One of the key advantages of this hotel is its location in the Historic Downtown, just 2 blocks from the Zócalo, the center of the city where the public plaza, cathedral and the national palace are.

Despite some recommendations from sites and travelers to stay in the “tree-lined neighborhoods” that are more upscale, we opted to stay here in the heart of the city. There is something happening on the plaza all the time - people gathering, children playing, musicians singing, vendors selling – it’s all there, all the time. And despite the many, many people present in the downtown area, it is surprisingly clean and law enforcement is present everywhere. We walked all over the downtown area without incident, and on occasion we used UBER to travel to other neighborhoods (the process worked exceptionally well).

We had a comfortable suite on the 6th floor of the hotel and were here for our entire stay in Mexico City – 10 nights. The concierges, Edgar and Alejandro were invaluable, and we would classify their service as “above and beyond”. The hotel staff was very welcoming throughout our stay and we give them very high marks. Also, the Reception Supervisor, Jocelyn Loo, was very attentive and always available to address any issues.

We have already decided that we will return to Mexico City in the future, and we will once again stay here at the Hampton Inn & Suites in the Centro Historico.

Unbeatable location and room spotlessly clean - all for a very reasonable price. Obviously it's not as luxurious as a 5-star hotel but it's very adequate -hard to get better value for money. Would definitely recommend.

To put my comments into perspective as an Hilton Diamond member we were upgraded to a suite, no issue with the lack of windows as mentioned by a previous reviewer.

Situated in an old building with a very colourful glass ceiling,, iron railings around the atrium; quite unlike the modern Hampton sterile offerings.

The location is excellent, a 3 minute walk to the main Constitution Plaza and situated in the Centro Historico. For such a location it was amazing that we heard no outside noise or from within the hotel.

The rooms and facilities were spotlessly clean and good aircon

And yes, Edgar the concierge very helpful in making bookings

For all the facilities including breakfast the price for our 3 night stay was very reasonable, again especially for a city centre

At 1/4 the price of 5-star hotels in Mexico City, Hampton Inn is a name I trust for a solid value when the vacation won’t be centered around spending time in the hotel.

I see some complaints about the breakfast—total nonsense. This is how the Hampton Inn does (free) breakfast and it’s totally consistent across properties with some regional flare.

The staff was friendly and up on the 6th floor my sleep quality was really good.

My only advice is that first-timers be absolutely sure that this “Centro” location is actually central to their plans. This was a last-minute trip for me, and I was a bit surprised to find that this hotel is located in what I’d call a blue collar neighborhood with prodigious traffic jams.

I found that all of the restaurants and attractions on my list were pretty far to the east and that to get from this neighborhood to the more “hip” parts of town there was a 2-3 square mile buffer zone that had to be passed through.

I am an avid Trip Advisor reviewer before booking a hotel stay. I really had my reservations about staying here. However, my husband needed 3 more nights to maintain his Hilton Diamond Status and so we went along.
This hotel is situated at the center of historic CDMX. It is a historic building and Hilton did nothing to give it the grandeur it deserves.
I highly recommend reviewing the floor plan before booking a room as some rooms do not have windows that face out doors. For example, we stayed at room 105 (yes, even with his Diamond status): our windows faced the inside corridor. We had our curtains closed the whole time because anyone walking by or in taller floors could see everything. This really made our stay feel damp and closed in.
Bathroom: bad circulation, broken tiles, slow draining sink. 1 towel visibly grayer than other towels
Bed: surprisingly comfortable, as you would expect from a Hampton Inn.
Carpet: absolutely gross
Appliances: safe box, TV remote and all the light fixtures were sticky and had visible stains
Breakfast: skip it. It’s definitely worth forking out another $10 USD for any local Mexican breakfast down the street. Self serve coffee is good, we did help ourselves with filling our water bottles with the water jugs at breakfast. Pastries were stale, eggs were 2/5, whatever dish they had of the day that I had looked like prison food.
Overall: easily a 2 out of 5. The 2 stars was for the 1) service: people there were great so no fault there and 2) location

I will note that we stayed in CDMX for 4 nights. Our first night was at the Hotel Historico Central. I gave that place a 4/5, check out my review there. I highly recommend if you want a similar location and similar pricing and have no need to collect nights, stay at the Hotel Historico Central and check out my review there.

