Posada del Abuelito is a great place to stay. The walk from the bus stop is a little long (20min) if you're laden down after a night bus, but it's worth it. It's a cosy old colonial house with central courtyards with plants and hammocks and places to sit. The breakfast is great, the staff helpful, and the atmosphere friendly...

When I arrived in San Cristobal de las Casas I was tired and exhausted from the long bus ride. I hadn’t booked a hostel yet and decided to go to the Posada del Abuelito, because I had heard good things about it. Well, my experience at this place was exceptional! The moment I walked in to this charming small hostel...

economy, nice and set in a quiet location but not far from the actions, friendly staffs, cozy rooms and common areas. Like everyone says, the breakfast is amazing, the bread and home made jam is something I can eat everyday the rest of my life.

The rooms can get quite cold especially if there was no sun at daytime but they provide 2 additional blankets and most important, the shower is clean and very hot. A big plus is the fireplace in the common room & a great kitchen with everything you need. Breakfast is superb and we miss already their homemade jam! We stayed...

The nicest hostel I stayed at in a 3 week trip in Mexico . Great breakfast: make your own eggs with fruit and toast. Hot, nice showers, lovely courtyard, helpful staff, fireplace. San Cris is a walkable, charming city.

Posada del Abuelito blew my mind! I wouldn't even call it a hostel, more of a hotel/retreat for the price of a hostel. Everything is very clean and tidy and throughout the day, the employees keep everything in order. There is a special dorm for women with 4 beds, which is very considerate and I enjoyed staying there very much....

It was absolutely perfect!! We had such a nice room, the garden is amazing (including a well, orchids, hummingbirds, hammocks and a lovely dog named Llena), the staff are wonderful (Nilly would help us with everything we needed and never lost her patience, even when we changed our reservation for the third time), there´s a library with a fireplace, breakfast...

This hostel was just beautiful- it was relaxing just to come back and swing in the hammocks with a beer after a day walking around town. I stayed in both mixed dorm and female dorm - both were great - female dorm has ensuite and only four beds. Highlights: Wood fire at night, helpful staff and eggs with delicious bread...

I've been to over 30 countries and posada del abuelito is without a doubt the best hostel I've stayed in. It's so well organized, it doesn't even make sense! The family and the staff that run it are WONDERFUL, the breakfast is amazing. The fireplace at night, two blankets on the bed, warm showers, the vibe! The people that come...
