This hotel is luxurious! From the moment we walked in the front doors, we were well taken care of by the staff. The rooms are huge and well appointed, the architecture is incomparable, and the service is outstanding. Our only complaint is that the beds are super firm, but that seems to be the trend throughout Mexican hotels. I 100% recommend this hotel.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the stained glass ceiling is o e of a kind. Service staff is friendly. Chose an interior suite based on reviews I read prior to making reservation and we heard no noise being on the second floor. Room was spacious and well maintained. The Terrace restaurant does have the best view of the Zocalo, breakfast buffet is very good. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic experience in the very center of Mexico City. The breakfast was an experience in itself, with about 25 hot dishes, all local, where waiter Eduardo Tellez Garcia explained everything about the food and not least, how to eat it. The hotel is suitable for couples, families, there is no noise here (a little outside, with musicians) and it is non-smoking. You have panoramic views of the cathedral and Constitution Square.

For our first trip to Mexico City we could not have picked a more welcoming hotel to stay at. First off, the hotel is stunning and in a perfect location on the Zocalo. The Bellmen, Front desk, waiters and the cleaning folks were tremendously helpful & friendly despite our very limited understanding of the Mexican language. It's a great central location with very close access to all the ground transportation you'll need to navigate this gigantic city. The restaurant on site was fantastic, and the daily breakfast buffet offered an unbelievable variety of food. In a city as big, and occasionally chaotic, as Mexico City, it was always a pleasure to return to this beautiful oasis. There are many different neighborhoods in Mexico City but if determined to stay in the Historic district I can't imagine a better place to lay your head at night.

An excellent location with fabulous views over the Zocalo from the Terraza Restaurant or from your room if you choose one with a Zocalo view! The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including toiletries, bottled water replaced each day and coffee machine. Wi-fi connection was good. The buffet breakfast offers a wide selection, particularly at the weekend, when it turns into a brunch. Waiters obviously expect a tip for service here, even though the breakfast was included in our tariff. We dined at this same restaurant on two occasions and enjoyed meals at two excellent nearby restaurants (see separate reviews) on our other nights. We made use of the little complimentary lounge area at the front of the hotel where cold water, hot drinks and sweet and savoury snacks were always available during the day. We did find it a little difficult to find the entrance to the hotel as the taxis can't stop outside because it is in a pedestrianised shopping street.

I went to the Terraza restaurant with an incredible view of the ZĂłcalo square, the staff was attentive and the food was delicious. My friends and I had a very, very good time!
It is one of the few restaurants with delicious gourmet vegetarian options.
I greatly appreciate the attention of Israel Mejia, very gentle and attentive to what was required.

The Gran Hotel is a converted department store and has 60 or so rooms on 3 floors around a central courtyard which is simply stunning. It has an ornate roof and antique lifts, these lifts are functional but not for use by unsupervised guests. The courtyard is a genuine tourist attraction with frequent visits by tourists wanting a perfect social media picture. The stairs and lifts were used in two James Bond films (Spectre and License to Kill) though sadly Bond’s room “327” does not exist. Some rooms overlook the Zócalo and we overheard some guests complaining about the noise from the square. To us, the square and noises from the many buskers in adjacent streets were part of the attraction. Because the interior of the hotel is open, noise carries easily from inside as well. We ate at the terrace restaurant once and the food was good but nowhere near as good as the nearby Zócalo Hotel’s terrace restaurant. We went on my partner’s 60th birthday and despite telling the restaurant in advance in Spanish she didn’t even get a “Happy Birthday”. If you just want drinks you are diverted to the vastly inferior bar on the 4th floor which in terms of decor, views and service is very poor. The rooms are a let down and could best be described as poor and “tired”. Room service was not great and our coffee machine was only restocked daily with 2 decaffeinated coffee pods, we almost ran out of toilet paper and there is nowhere to get ice. We asked for ice from room service and it did not arrive and had to get it ourselves from the bar. The mini bar was empty…. However it did have its charm. You’re paying for the location and the ceiling. We’d probably stay again and certainly would stay on the square again. The porters are great. I

As soon as you walk in, you are just amazed by the beautiful lobby. This hotel embodies old world glamour.
I stayed here for 4 nights while attending a wedding. I'm glad the bride chose this hotel, because I don't know if I would've picked it on my own. Traveling solo, I wanted to be where the other guests were since there were a number of events.
I stayed on the 5th floor. When you check in, they take you up to your room in the historic elevators and tell you a little bit about the history of the hotel. My room was very spacious. The rooms are definitely on the older side, but they were very comfortable and I think for the price, provided a good value.
Daily breakfast on the rooftop was included and the roof has very lovely views. Breakfast had a variety of sweet and savory options at the buffet as well as items you could order.
The street is blocked off to most car traffic, but the hotel is able to order taxis which are allowed to enter. I chose to do this my final morning as I had a very early flight and it went very smoothly. Otherwise, you can walk to the end of the block and order an uber.
Overall, I would stay again.

The Gran Hotel is first of all, absolutely stunning and a must visit even if you don't stay there. We stayed there three nights and had an amazing experience. We booked a junior suite looking out to the Zocalo and got upgraded to a master suite. It was giant and the view was spectacular (go to the Terazza for a similar view!), though if you have the bad luck of running into a demonstration on the square like we did, it can be very loud. However the gracious staff gave us a key to an interior room on the night it was loud. We ended up not needing it since it quieted down before our bedtime but the gesture was extremely appreciated. I was also impressed with the security during the event.
I definitely want to mention the breakfast buffet which was included in our rate and quite good - tons of options from traditional Mexican (chilaquiles, pancita, carnitas, etc.) to more European/American standards like eggs, bacon, sweets, cheeses, cold cuts, etc. Also made to order items. And mimosas! And having unlimited water bottles for easy grabbing on our floor was a nice touch.

I think all the rooms have outside views, just not all have a view of the Zocalo. All the rooms seemed to open to the center of the Hotel(which is beautiful!) as you can see in the pictures.
