I rented a room at the Hotel Antiguo Vapor for Christmas 2007 and it is one of my favorite all-time hotel stays. The hotel itself is an 18th century mansion with endless nooks and crannies of stone walls, breezy courtyards and colorful yet homey decorations. My room (Azulejos) had a brick domed ceiling and an enormous open shower decorated in...

We absolutely endorse all previous positive comments: great central location; unbelievably friendly, courteous and always helpful ownership and staff; modern and spotlessly clean rooms. Breakfast is basic, but can be adquately augmented from the reasonably priced and delicious Mexican-menu. The daily freshly-squeezed orange juice is the best ever. The Hotel Antigua Vapor is a work-in-progress, with 10 rooms available and...

We stayed 2 nights in November. The hotel was a very nice place to stay in the central part of the city. Its an eclectic looking hotel built from what was an old bakery. Lots of stone, brick and local touches Guanajuato is literally a city that flows up and out of a bowl. No matter where you stay in...

Unqustionably the Hotel Antiguo Vapor is the most enjoyable place I have ever stayed at in over 40 years of business and vacation travel. The architecture is delightful, a mélange of passageways, the breakfasts are great, and the location could not be better (it's a short block from the Alhóndiga de Granaditas historical museum and the market). The rooms are...

It was our first time in Guanajuato and hotel within walking distance to el central. We were surprized to be there during the annual Cervantino Music festival. The accommodations were great and very comfortable. Hope to return next year again.

I stayed at Antiguo Vapor just one night in August 2007 but I would have stayed more. The location is perfect, the building has been recently (and very well) reorganized, and still some work is going on for new rooms but with no inconvenience or noise for the guests. The room was large, colorful, well furnished and with an amazing...

Due to the overwhelming positive feedback for Hotel Antiguo Vapor we stayed there for one week in June 2007. To make a long story short .... it really was fantastic! Beautifully designed, centrally located, super clean, great service, relaxed atmosphere, very personal. This gorgeous building used to be a bakery with a "vapor" oven, which still there. Just ask Pilar...

From the personal welcome, to the daily assistance in finding wonderful places to eat and tour, impeccably friendly and obliging staff (and marvelous Pilar), and sparkling clean environment with such attention to detail (beautiful mosaics), this was a true gem of a place. I highly recommend staying here and would return in a heartbeat. One small recommendation - a more...

This hotel was wonderful!! We stayed for 3 nights before going on to San Miguel de Allende, then came back and stayed another night. The history of the hotel is very interesting and Pillar, the owner, makes everyone feel right at home and is very, very gracious. The rooms are wonderful. Clean and very "Mexican". You are very close to...
