When we looked to book a room for the Day of the Dead weekend, we found Tripadvisor's top ranked hotels were either full or had jacked their prices to ridiculous levels. We found Hotel Casa Las Mercedes after searching your reviews and it was even better than described at a fraction of the price of other hotels. Even though Independencia... More

We visited Oaxaca during the Day of the Dead weekend, and most of the highly recommended hotels were either fully booked or overpriced (>US$400/night)...but lucky for us, we stumbled on Hotel Casa Las Mercedes, which was a great value. The staff was very friendly, the rooms in the traditional courtyard house were recently renovated, and the area was quiet (on... More

The next morning we complained and the staff were very accommodating they upgraded us to a lovely double room on the second... More

Passed through Oaxaca City on the way back from Bahias de Huatulco and stayed at this newer hotel west of the Zocalo. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room/bathroom clean and still new looking. The only complaint I have is with the shower which is open and thus you can't help but get the room wet while showering... More

The center of town is about five blocks away - an easy walk. Rooms are basic but very clean; beds are American doubles/queen and very comfortable. The bathrooms are large and there is great water pressure and immediate hot water. Large flat screen TVs with several English channels and individual AC/Heat in each room. It is a new, small hotel... “We stayed in a large double room - 201 - which opened into the interior corridor and was very quiet. We heard no street noise, although the hotel is located on the main street and we were there during the Day of the Dead festivities..”
