite bathrooms are configured with an oversized shower and a hairdryer in the vanity areas.
