Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa garners praise for its spacious rooms and stunning views, although a few guests have remarked on the decor being somewhat outdated. The hotel's location is a hit, conveniently situated near Avenida Reforma and Chapultepec Park, with guests often lauding the cleanliness and the array of amenities, including a celebrated spa and gym.

Detailed Reviews
We had a pleasant 6 night stay at the Marquis Reforma. At check-in we used a different credit card than the one we wanted to charge for the full stay. Alejandio assured us this could be done, and we hoped his word was good. When we checked out Alejandio got the initial card switched to the one we wanted to pay on, as well as accepting Pesos that we had not spent. In our experience many American hotel reception desks resist changing a card once you’ve presented it. We were impressed that Alejandio was able to make this happen for us.
This was our first visit to Mexico City. For an initial trip we felt the location was perfect. It was easy to get a taxi or Uber. We were close to most of the things we intended to visit. It was possible to walk to the Chapultepe Park, it was 15-20 minutes away and one needed to take a path that led to a pedestrian bridge over a major highway. Watch your step when walking as the sidewalks/manhole covers in CDMX are not well maintained.
There are many restaurants in the surrounding streets and along the Reforma.
We stayed in a Junior Suite. The hot water was hot, housekeeping was in daily with fresh towels, the sheets were cotton and we were supplied with 2 liters of bottled water a day. Being ultra-hydrated Americans, we went across the street to the 7-11 and purchased a 5-liter bottle to supplement our 2 liter hotel allotment.
The room was missing was a bottle opener. The mini bar had a bottle of beer that needed an opener so we’d have thought a bottle opener would have been provided. The mini-bar fridge was not locked and had room for us to store a few things we wanted to keep cool. The mini bar had a Nespresso machine, if you went down to the lobby before 7 there was coffee available at no charge for early risers, but it wasn’t very hot.
The restaurant in the hotel, which opened at 7, was staffed by a very professional group of servers. We had several breakfasts and dinner there. The breakfast buffet was large and worth a try, but if you weren’t going to eat a lot it was better to order off the menu.

the bed was perfect, and the pillow is feather making it softer without squeezing the ear. You have to be careful coming out of the tub if you are short. If you use insulin, when you book, always ask if they have a micro-fridge or room service, I didn't. I went for my niece's event to the hotel lounge at night

Very good location, clean and nice hotel for a city break.
Room was nice enough but only constraint is that they lock the mini fridge door so you can bring your own cool water in which is bizarre!
Sometimes they will put coffee out in the reception area and sometimes not which is a shame!
The bar seems nice too but always empty.
A nice and clean gym too and manned regularly with a personal trainer onsite.
Area - plenty of food stalls in the local area including coffee shops. A personal favourite i would recommend is 'Dona Blanca' about 5mins walk away. Traditional huevos rancheros with local pricing. The waiters dont speak much English either so you no its not bland food for tourist :-)
i would also recommend the free walking tours (viator/get your guide/freetour) for a chance to really understand the city's culture, best food spots and meet people! We did the cable cars, taco tour and Freda neighbourhood tour. All 3 were fun and well worth it for a tip cost. Lucha libre is good watch too! Dont need the best seats either and dont be fooled by the staff that chauffeur you to your seat because its just for a tip and you dont really need to be chauffeured in!
Taco's - we ate an awful lot of tacos from numerous restaurants and good hygienic stalls! All of them amazing but i think the newly michelin guide Taquería El Califa de León was overhyped. Not really worth the 40mins queue and the salsa and pico were very watery.