The location is great, right in the Centro Historico. The continental breakfast is decent, with fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and sausages. However, my room on the second floor (despite the upgrade) was very dated, the furniture was just really old, the sofa already had holes in the fabric, the shower door would not properly close, safety box was just giving error messages and not lock. For the rate they charged on the weekend, completely overpriced and not worth the money.

We planned and paid in advance for family travel from the US with our 87 year old father for 11 days based in the websites direct claims and f being accessible, having wheelchair ramps and being ADA compliant—3 persons total. Upon arrival in Mexico City we found all claims for accessibility in and out of the building to be false and misrepresented. Hotels in the area were booked due to the Mexican Independence holiday or were THEEE TIMES the cost of what we paid in advance due to the holiday. Hotel management made no accommodation for us, we lost considerable time and expense moving Dad around and when we brought the issue to light the female manager became belligerent. Further we were given a room in which the shower and safe did not function, and we had to continually ask for basics for 3 persons such as drinking water, soap, towels, glasses etc etc. If you are American here you are simply a tourist to be taken advantage of. We fully i tend to seek reparations for all expenses and losses once we return to the US. We recommend you find accommodations elsewhere so your vacation is also not disemboweled.

The location, a stone's throw from the cathedral, is the strong point. We did not have a good experience because room 323, in addition to being very small, has a window that looks out into a cave right above the engines and is therefore noisy both during the day and at night. Excellent mattress! The bathroom is small, but fortunately with a large shower, no window and no extractor fan. The kit does not include a shower cap.
The breakfast buffet would be very good because there is everything, but unfortunately everything that should be very hot is only lukewarm as the containers had neither a flame underneath nor were they connected to the electricity.
In the small patio where you have breakfast there is always full air conditioning even when it was only 20 degrees outside, so it turns out that the internal temperature is lower than the external one, having breakfast with a jacket on is not exactly the right thing to do. maximum…

First, the staff is kind and helpful.

But the fact they have to work in this run down hotel is sad. I am stunned that Hampton allows its name on this property.

Lobby and breakfast area have obviously been freshened but the rooms are a disaster. In my room the carpet was wet, the room dank and musty, and nothing really worked. It felt like a room from the 1970’s being held together with string and tape.

With this great location, it could and should be so much more.

I was at the Hampton in downtown CDMX for a 4 night stay in what I had hoped would be a pleasant room. But as I found out, I had mistakenly booked an interior room, something easily overlooked on the Hilton website. Its one small window looked out into a dingy narrow corridor, making it worse than useless, and giving the room an unpleasant claustrophobic feeling, and to me the room smelled slightly musty. So for anyone averse to staying in spaces with no natural light or ventilation, I strongly recommend double-checking to avoid this room-type when booking.

In fact, after two nights, I couldn't take it any longer and upgraded to a room with outside windows. This was much better, but they insisted on charging me 25% more per night for it, which seemed like a lot to pay for a bit of daylight. And disappointingly, its windows had at some point been screwed permanently shut for no obvious reason (not a safety issue, as there were outside railings), so there was still no fresh air available.

Additionally, the shower temperature was barely luke warm, and the included buffet breakfast was just about adequate but certainly nothing to write home about. The on-premises restaurant (Garabatos) was decent, but comparatively expensive.

Previously to this I had stayed at the Hotel Catedral, a short walk away, and it was not only significantly cheaper, but much better than the Hampton in the quality of the room, the buffet breakfast, and its restaurant. So overall, even though the Hampton gets good ratings on this forum (perhaps mostly from when it was cheaper), I did not feel particularly positive about my stay at current prices. I believe there are better value options in the area (Hotel Catedral being at least one that I know of).

Hi. I was a gues tthere a few months ago & the concierge, Edgar, set up an appointment for me to be tested in the lobby of the hotel the day before I left. When the tester failed to show up Edgar personally took me to a clinic a couple of blocks away and even paid a few. extra pesos himself because the clinic cost a little more than what I was originally going to pay.

Breakfast in the hotel is included, but if you want to try something else you can go to Garabatos, just right next to the hotel. Another restaurant that is located next to the hotel is Fisher's, a seafood restaurant where you can go for lunch or dinner. However, there are plenty of other options nearby in Centro Histórico where you can eat. Just ask the concierge depending on what type of food you want to eat.
