this is distant from guanajuato attractions. loud barking dogs, esp. early in the morning. expensive taxi rides back and forth. lights not working and other broken fixtures. all in all, why would anyone stay here?

Our inn is a 5-minute walk to the Valenciana Church, one of Mexico’s finest colonial churches, the Valenciana Mine, as well as the Casa Del Conde Restaurant and Galleria. All are well-known in all of the travel guides and websites. We are a ten-minute taxi ride to the city center (3 kilometers or less than 2 miles). The cost ranges...

I just returned from a wonderful trip to Guanajuato where my friends and I spent four delightful and luxurious nights at Casa Estrella. The place is gorgeous, clean, and beautifully appointed. The staff is just lovely; we especially enjoyed Angelica's incredible breakfasts and all of Javier's kind attentions. Speaking of attention...Sharon is the best! She added so much to our...

This hotel was really lovely and first class. The staff was helpful and accomadating. It was my 20 yr. olds birthday and they got her a cake. Very thoughtful people and the place was beautiful. I highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I have stayed at a number of wonderful places in Guanajuato but upon reading the negative review of a poster I felt compelled to comment - this beautiful bed and breakfast is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous, upscale, attentive to every need inns we've ever stayed in whether it be in the States or...

We were disappointed with our stay. Everything is mediocre. Breakfast was decent, rooms were okay - but nothing super nice. They don't change your sheets everyday. We had pre-paid in full for three people in a suite, but they had only prepared the room for one. They leave a letter reminding you to tip all the staff. We always set...

We really feel terrible that this family has chosen to write such a negative review. We are actually surprised. On their day of departure, this was their entry verbatim from our guest book: "8/12/07 Sharon, Everything was wonderful. The surroundings, atmosphere, service, and view were spectacular. Thank you. The only negative energy was covered by the gratuity request card left...

AND the rooms are HUGE and COMFORTABLE and LUSH without being stuffy !!!! The decor and warmth are felt the moment you step on the...

Wow! What a wonderful place. I had spent the previous night in Guanajuato at a downtown hotel and hated it. Then I called Sharon and journeyed up the hill to her beautiful bed n breakfast. From the moment I walked in I was amazed at the absolute beauty of the home itself, its wonderful vistas of Guanajuato and the friendliness...

After one night at Quinta Las Acacias which proved disastrous (noisy, unresponsive management, etc) we ventured into Casa Estrella. What a breath a fresh air and lease on relaxation were we given by Sharon Schaap Mendez, the Inn keeper upon our arrival. She greeted us in such a warm fashion that we were instantly wooed by her charm, knowledge of...

There is very little I can add that hasn’t been said already about this wonderful B&B. Nevertheless, I thought I would write a very short and quick note because I wanted to confirm that they absolutely deserve every word of praise they receive. The meals are outstanding, the complimentary beer and tequila are above and beyond anything you would ever...

Muchisimas gracias. We appreciate your comments and hope that we continue to live up to and exceed our guests' expectations. It's our chance to share our love of Mexico, it's population of artisans, and especially our beautiful city of Guanajuato. Hasta la proxima! Until your next visit!

We have stayed in many hotels in Mexico and Casa Estrella is at the top. Our family of four stayed in the Casa Estrellita which was beautifully decorated and very functional for a family. Javier and the staff made us feel right at home and were happy to cater to our every need. The B&B is in a perfect location...

“Anything we needed they took care of. Did not use a fitness area, so cannot elaborate on that point. Safe neighborhood - we walked a lot, and taxis were easily accessible as well. We stayed in quarters that were separated from the main part of the house. It was quiet. At night a nice breeze. Ceiling fans if needed, but we didn't need them. Jetted tub and shower in our bath was nice too. Luscious linens and very well appointed with art and artifacts from throughout Mexico. Satellite TV was nice when we wanted to watch an NBA playoff game. Lots of quarters so great for groups and they can cater - we will think about it in the future for a group getaway or wedding. The Inn is high on the hillside away from the city center so it is much quieter than downtown. They city is VERY loud with noise until late at night, and sometimes we could hear the music drift even up to the hill top at night - but it was pleasant. Down in the center of town I don't think we would have gotten much sleep.”