On my last night of three, I ordered room service. Gluten free pasta with vegetables. It counted as one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. They sent up plain rice noodles, and a few very finely sliced steamed veggies. No seasoning, no sauce. The tray came with some balsamic and some salt and pepper…. not enough to make up for what basically equated to a $30 usd instant noodle cup.
When I tried to pay, the machine declined all of my cards. I was told that it was because I did not have a card registered at the hotel, they could not charge it during my stay (my wife’s card had been registered and she was not there). While not feeling well, I was then sent to reception because apparently you also cannot charge room service to your room, and I had no cash on me. I gave the person at the front desk my card only to be told that I would be charged 1000 pesos per day of my stay. It would eventually be refunded, but that I was to purchase some sort of credits…. It made absolutely no sense, and is nothing I’d ever encountered.
Finally, I went searching for a cash machine, which was difficult to find, and paid for my overpriced cup of noodles.
Upon my return home, however, I found attempted charges on my card in the amount of 509,000 pesos. Apparently, the trouble came about because the staff had attempted multiple charges equalling about $20,000 usd… the entire experience was ludicrous.
In addition, the tap on our shower was loose and tricky to turn on. Its positioning does not seem to correlate to the temp of the water, so we spent a great deal of time trying to figure out how to do that. Turns out, it’s a confusing combination of turning the handle a full rotation clockwise and placing it where you normally would for cold. There’s about a 1cm, hard to find spot where we could get it to a comfortable place to shower, but it still remained fairly lukewarm most of the time.
Speaking of lukewarm, that was about the temp of the water in the spa, where we paid to gain access, only to find the facilities to be very subpar.
Though there’s a coffee machine in the room, you must pay extra to use it, and they also lock the mini bar completely, unless you pay additionally to unlock it for access to the fridge.
For a five star rating (and five star pricing), I would have expected FAR better than what we experienced.

I have previously stayed at this hotel, hence why I booked 3 rooms for me and my family during our visit to Mexico City.
This will be our last stay here since the service has deteriorated significantly. There is a reoccurring theme here based on my experience and reviews from other guests. The front desk staff seriously needs some hospitality training.
Upon check in, the front desk agent did not accommodate any of my simple requests such as a king size bed, rooms located close to each other or on the same floor. “No” was his answer for everything including my initial request to break some change so I could tip the bellman. This was a negative lasting impression, and I would highly recommend booking elsewhere, as there are newer and nicer hotels located in Paseo de la Reforma that offer similar room rates and better customer service and amenities.
I’m currently staying at the hotel and would love to share additional details about my experience with management.

Pros: Location. Spacious room (We opted for a Junior suite after reading previous reviews on room size). Lots of mirrors. USB plug-ins though out the room. Comfy bed. Bathrobe and slippers provided. Lots of storage. Decent gym.
Cons: You pay for the room and that is IT. The spa costs around $25 usd to use. Not worth it after visiting. Then, there was our minibar experience. We came back to go to bed and wanted to put our waters we bought in the fridge and found it locked. We called the front desk and they said they locked it because we didn't put a card down. We were never asked to put a card down at check-in so this was surprising to hear. Then, they sent up a worker who moved all the minibar items to the top of the cabinet to lock but it wouldn't lock so she ended up taking everything. We were fine with this as we just wanted to be able to use the fridge. The next morning, we got a knock on the door of a worker coming to check what we had used from the minibar... even though everything was taken the night before. The next day, we came back to find everything had returned to the minibar but it was open! I really didn't appreciate the amount of times workers were clearly coming in and out of our room. Cleaning is one thing but this was excessive and invasive. You would also think that a "5 star" hotel would provide free coffee at least and the bottled water size they gave hardly accounted for us being able to brush our teeth. Lastly, the bathtub was grimy and you could tell the carpets and couch in the room were the originals from when the hotel opened in the early 90s.

Dear Miss Geraghty, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa. To Marquis Family it was a pleasure to welcome and offer you our hospitality. Located on one of the most important and beautiful avenues in Mexico City, Reforma Avenue, our hotel offers our guests a convenient location for both business or leisure. That is why we are so happy to know you enjoyed this. On the other hand, we value your feedback as it gives us the opportunity to improve ourselves to offer you a better experience. I have shared it to the managers involved for their review and follow up. Please accept my sincere apology for not having met our expectations. In reference to the spa, it became a concessionaire of the hotel, therefore its services are subject to an additional cost. However, access to the pool is free for our guests. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to host you. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Yours sincerely, Sara Lizarraga

