I first stayed at the Hotel Gillow in 1990 and have stayed there many times since. It is near the Allende Metro stop(blue line) and one block from Madero---the pedestrian street. There is a restaurant in the Gillow but there are many more just steps...More
My friend and I (two single women in our 60s) stayed seven nights in room 506 for a tourist trip to Mexico City. Hotel Gillow was wonderful. It was just a few blocks from the central plaza, cathedral, palace. The rooms were spacious and clean...More

The beating heart of the city lies within Centro Histórico, the vast expanse of historical buildings and monuments that are a must when exploring Mexico City. Places such as the Museo Biblioteca Palacio Postal, Casa de los Azulejos and Palacio de Bellas Artes are the perfect eye candy for anyone seeking to admire arts and architecture. Don't forget to visit the wide variety of markets and plazas where any
vintage item, handicrafts and jewelry characteristic of each state in Mexico can be found on Sundays. Admire majestic views of the city from the Monumento a la Revolución and Torre Latinoamericana, and round out the experience with restaurants of all cuisines nearby.

This is an old and old-fashioned hotel - that is a large part of its charm - but they are not very strong on electronic devices like email or credit cards. If you have made a booking by phone, I am sure that will be OK. Like so many places in Latin America, they live in the present, not the future, and once you arrive everything will be done to ensure your comfort.
I hope this puts your mind at rest and that you will enjoy a stay in one of the loveliest hotels in D.F.
