This hotel sits a little bit away from the centre of Oaxaca but is easily close enough to walk and gives you a quieter place to enjoy the city. There is a beautiful little church next door and a convenient corner shop and cafe on the same block. The leafy central area around which the rooms are situated has some... More

I stayed in Casa Arnel with my mom, we were looking for a good place for a good price, and we found it. It is really like home, very clean, lots of plants that create a conformable and fresh atmosphere. We also had breakfast, and it was really good, home taste. All the people really care about the service. They... More

This place was recommended to me from two different sources, word of mouth. It had great comraderie around the breakfast table, a charming upstairs terrace and downstairs indoor, jungle-like plaza, and a better than average free book library. The week I was there, in mid-February, there was a festival at the next-door church, and the noise was excruciating. If I... More

I stayed at Casa Arnel for 3 weeks. I had my own room with a bathroom and a small balcony with a bench included on the 2nd floor. There was a fan included in the room to plug in when it gets hot. It also had a wooden desk and chair and a closet to hang clothes. The bed was... More

I booked through booking.com. When I arrived I was shocked how basic the room was. A rock hard single bed, a wooden table and chair and a threadbare towel that I wouldn't even have put in a dog basket. I only stayed 1 night but there was a hen party going on which was so noisy and didn't involve any... More

Stayed here for two nights. The single room was small, the shared bathroom was dirty most of the time. I found the hotel to be very noisy, even when half full. Staff were so so. A good 15 minute walk from the zocolo. But its a nice walk ! Internet was free and quite good.

Stayed here during our tour of mexico, was included with the tour price so wasnt expecting it to be so nice! In a good spot, rooms are small but everything you need, great roof top terrace, good food in the cafe downstairs. Would definitly stay here again.

I stayed at Casa Arnel 2 years in a row for my winter holiday to visit my sister in Oaxaca. The stays were back in 2011/2012, but it was such a great place that I still wanted to make some notes figuring the most exciting things to me hadn't changed :) The only complaint I had was that the door... Think of Casa Arnel as more of a bed and breakfast. It is a home, with many rooms that you can rent at all different levels. If you want a room with a bath? They've got it. A single room, but a shared bath? They've got that. Three beds in two rooms? They've got that too. The rooms are not... More

I have stayed at Casa Arnel several times in the past few years as I like the location - it is fairly peaceful and I love the birds! - but the prices are confusing, different on several booking sites. I paid online for 2 nights, then, when I unexpectedly needed to stay another night, I was charged MORE in person... More