Where to start? We arrived at this beautiful hotel and were instantly greeted with cordial smiles and a politeness rarely encountered in the US anymore. Every single employee we encountered ensured that our stay was top-notch. And I mean everyone! We celebrated my wife's birthday during our stay. I did not request or expect anything special from the hotel, yet when we returned from a trip to a museum, we found that they had surprised her with a little extra surprise in our room. Thank you for making her day even more special! Speaking of the room, we booked a regular king bed room. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and the room was very nice! The bathroom had a shower as well as a bathtub with an additional shower in it, all marble stone. There is a nice safe in the room to secure valuables as well. We did not use the spa. the gym, or the pool so I can't really comment on those amenities, but they were available. The restaurants were very nice and the food and service was excellent! I'd like to point out just a few of the employees. At the front desk, Alex always greeted us with a warm smile and answered any and every question we had. The concierges, Jose, and Hugo, were excellent at providing us with choices for restaurants, and excursions, and really anything we wanted to try, even when we used Uber to get around town. I did approach Jose, a genuinely caring man, and had him help me with restaurant selection for my wife's birthday dinner. He made the reservation and arranged the ride to the restaurant. Hugo was just as genuine and helped us with many suggestions. Greeting us, when we arrived to the hotel was Carlos and Gustavo. These gentlemen greeted us with warm smiles, and were so welcoming to us! They were our first impression of this hotel, and they hit it out of the park! Throughout or five-day stay, each one of these individuals greeted us with warm smiles, asking if there was anything they could do to help us. Without a doubt, we will choose this hotel in the future, not because of the hotel. it is beautiful, but because the "team" was so humble, courteous, and genuine towards us. One last note, the hotel is located in a beautiful area of the city on Reforma Avenue. It is close to many attractions that are within walking distance. Again, thank you for making our stay feel so special!

This hotel is sandwiched between St. Regis and Ritz Carlton and offers the same 5 star service and quality at a fraction of the cost. Why? Because it's a small local chain that does not charge a premium for a brand name. Four Seasons is across the street as well as the Chapultepec Park.
We got a junior suite that consisted of 2 rooms which were separated by a wooden divider not full privacy but good enough. Room was big enough for 3. Separate albeit small shower, bathtub and sink outside the bathroom which was a bit unusual. Quick and efficient service. They quickly set up bed for our daughter, stocked the minibar etc. 3 restaurants but we only ate at the casual cafe downstairs. One of the elevators was out for the duration of our stay but this was not a big deal. Pool and gym as well as sauna on the 2nd floor.
Overall I recommend this property for a visit to CDMX.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is nice.
Cons: I wish they had a store that had snacks and items you may have missed when packing. The restaurants are also not that good. We got room service and only took a few bites and couldn’t eat the rest.
Pros: Salvador who is often a host at the spa facilities. He greeted us with mint tea and an essential oil towel over our heads and told us to breath in and out & then introduced us to our massage therapist. After our massages he greeted us with more mint tea and then whisked us the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and more. With each place he took us he gave us an incredible experience no words could express. Cold plunges, deep breathing, massages, essential oils. Warmed our towels, our robes. No detail was spared. I will remember that experience for the rest of my life, to have someone care for you the way he does and you can tell he loves it!! Wow! He said he can only cater to guest the way he did on week days when it’s not busy.
I highly recommend calling and booking time at the spa just for Salvador!

Overall this is a good hotel but I do not consider it an exclusive property. The room was acceptable but not outstanding. The bathroom and amenities were fine. I did not like the fact that one needs an employee to activate the computer and printer in the business center - this was time consuming and frustrating as it took some time to print a few pages and I prefer to be able to go to a business center if needed without needing another individual present. I was surprised that the rooms are not equipped with coffee makers and that this needs to be requested at an additional charge. Their security guard is equipped with a thermometer and blood pressure kit if one falls ill. The Spa Manager was sarcastic when I was in that area of the hotel which convinced me not to extend the stay when I was considering doing so.

I am not sure though I don’t remember seeing any pets there
Unfortunately no. They do NOT allow pets. Still love this hotel though!
Sorry — did not use spa
We had a spacious and beautiful two-room suite overlooking Ave Reforma. It had two bathrooms---one full, the other half. We were VERY pleased.
As mentioned above, you must have a key card to access elevator. Guests? I guess so.
